At least this horrible Denver D didn't let the Seahawks knock the Cowboys out of second place for the highest margin of victory in a Super Bowl.
Edit: Actually, Da '85 Bears victory over the Pats was the second highest margin of victory and this 2014 debacle matched the '92 Dallas-Buffalo game, but I give that game the edge because of Michael Jackson.
I'm glad they gave the MVP to a defensive guy. I was afraid it would go to Wilson or Harvin. Not because they didn't play great but only because the defense won this game for them and it's hard to single out one person when it takes the whole defense to shut you down. Seattle played mistake-free offense and you have to give Wilson a lot of credit for taking care of the ball. But the defense set the tone for the game.

Every time a broncos player got outside on a screen or whatever and was one on one with a defender you just expected him to get obliterated. Then every time a seahwaks player, including wilson, was one on one with a defender I was like "oh wheres the second defender? no way this one player can tackle another."
Seattle dominated in every phase, it was a true beatdown.
Denver was making mistakes that elite teams just don't make, like the kickoff. Five guys bunching up and creating a lane for Harvin, who is one of the most dangerous players in space in the league? The kicker did his job perfectly, and the coverage unit shit themselves.
Poor, poor Pot Roast. Dude was the only guy who came to play on that team, it seemed like.

What a letdown. I think everyone should take a moment to be thankful for how great the superbowls of the last decade have really been. Especially the last five years. Wasn't always like that. Tonight was quite the reminder. Seattle has a real chance to win any time in the next 5 years if they can keep their defense somewhat in tact.
Seattle has $126+ in cap commitments in 2014. The cap hasn't been set yet, but it went up less than $3 million last year to $123 million, but right now the projections are it goes up to $126.3 million and with Seattle rolling over $2.8 million their adjusted cap is $129.1 million. Seattle has Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin both hitting FA (Baldwin is a RFA), their kicker will need a raise since he's a FA, Michael Bennett may push for a new deal, Browner & Thurmond are also both UFA's.
The team's core is still locked up on rookie deals/extensions, but it's going to be tough to keep so many elite young players on cheap deals. They can probably get away with it for 2014, but by the next year they'll have to start giving out raises. The most obvious move is cutting Sidney Rice and chopping $7.3 off the cap. Clemons and Avril both come with $7+ million savings if cut, but restructures for one (or both) make more sense since they're both still in their prime and really good players.
They'll keep their core for 2014, they'll be able to retain most of their FA's, but they'll have to let some guys go in order to do it most likely. 2015 will be interesting when they'll have to give new deals to Wilson, Sherman and Earl Thomas. Three big money positions to guys in their primes and elite. Oofa those numbers will be huge (and obviously worth it).

Yea yea big money bets against the odds, but winning $15 bucks on tails for the coin toss and Beast Mode getting under 150 overall yds against your best friends is way more worth it.

That was a great game. People that can't appreciate Seattle's performance probably find 1-0 baseball games boring. Peyton has only won a Super Bowl after the Polian rule changes in 05-06. He's the best 7-7 non-contact era quarterback, but he's not programmed for a physical game like Seattle brought.

Thank you for that important correction. SF 55 DEN 10 in Super Bowl XXIV. Montana led TD drives on 6 of their first 8 possessions. Rice had 3 TDs. Meanwhile, the defense held Elway and the Broncos to 167 total yards.
Poor Denver. On the wrong side of 2 of the worst Super Bowl blowouts.
Does this look like what I think it looks like? I know it's the Super Bowl and what not, but is it really common for bands to unplug completely? Just sing karaoke and mail it in?

Make that three. The fifth biggest Super Bowl blowout was XXII when the Redskins crushed them on my birthday.
I think Peyton will have a solid game. It's the Broncos D that I think is being overlooked. They aren't a Super Bowl caliber D (at least now with the injuries) and the Seahawks offense can score points - even against a good D like the niners.
The Seahawks are built to take out teams like the Broncos and Saints. Obviously they're a really good team (and clearly 2013's best team) regardless of matchup, but those type of schemes play right into what Seattle does. Earl Thomas sat single-high almost all night, Kam Chancellor destroyed every bullshit 3 yard crossing route and screen, and Manning was constantly under duress despite only one sack on the stat sheet. They are so fun to watch. They don't miss tackles. The defense plays close to the edge but always under control. People talk about how "it just wasn't the Broncos' night" but this is what happened all year. The Seahwaks are so good at forcing normally safe teams into mistakes that people start buying into thinking it's a fluke. It was maddening to watch as a Saints fan, knowing my team doesn't usually make the kind of mistakes you saw in both of our matchups.
Drafting well will be key to sustaining, as all that young talent will be getting overpaid by Dallas, Oakland, and Washington in the next few years.
I'm both giddy and depressed at the thought of Dallas throwing a beyond stupid contract at Marshawn Lynch in two years.
I doubt that happens. With his running style he should soon be on the decline much like Michael Turner and Steven Jackson. As bad of a GM as Jerry is, I don't think he would be looking at signing Lynch. He usually has low or undrafted players currently on the roster show flashes of being good in one season, like Miles Austin and Sean Lee, then throws big money at them screwing up his cap where he can't sign anyone in the off season. Good bye Jason Hatcher, you were the only bright spot in this years D Line.

Washington has a lot of holes and a LOT of $$$ to spend this offseason, so you can count on at least a few dumb contracts. Dallas, on the other hand, is already over the cap.
It was refreshing to see another team get stomped as badly as we were stomped (for 6 out of 8 quarters). It was also incredibly boring.
I'm curious to see how this debacle will affect the next few drafts. When QBs started taking over the league, everyone wanted to start focusing on building up the offenses. When QBs started succeeding with their legs, everyone wants a mobile QB. I predict we start seeing teams revert back to focusing on defense.
