Ether's beat is a joke. Takeover's on the other hand is a monster produced by none other than god himself. I'll take the cold hard facts and sarcastic/witty remarks from jay over a couple of gay jokes any day. As songs... there's no contest. WHo actually listens to ether? like for enjoyment. You could take out the middle two verses and takeover is still a badass/class track.
Wouldn't the beat factor into it as "a song," while the "diss" aspect focuses more on the lyrics?
Ether's beat sounds like it was made in my basement in 1999, of course Takeover sounds better production-wise.
I think it plays a huge role in the momentum behind the diss. Plus the amount of times I listen to the song helps its case as well. Even lyrically, Nas sounded mad bro. I picture him foaming after Jay just dropped some laid back real shiz on him. Comes into the booth spitting gay jokes and such.
I also don't care for most of Nas' famous lines. The biggie biting is irrelevant to me, calls him camel (another lifeless schoolyard diss), eminem did get jay on renegade (but you wont convince me anyone including nas could have gotten on that track and spit a better verse than Em's). DUDE KRS ALREADY NAMED AN ALBUM BLUEPRINT!
Alright I dont want to clog the coach thread with this age old debate anymore. Apologies everyone.
"On April 15, Nas will release Illmatic XX, which includes a remasterd copy of the original album and a disc of remixes, demos and freestyles. In support, Nas will tour the U.S., performing Illmatic in its entirety; so far, only appearances at Washington, DC’s Kennedy Center and Coachella have been announced." www.factmag.com/2014/02/04/nas-celebrates-illmatic-20th-anniversary-with-deluxe-edition-documentary/
I think Calvin is billed too high to be playing during Arcade Fire. I could see him playing The Sahara during Beck though. Then again Coachella is always weird with their stage progressions like they are usually pretty random so Calvin- Beck- AF could happen.
If it really goes Skrillex>Queens>Muse I am avoiding the main stage all night. I like Queens, but I am seeing them tonight so I dont need to deal with Skrillex and Muse fans

Skrillex has lost some steam. If you look at the Governor's Ball lineup, Disclosure has more adds to people's schedules than Skrillex. I know he has new music and an album coming this year so it will be interesting to see how that turns out.

Seeing Darkside tonight to help deal with the clusterquack that will be Saturday night. If Muse really does close it out (and play deeper cuts as promised by Bellamy), I can't miss that set. Regardless of their polarizing last two albums, they deserve to close the night out.
