Hey everyone! I am doing Groop for the first time this year and I was hoping someone could explain the setup to me. Is the difference that you have reserved parking and camping space next to others in your Groop (still have the space right in front of your vehicle to set up your tent and such) OR is it more of a park all the vehicles together and have a designated space where it's a free for all in your Groop to setup tents?
You get a 10X20 space for every 3 people. Lets say you have 24 people, that's 4,800 sq. ft. marked off just for your groop. When you arrive, you can set up camp however you want. You can park all the cars in one corner like its a parking lot and set up camp in the remaining space. You can let everyone park their car next to their tent. Etc. It's really up to your groop.
One piece of advice, however, is to take into consideration when people want to leave Roo. Don't want to have your car boxed in. From my experience I'd say parking the cars in two parallel lines on the perimeter of camp is best.

I think the chalked off space is bigger than that. 10'x20' alone is just your standard parking space dimension in any parking lot, i.e. just enough room to put a car. I wanna sat last year it seemed like we essentially get the same space per car that you would get in general camping, but in one big block. Where the "feels like we have so much more space" perception comes in is the efficiency of use of the allotted space with everyone combining stuff and sharing setups. You are absolutely dead on on how to handle the vehicle parking, though.

I'm not sure 10x20 is accurate for an average parking space. I'm picturing my car, and I don't think it's 20 feet long.

After reviewing my e-mail records, I also stand corrected!
Hi [jimmyroo],
You will recieve a 12'x35' space for every 3 campers.

You guys should just e-mail groopcamping@bonnaroo.com
They are actually VERY helpful and respond relatively quickly. (The above e-mail was a response only one day following my inquiry). I must have sent them a dozen e-mails last year.
Just make sure to use a lot of smiley faces and what not.
