This one is different. Its not just accusations. Having a paper trail as detailed as is laid out in the report is solid evidence for the NCAA, should they choose to act. I'm curious if, and how hard, they will bring the hammer down. We have entered an era where its cool to bash the NCAA and dismiss everything they stand for, and I'm sure that public perception weighs into their course of action.
Another "SEC player gets paid" story. Next week, sky is blue and water is wet.
Aw, another butthurt SEC fan whining about players taking benefits.
For the record, I think the NCAA is a deplorable agency and operates in a perpetual state of hypocrisy. I just find it funny that whenever stuff like this comes out, college football fans' only real response is "yeah.....so?"

I think it's just because nothing ever seems to come of them. I saw it on ESPN while I was at my work trip. From what I saw, it wasn't a university wide issue, so my interest in it is decreased. Even if Couch (who is in his last year) gets suspended, he's the backup DT, and his issues likely won't affect anyone else.
Exactly. These stories come out every season and nothing ever happens.
I think something will happen eventually. The NCAA seems to continually come off as a more and more irrelevant regulatory body due to their seeming inability to actually punish even a fraction of the people who have stuff brought against them. On the other hand, it is partially a matter of the sports media who like to turn allegations into a 3 ring circus without having all their proof in place and regardless of whether the NCAA will be privy to the same evidence the press is, see Johnny Manziel.
The NCAA will not be the governing body of college athletics in five years, maybe three.
The recent SEC allygations are media driven, so if they follow suit of other media driven things, very little will happen. The OK State deal is also media driven, but man, there are some pretty detailed things in there, so I don't know about Ole Fighting T Boones on that one.

The OK State stuff came from mostly from former players, most of whom were kicked off the team at some point. Some of since retracted their statements so that story is already falling apart.
The recent Yahoo story about the SEC has invoices, text messages, and record of other transactions. That's far more by the way of proof than the OSU stuff, and certainly more than anything that came up during the Johnny Football mess. The fact that UT is sitting their guy proves there is something there. Obviously it remains to be seen whether or not the NCAA will act.
I don't think the NCAA is going anywhere, but I do see big changes coming to the rules and regulations put on players. That I do see changing within 5 years, but I don't think the NCAA is just going to disappear.
Mista Don't Play, the only thing I would say about Couch is that he is the backup DT, so it has to be a little easier for them to sit him voluntarily than if it would have been McCullers or AJ Johnson. Also, I also saw on ESPN last night that there have already been numerous inconsistencies pointed out in the statements of people involved in the OkSt allegations. It certainly isn't helping their overall credibility so far.

It's not good, but I'm not in panic mode just yet. I am hoping Martavis Bryant steps up big time now, and that he got all of the drops out of his system during the UGA game. And don't forget Chad Morris loves throwing to his tight ends. I expect to see a lot of that, especially now.

Yea, it does make it easier to be cautious and sit him. There may be nothing to come out of this, but once the story came out I'm sure the coaches went to him and ask "Is there anything to this?" If his answer is anything but, "No absolutely not." Then you have to sit him just in case.
And yes the ACC has been bitten by the injury bug. Duke lost their starting QB in the first half last week. Connette looked pretty good, though, so I'll stay positive until I see a reason not to. Scoring on Tech hasn't been a problem in recent years, its stopping to stupid triple option offense, hopefully the defense is up to the task.

I see it as damage control. UT is on probation right now because of Kiffin, so I am sure they will overreact to such things. They may not have knew it beforehand, but they would want to show that they took measures regarding it as soon as it came to light, so they look as good as possible in front of the NCAA.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

Neither teams defense could stop the others offense. Luckily, for Bama, Manziel stopped A&M twice with the two picks. Of course they wouldn't have stood a chance without him and that was a great finish. Glad I didn't give up watching at the beginning of the 4th quarter when it was 42-21.

It definitely was the offenses that dictated this one. If you are looking for solace in the loss, this is apparently the most points Bama has given up in one game in the Saban era according to the announcers at the end of the game.

Yeah I figured as much without stat checking. A&M is still playing with a Big 12 defense. They are really getting all the top recruits out of the state now. It's a shame Manziel will be gone before those players start to make an impact. I'm still shocked that the Longhorns let all these top QB prospects like Robert Griffin III slip by them but then again I thought Garrett Gilbert was going to be the real deal after watching him play in high school.

Whew. The end to the Miss St - Auburn game was exciting.
Also, on the Bama- A&M game, that targeting penalty was a prime example of bullsh*t. Not the same level as the TCU game on Thursday but bullsh*t nonetheless.
I was really hoping the Vols would win today. But of course they had to go and lose by 45.
I caught bits and pieces of a few games today. Was at a wedding reception for one of Heather's friends, ran out to bar down the hall to see a minute or two of a game here and there. The Bama/A&M game looked nuts. I did see Auburn come back and win on the last drive. I got home to catch the end of the second quarter of the Oregon State game - but there's probably no chance I stay up all the way to the end. (Go Beavs.)

I agree. If you want to protect your players, DO NOT THROW THAT PASS!

I think it's just another thing that is going to shift the balance toward the offenses again. If you watched the play, the defender was just trying to go after the pass and make a play. Because he ended up colliding with the receiver, he gets a flag thrown on him and would have been tossed from the game unless they had that replay rule in effect. Even the announcers said it looked like the defender actually touched the ball first. Players and coaches are going to start seeing stuff like that and pulling back instead of going in for plays like that. I am totally fine with the targeting penalty in general because I think it puts players back to using fundamentals in tackling, but they have to watch the enforcement of it.
Oh look, the Beavers wind up in another shootout and last second nail biter. At least we actually won this one.
49 to Eastern Washington, 48 to Utah ... who needs defense when you can put up 45+ every game. I'm thinking the over/under on the Civil War will end up 120

If there are 120 points in that game it will be because Oregon scored 100. Don't underestimate their d
