Bonus question: Would you pay the price of two first rounders for Jimmy Graham? Show your work.
Depends on the team, how bad an offensive weapon is needed and if he could fit into the scheme there. The guy is not known for his blocking, so I think he wouldn't shine in a scheme where he was asked to block heavily. I am not calling him a product of the system by any stretch, but the Saints offense is a great fit for what he does.
We are just days away from FA starting and I don't know about you but my balls are tingling.

For the Ravens, no. Pitta is locked up for five years and he is a "poor man's" (playing pretty fast and loose with the word poor) Jimmy Graham. Raven's are giving Eric Ebron a hard look for their first pick. Between the two of them, I believe they could come close to matching Graham's production if they had too. More importantly, we need O-line help. Passing weapons aren't worth much if you can't give them time to get down the field.
I would be more likely to get behind a deal like that for Graham if he already had a multi year deal in place. Or if I felt my team was one offensive weapon away from making a Super Bowl run. Neither are the case here

Depends on which team I am. If I am for example the Seattle Seahawks, I absolutely pay the man a large sum of money AND the two first rounders. We already know that this years 1st rd pick is the absolute last and no reason to believe next years wont be near the bottom either. A stud TE is the only thing missing from this team that already won a super bowl and is very young on both sides of the ball. Can you imagine giving a young, smart QB like Wilson one of the best TE's in the game as a red zone target and bail out target while if he is scrambling? With the expectation and projections of the rising salary cap and Wilson still under the rookie deal for two more years, it would not be that difficult to pay him now, hope to win another SB or two and then deal with all the possible salary cap issues later. The price to pay for them in draft picks would be lower than anyone else. If I am for example my Chicago Bears, of course not. We need more picks, not less and while Graham is an effing stud, the different between him and Bennett is not two first rounders, one of which we already know is #14. I wouldnt even give up the #14 pick alone for him because the team need on defense is far greater than adding more offense.
Okay, I agree with what most of you have said. I think the Jets should do it. Ideally, you offer the Saints a 1st and lesser-than-first pick for him, but if they say no you give up the two 1's, load Graham's deal with a big payday this year when you can absorb the hit and then have lesser cap hits the rest of his deal so you can add pieces/extend your current players. Graham is a top-5 receiver in the league, imo, and the Jets haven't had a threat like him since Keyshawn (shut up, he was really good in his heyday). The 18th pick this year and what would probably be a low-to-mid 20's pick next year, you still have 10-11 picks in 2011, still have plenty of money to sign another CB or S and you give Geno the best jump ball/red zone/bailout receiver in the game and a guy who thrives in broken plays. It won't happen, but it's fun to dream about.
I'm pretty excited about all the possibilities for my team with all these changes. I think it will be very interesting to see if we pick up anyone in free agency since we are getting rid of so many players.
On the other hand, I loved watching Lance Moore's TD dances and his personality. I loved watching Darren Sproles catch the ball, turn upfield, and run faster than whatever speed my tv is capable of going. It's sad to lose fan favorites.
I think what I meant in that last post was that sometimes when it comes down to doing things to try to win by cutting players you really loved watching play, is it really worth it? Emotionally, I mean.
Not surprised that Snee took a $5 million pay cut (bringing us up to $25 million in cap room), but cutting Baas doesn't make sense to me. Baas had an 8 million cap number and we could have saved 5 million by cutting him June 1. Instead they cut him now and we only save 1.8 million on the cap. I just don't get it.

Now I get it. This is Jerry Reese indirectly admitting that we are in a rebuild, and that it's more important to get Baas off the booksfor 2015 than to free up more cap space this year.

It will be interesting (or sad) to see how far down the list of wanted players the Bears will have to go to get some help on defense. On one hand, I know they will spend money even with the Cutler deal. They will go out and sign guys and draft a few guys just like they revamped the O-line all in one offseason last year. They are not afraid to spend the money. On the other hand, if guys like Bennett dont sign with the Bears when it is known they offered more than the team the player signs with (in this case Seattle), I fear they will be left with 3rd tier guys they may overpay for. I think the Bears may end up with a bunch of guys on one year deals to go with who they draft, throw them all against the wall and see who sticks. Im hoping for at least one quality signing. I know they want to eventually shift to a 3-4 anyway so I dont have any issue with one year contract for guys if they cant find a long term fit but need to have at least one guy you can think will be a part of the future core along with the draft.

...and after seeing the deal Michael Johnson just got after an off year(43.75 for 5 years with 24 guaranteed), I wonder if the price on Henry Melton just went up again.
I know Steve Smith is getting old, but shouldn't they have a replacement for him before they cut him? They don't have a #1 wr.
While it would be nice, its probably not important to know who the replacement is if you already have decided to move on from him regardless. If they really value Smith as a person, they are doing the right thing by him letting him go now so he can sign with another team before they all sign guys. The draft for WR is very deep (not necessarily at the top but plenty to be found round 3 and on) so it may be difficult for WR's to get what they want this offseason, especially if they have not found a home before the draft.
Cornerbacks are already the story of the day. Obviously Revis, Verner, and Talib are big names out there, but others could be included in a trade.
Joe Haden got mentioned on Twitter. But one name I'm watching: Mo Claiborne. You figure with Dallas hurting, it would make sense to ship him. Right?
Most of these guys being mentioned in trade rumors will end up beign released and the trade talks are a hope the team can get something instead of nothing for them. A team is unlikely to trade for Peppers or Revis, etc and keep his salary (which is the reason they are trying to trade them in the first place) when they can wait for them to be released and sign them at a lower cost without giving up anything at all.
Re: Bears - Signing Houston will be huge for them. Sign Houston and draft a DT in the first and your defensive front is all of a sudden a strength.
Houston is next on the list after Bennett and Johnson but I dont quite share the same optimism that it would only take those two guys. I would be for resigning Melton as well which wouldnt seem like a FA signing but since he only played 3 games before being out for the season, it really would be a shot in the arm. Give me Melton, Houston and Donald in the first round and they could just sign a bunch of old vets on one year deals with the rest of the FA money and draft more defense in the middle rounds. With the offense the Bears have, Id be thrilled to get the defense to average.
Apologies, the job wouldn't be done for the Bears' front, but it'd all of a sudden look a LOT more formidable. And as we've seen in recent years, a great pass rush/DL can mask a lot of issues elsewhere.
