I think the only real difference between the success of Dispatch and AF was that Dispatch did it in a different time. They used mediums like free taping and their full support of Napster. Nothing against AF, but these are just different times now.
Dispatch never played SNL, the Grammy's, wrote songs for movie soundtracks or had music videos when they were getting popular. They just used word of mouth to make a dent in the goliath music industry.
Really hope they play "Open Up"...a personal favorite of mine!
Agreed. I would also love for them to play 'Flying Horses'. I'm sure we'll get a couple of their new songs as well and undoubtedly 'The General' and 'Elias'
The General, Open Up... man this is taking me back to my HIGH school days.
The middle/high school nostalgia is definitely what has me so pumped about this show and I'm sure that's true for many people. I was pretty obsessed with this band for a good year or two in my younger days and after they broke up I was sure I'd never get a chance to see them live. Now that they are back together I have kinda grown outta enjoying them as much as I used to and I probably wouldn't go to one of their individual shows. This is why I LOVE Bonnaroo.

One of the few musical positives about growing up in NH, my high school obsession actually was fulfilled with seeing them religiously. I think there might be only a few spots here and there in their collection that I don't know the lyrics, definitely can't say that for any other bands... Too many great songs, but Prince of Spades is tops for me!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Interesting... I had not thought about it, but I've never seen them with a real "time slot." They'll still kill it, but it will be a bummer to see a shortened Dispatch set.

Well it's still possible they play one of the late night Which slots. Or, as of right now, people are claiming there are not enough bands to fill up the typical Bonnaroo lineup. Maybe we'll be one or two bands short so bands like Dispatch might be able to get a longer set during the day.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Any idea how long before the show I should get in line for the Which Stage pit? In my 7 Roos this is the 1st show I'm definitely getting in the Pit for.

Probably just right when the show before it ends. The non headliner shows shouldn't be too bad
I showed up right before Childish Gambino started and got 5th row in the pit!!!! I had never taken the opportunity to use the pit before, but will be in the future. Did anyone else see this show? It was top 3 out of my 8 Bonnaroo. They brought so much energy and definitely could have played twice as long as an hour and a half. The combinations these boys can put together with all being able to sing plus all able to play a WIDE variety of instruments is astounding. Hope more people watched the show. I will be catching them any chance I can.
I have NEVER liked the studio Dispatch stuff I've heard, to me it's weak faux jamband DMBesque garbage.
but they blew me away on the Which stage. not even sure why the hell I went, I guess I was nearby and figured I'd check them out with an open mind. really glad I did, they are very talented and brought a great energy to their performance.
