"I don't like hard numbers and 'facts.' I like what my biased, untrained eyes tell me."
If you wanna think that everything sports related can be proven with stats, then you go ahead and believe that, but if that were true there'd be no point in watching the twists and turns of the NFL.

Everything? No. But do I think statistical analysis helps us understand what's actually happening? Yes. Looking at a team that's 8-1 and just concluding "they're the awesomest because I knows they are" is about as dumb as saying "well that guy won the most games this year, so he's gotta get the Cy Young."

I didn't say Arizona was the best team; I think the Patriots are (right now). 4-0 a few years ago was a fluke but you can not say that an 8-1 team is not one of the best in the league given their injuries, victories and fourth quarter magic. Arizona is out scoring their opponents in the fourth quarter by 80ish points, they're getting really good on third down and when Palmer went down Arizona got three defensive turnovers; two of which were touchdowns. I don't see how you can look at those victories, those facts and some of the clutch moments during the season and say they aren't the best team in the NFC.

Oh no. You actually used the word "clutch."
I don't think they're the best team in the NFC because I understand that simply winning the most games doesn't necessarily mean a team is the best. I've tried pointing you to some stats which illustrate this, but to no avail.

The same stats you used also say Baltimore is the second best team.

It's funny that tranter is all anti-stats and then points to the Cards' 8-1 record and 4th quarter point differential.
How about the fact that their secondary is average at best, their QB is a scrub, and their RB won't last to the Super Bowl.
Having said all that...
Stanton vs. Sanchez NFC championship. Book it.
I'm not anti stats I just think that using them for everything is ridiculous. The only reason the Cardinals secondary isn't ranked higher on any stat is because teams are forced to throw a lot more bc of that rush D (see: Nick Foles). I really don't know where you get that "fact" that Ellington won't last because it just seems like you made up something to emphasize your other "facts"
If they weren't issues he wouldn't be listed on the injury report on a weekly basis.
If he IS hurt and is still doing this good, then he must be one of the best backs in TV league, right?
He looks much better than last year and he wasn't hurt then. It's gonna take a lot to knock him out.
Ever heard of Ahmad Bradshaw? He always played through pain at a very high level. And eventually he can't go anymore and ends the season early.
I'm not downplaying Ellington. Just like Bradshaw a big reason he's great is because he can play through injuries at a high level. But I wouldn't get your hopes up on him being the next AP or Marshawn Lynch in terms of durability.

Ahmad Bradshaw is built a lot tougher than Ellington though.
The Cardinals beat the 49ers back in September. You cant tell me that if you beat any team in September, you dont have to worry about them in December and January. For the majority of teams, they will be a different team (good or bad). That was week 2. Since then, the same 49ers have beaten the Eagles and Chiefs and just beat the Saints on the road.
Im not saying the Cardinals suck, they just wont be able to win in the playoffs, and likely in the regular season down the stretch with Stanton. The will lose both games to Seattle, and will lose the last game of the season at SF for sure.
The Patriots got blown out in Kansas City, and were 2-2 in September. In New England, the sky was falling.
Now it looks like they're the favorites to be the #1 seed in the AFC again.
It's weird that the Cardinals lost in Seattle. They beat the Seahawks there last year, so naturally I thought they'd just go ahead and do it again because those two things are totally connected.

All I said was Seattle was beatable
Yes, but your reasoning behind that was "Arizona beat them in Seattle last year so it will happen again." When it was explained to you that one has nothing to do with the other you struggled mightly to comprehend the lack of a causal connection.
I still think San Fran winds up winning that division. I just have this ugly suspicion that the goddamned 49ers are going to pull it off.
