Not sure if this is being discussed elsewhere, but I think they changed the angle of the Which Stage this year. It seemed to point more towards This Tent which allowed for more people to use the open space to the right of the stage. I think this alleviated a lot of the overcrowding.
I watched some of it, and I do not get all the hate he gets, I didn't love it but I have seen worse DJ's. On the other hand I have seen a lot of better ones and like a lot of bands (Bon Iver)Phish he is inexplicably popular for his talent level.

Not only am I not a convertee, I hate him even more. I have been listening to EDM for 16 years now and he is just horrible. Some dubstep is okay but his music is just too mechanical, passionless, soulless, and just plain horrible. I am pissed that that crap bleed all over the festival for 2 hours Saturday night basically killing any chance for non-Skrillex fans to enjoy music.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

I saw him at Hangout, and then Roo. Both shows were fun, but this one blew the Hangout show out of the water, so to speak. I had an awesome time at this show

Whatever they've done, I like it. I felt there was much more space everywhere I went. The only times I felt packed in, yet far from the stage, was Alabama Shakes, RHCP, and maybe Superjam.

I saw him at Hangout and thought he was ok. But it was also 3 in the afternoon and the sun was shining bright. I really enjoyed him Saturday night. The bottom line is if I am doing late night, this what I like to see. I am super sad that I didn't catch more of GZA, but I had trouble making myself leave... I would say that I am a convert.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Why are people still saying he doesn't do anything? Lol, he was mixing on CDJ's and a DJM Mixer using USB sticks, no computer in sight. He put on a hell of a show and manually mixed the entire set. I guarantee he was the only DJ all weekend not using some type of DVS.

I agree. If you watch a few videos on youtube you can see that he's working almost the entire time up there. He stops to dance and clap and get the crowd going a few times, but I thought that was great too. He tweeted afterwards about making a few mistakes, but he thought the bonnaroo crowd was great. I loved the show.
I agree. I really like a lot of EDM and Skrillex is definitely not my favorite to listen to AT ALL. It's waaay too choppy, and I agree, mechanical sounding. This show was really really fun though! It was so insane to see that many people dancing for as far as you could see around you. His live show is much better than his recordings. It was definitely the place to be if you were fucked up (like I was). I'm still standing by MiMosa as my personal favorite late night. To each his own.

I watched it with CKS from the picnic table near the Superjam/GZA. Sound bleed was killing us. It was fun times breaking down why we disliked it during the break though.

maybe because i was in the pit but bon iver was too boring to be such a highly anticipated act

You're right. Bon Iver isn't even close to popular enough considering Justin Vernon's talent level.

I bet you were expecting the Beach Boys to be younger too

I agree. I heard a good portion of his set against my will because it was the loudest thing I've ever heard at Bonnaroo... ever.
I've listened to EDM for many, many years, but I don't like dubstep. It doesn't make me feel anything. I have heard some DJs recently incorporate dubstep here and there that was tastefully done which I can appreciate. When I listen to music I want to feel something. If you are a dubstep/Skrillex fan, what does it make you feel? What am I missing? Is it simply the aural sensation of the "bass drops" or does it move you emotionally in any way?
I guess I missed the booth where they were passing out robot ears. I bet if I had robot ears I'd like Skrillex.

Eh, it doesn't may me feel much emotionally. It reminds me of being on a rollercoster and being at the top and when it drops you feel excited. I also like the physical feel of the bass in my body, it's soothing. I don't listen to dubstep at home normally, if I'm cleaning house, getting ready to go out, or driving somewhere it's fun to listen to. Kinda like food, candy doesn't have substance but it tastes good and the texture is pleasureable. Same with dubstep, it doesn't speak to my soul but I like the texture of it and it's certainly fun to dance/hoop to.
