On the post-game show Saturday night (and the pre-game.... and the halftime show...)I stated that I thought that Utah deserved the number one ranking.
And they're underdogs against USC.
WUT.
I stand by my words.
Agreed. Who else would it possibly be? I think Alabama is pretty good but they lost to a 2 loss team at home. Ohio State is overrated. Baylor/TCU are pretty good, I think Baylor is probably better at this point, so maybe they could be in the running for #1.
Right now I think the Playoff Four are Utah, Baylor, Alabama, Ohio State. Clemson, LSU, TCU are the ones who are seemingly next in line in some order. Obviously Baylor/TCU gets settled I think the day after Thanksgiving.

Baylor has played the most deliciously indulgent cupcake of a schedule. It gets better over the second half but good Lord. They will really need to keep winning convincingly to keep their spot in the playoffs.
Also why do you have Bama over LSU? LSU controls their own destiny for now.
When do the playoff committee rankings come out again? I think the committee rankings are going to be controversial no matter what and I'm super excited for it.

November 3 I believe for rankings.
I projected a bit to the end of the season and think Baylor has a better defense than TCU.
Also, I like Alabama in the trenches better than LSU. But Fournette might just beat everyone by himself. I watched all of the LSU Syracuse game and felt like it was a lackluster effort and I can't shake that thought.

All fair points. I don't know anything about TCU. Baylor's offense looks absurd right now but, again, who knows how they'll play when they get punched in the mouth.
And it's definitely worth mentioning that LSU/Bama is in Death Valley. As a biased Auburn fan who wants only the worst for Bama I think LSU wins that one.

They're not playing in Clemson.
Oh no man, LSU's stadium is also named Death Valley. It's a very well-known fact. No worries about the misunderstanding.

I certainly think LSU could beat Bama. I think bama has the edge at coach. But Fournette is looking to make all other edges moot.

Don't worry about it. Sang just loves being a pain in the ass especially with anything remotely Clemson related. I purposefully stopped referring to Tennessee as UT because I got tired of him asking why I was talking about Texas. This along with many other reasons sang-related causes me to have issue wanting good things to happen to Clemson despite custeph being one of the best people ever.

Well, he does have a point there
But Texas probably doesn't deserve to be called anything the way they've been going.

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Oh I am 100% aware. I was sass-mouthing him right back. I need to step up my snark game if that doesn't translate well via text.

So, as an uninformed northerner - why Tigers and War Eagle?
Tigers are the mascot. Our battle cry is "War eagle!" The worst part of all of this is there is no definitive answer for why we say war eagle. The most widely accepted answer is that it comes from a particularly special moment from Auburn's first football game ever. This offers a pretty solid summation of the myth.
"War Eagle" is Auburn's battle cry -- not a mascot or nickname. "War Eagle" has become a way for the Auburn family to greet and identify with each other all over the world. Anywhere you're wearing something with an Auburn logo on it, chances are you'll hear a friendly "War Eagle!"
The most popular story about the battle cry dates back to the first time Auburn met Georgia on the football field in 1892 and centers around a spectator who was a veteran of the Civil War. In the stands with him that day was an eagle the old soldier had found on a battlefield during the war. He had kept it as a pet for almost 30 years.
According to witnesses, the eagle suddenly broke free and began majestically circling the playing field. As the eagle soared, Auburn began a steady march toward the Georgia end zone for a thrilling victory. Elated at their team's play and taking the bird's presence as an omen of success, Auburn students and fans began to yell "War Eagle" to spur on their team. At the game's end, the eagle took a sudden dive, crashed into the ground, and died.
But the battle cry "War Eagle" lived on to become a symbol of the proud Auburn spirit. Whenever Auburn people gather, the battle cry "Warrrrrrr Eagle!" is almost certain to be heard. It has been a part of Auburn's spirit for more than 100 years.
Nowadays Auburn is a good vet school and maintains the Southeastern Raptor Center. So the eagle you see fly before the game is a rescue that has no chance at returning to the wild. So even if you hate the mythic aspect of war eagle you can still see it as a nice testament to some good work that Auburn does.
It's always important to insert "titty-fucking" into the middle of any school's motto or battle cry. My friend the Auburn fan says "War Titty-Fucking Eagle!" My Southern Miss friend says "To the titty-fucking top!" My Ole Miss buddy says "Hotty titty-fucking Toddy!"
