If I remember correctly, the last 2 years, Firefly didn't announce a specific date and time for the release. They just gave a window (such as "next week", or "early February") and announced it out of the blue.
I might get some hate for this, but I am jealous that Forecastle got Sam Smith. He is an amazing artist and I absolutely love his music. No one really speculated him playing at Firefly though so I am assuming that won't happen.
I know a lot of people dislike Kings of Leon. Is there a major reason why most people don't like them? If you don't like them, why do you personally dislike them?
They have become such a token indie band, like, let's put their songs in commercials and have them play the super bowl to have them appeal to indie fans, kind of like how the black keys are now. Let's just put this band as a headliner to even out the genre pool. True indie fans don't like them the same way true hip hop fans don't like Kanye or Lil Wayne.
I'm not sure what criteria you use to classify someone as a "true hip hop fan", but the large majority of people I've encountered who love music and love hip hop are big fans of Kanye.

I cannot figure out Firefly's angle on the lineup drop. If they're trying to generate hype with ambiguity then it's probably backfiring. Just look at the message boards on their own website, nobody has posted anything in >2 hours. I would think that giving a specific date/time would actually increase the buzz they're looking for.
Also, I secretly hope the "leaked" lineup was done by Firefly for SOME misdirection, and to keep people talking. That being said, most of it is probably accurate.

i think most are split on Kanye. early stuff was easily his best but his live shows are pretty bad from the two i have seen and thats before he goee on an annoying rant that kills the flow of the show

Last year as soon as the lineup dropped the official messageboards sparked to life and we had a couple thousand accounts added in between the lineup drop and a few weeks before the festival. There is a lot less speculation there, it comes into play more when people are trying to figure out tips for getting there, which acts to see, what to take if you are camping, buying and reselling tickets.

Firefly is trying to get to two weekends like Coachella, but for that to ever happen they need to do a far better job cultivating the community aspect of things and providing updates. It just comes across as them not having things together and not them trying to build hype.

If we don't hear anything in the next 45 mins (an official post or a teaser video) then it's not dropping today.
I thought it was odd in FF tweet yesterday they said "wait till you see what's coming this week". I'm thinking it's going to be tomorrow. The Facebook activity is encouraging though.

Uh, da drought 3, no ceilings, sorry for the wait, dedication 2?
Those were all just as good if not better than his albums. Weezy was on top of the rap world for a few years there
I will say though that recently he's definitely dropped off but he's put out a ton of quality music since Carter II
all garbage. he was on top bcuz he went mainstream and started appealing to a different type of audience, mostly young white teens from what i noticed.

You're giving Firefly too much credit. I don't think they have an "angle" on this, they're just really disorganized. If the lineup was fully ready to go, I think they'd just post it. Last year, they were still tweaking the lineup on the day they released it.

Agreed. I will sink deeper into my delusion and pretend they're finalizing deals with a few surprise acts, and that's the reason for the wait.

I guess? Social media is strong enough to do their advertising for them, albeit after the lineup drops. When it comes, whenever that may be, people will learn of it quickly.

Firefly will probably get him
He has two shows in Paris, France, on June 17th and June 18th. Still possible, but not likely.

While I am on the fence about the lineup that leaked/is fake... I think some of you are overestimating the time it would take to make that poster. I am a designer, and if I had the info it would take me an hour, tops. Being that everyone on inforoo already does all the research of who can be there/who is on your/ who is out of the country, it's probable that this could be done quite quickly. Especially because a majority of the summer lineups Are out, it's getting easier to narrow down artists that are more likely.

And I really appreciate if Firefly books Haim.
I seriously dont get the appeal of Haim. Theyre crazy overrated

would be awesome, but I haven't seen them ANYWHERE else.
I thought Haim was a lot of fun at Firefly 2013, but I wouldn't expect to see them back on the lineup until 2016. They're too busy partying with Taylor Swift these days anyway.
