Hey guys! This year will be my first time at roo and I have read many different strategies for seeing artists on Thursday. I'ver heard of everything from just staying at one tent to running around everywhere. I just wanted to know what you more experienced roo'ers think about the thursday dilemma?
Just don't do partial sets, but definitely don't stay at one tent for the whole day... I mean, don't go to a tent at 4 p.m. because you have to see the act playing at 11 p.m.

The ones that are really packed are not usually a big surprise, so plan accordingly if you want to see one of them. As far as whole sets versus partial, that is a personal preference depending on the person.

Your probably not going to be able to see every Band/Artist that you want to (Not just on Thursday) and you dont have to be right up front for every show either. Its cool to chill in the back sometimes. If you accept these premises, you will do just fine.

It's still a valid opinion. It's just an opinion that you hold only in the dark recesses of your heart and never, ever let see the light of day lest the other members of Inforoo cast you out.

Last year was my first year so I'll tell you how me and my group went about it.
We picked a band we would want to see for every time of the day once the schedule came out. You use this as a guidline. Once you get your day started, so many things can happen. Maybe you'll stay at the tent you were at to see a new band you heard about. Maybe you'll grab a bite to eat, and something will peak your interest. Maybe you'll meet some people and go to see a show with them.
I'd go in there with a plan, but leave tons of room for being open minded. If you go this route, you're going to have a stellar time.

IMO Get to that Tent/Stage before the previouse Band ends and when they end, you should be able to move up and get a decent spot for the next Band. It's not a perfect system but it works most of the time.

Once the schedule comes out, you will: -weigh the conflicts, decide which acts are missable and which are not, -realize you're right back where your started, -crawl into a corner and cry quietly as you sit in the fetal position for 2-3 days, - look at the schedule again, -look into a mirror and start cutting your hair and tell yourself you are a pretty girl, just like the rest of us. Then go look at Sundays conflicts are realize Thursday isn't soo bad. You're going to miss some shows you really wanted to see. Or you can see every show you want to see, but from a bit of a distance. How you choose to go about this up to you. Good luck.

Now that you changed avatar's, I can't help but read everything that you say as if it were Krieger. Which leads to me recieving everything you type with an insane amount of skepticism haha

Thursdays are great for exploring-both new bands you've never heard of and exploring Bonnaroo. I would recommend not scheduling to the point that you can't explore Centaroo a little bit and check out the vendors and seeing the sights, especially if it is your first Bonnaroo. In terms of who to see, as some have already suggested, it will work itself out. You will go in with a plan and then abandon it and will have the time of your life anyway. I like to hang back in the middle of the tent and not stress about getting so close. As far as the tents go, any spot inside of the tent isn't too bad. If you get stuck watching a band you really want to see from somewhere around the fountain, that's another story. I would suggest finding someone else to watch if that happens.

If there is a Thursday act that is playing in your hometown before/after Roo, maybe try to catch the show to open up other opportunities for Thursday.
We're hoping to get tickets for Alt-J here in Pittsburgh: They're playing the Monday before Roo (so are Foals, they play Pittsburgh Sunday, so many decisions). That way, if we can't catch 'em on Thursday, we won't cry about it forever. If we do get to see them again, all the much cooler.

Sound is better inside the tents, but you can find a lot of good spots outside of the tents too. So if it sounds bad where you are, you can move around. The only place most people ever complain about sound is the Which Stage. I will say that if an acoustic artist or someone who just isn't very loud is playing on a stage next to a metal band or electronic act, the sound can bleed.
