No to Tool because they are not in HO demographic; Jane's Addiction is interesting. I think they would be cool on the beach, but not sure of the headliner status. There would have to be a popular act elsewhere to support the crowd. Not sure if Jane's could entertain 30-35 thousand or more people this day and age. I would accept JA as a #2-5 bill on their respective day though.

exactly. Hangout has booked one metal band ever: Motorhead in 2011. The only reason they got booked (read added late) is because they were touring with Foo. I believe Primus is the closest thing to metal that hangout would actually seek out for booking. Also: consequenceofsound.net/2013/02/theres-no-new-tool-album-coming-this-year/
Everyone loves TOOL, but down here the biggest contingent of fans is people who listen to TK101 and would also pay to see Foo Fighters and RHCP concerts.
That new fest in St. Paul had DMB and Tool co headline last year as well.
The Breeders are definitely going to be at Hangout. They play ATL 5/15 then have no shows til 5/24 Primavera, nice! They're playing the Last Splash all the way through, can't believe that album is 20 years old.
I agree everyone does or should enjoy Tool- good rock band. But the question really is- can tool really carry a night at HO? I think yes, but to the broad HMF fan, do they care about Tool. I think a Tool performance only floods the DJ tent for the basic music fest goer 18-mid 20s. I bet more than half of those folks have no idea who Tool is esp. with today's music market. It is sad actually.

The reason for the dude's triple post is someone posted a group of artists last night around 3am, and I was lurking. For some reason Bonnafunky got all butthurt and complained about it, the account name was "theroguegs". The bands he named were Moby, Big boi, Yeah yeah yeahs, bassnectar, imagine dragons, the antlers, and a couple more I can't remember. I made an account just to break the silence. There is no reason to complain about speculation, ever. Bonnafunky should probably stay off the board.
If that was you, then you were making a new post for every band. why not just make one big post instead of being such an attention whore.

Tool would be perfect IMO. I remember people saying the exact same things when they played roo 07(my first tool show). Yes thousands would skip their set for some dj but the ones who didn't would leave blown away. That music/ light show on the sand would be EPIC. and I hate using that word. Give me macca& tool... ill take muse or mum with open arms.

I think Tool could easily carry a night here. They are still very well known and I think there would be a huge crowd for them.

WELL SAID!! 2nd'd!
"Can Tool carry a night of Hangout", wtf kind of question is that? Tool is one of the biggest rock bands ever, they would do just fine at ANY festival. Seeing them on the beach would be perfect.
I haven't seen them since Lateralus tour it's been wayyyyyy too long.
Also, who cares if there is no new Tool album coming this year? That hasn't ever stopped them from touring. Maynard has said he wants to focus on Puscifer (for some reason...) but Tool is perfectly capable of one-offs for the big $$$.
Danny Carey has an expensive esoteric book collection that ain't gonna pay for itself.

Not in the Hangout demo? Tool crosses many demos IMO. I know bros who listen to Tool. I know hipsters who have listened to Tool. I know people who listen to 92ZEW who listen to Tool. I know people who listen to TK who obviously listen to Tool.
I don't disagree with you guys in that Tool can still sell. I just doubt HO is not going with them this year. HO is probably only bringing in bands with new albums for HLers, unless they are a legacy act. Couple that with Japan the weekend before and a possible Ozzfest revival in America. I just can't see it. I would like to be wrong.

Obviously this board doubles as the Tool fan club board as well! Just debating guys; you guys are fans and have trouble talking about them objectively. I out of the Tool convo.
So what % does everyone give the chance of getting a line-up this week?

Or a hetty act like WSP, Phish, or Furthur.
Haha.
It's more what Funky said that I agree with. Tool not appearing at HMF won't be because they don't fit the demo of cant sell, it's because they have conflicting schedules.

I honestly don't think Hangout would book Tool or The Breeders. I'd love to be proven wrong on the latter, but there isn't a single band in the past 3 lineups that suggests they would go after a reunited '90s indie act. Ginus has already covered Tool pretty well.
I still think we're getting Soundgarden as a headliner when you consider the reunion, recent album, no shows in the Southeast so far (IIRC) and Cornell's main stage spot last year for an acoustic set. They're booked for Rock on the Range, so one night of the 17-19 is out. Nice paydays from two festivals should outweigh any hassels about hauling gear from Alabama to Ohio.

The guy with a huge gif in his sig and one as his avatar is calling people attention whores... on the board he posts to every hour...
Not optimistic on a line-up this week.- 25% This wait is wearing me down. But it has to be a good line-up if they are going past the typical release date. Right? Glass half full or did they whiff on someone big/logistical issue with one of the top few bands? Regardless, I think the outcry has to please HO, because the demand looks strong.
