I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

It's been mentioned on the "top albums" thread, but I'd just like to encourage people looking to get into these guys to pick up their "Gut the Van" live album. I'm really hoping that's the sort of sound they'll be bringing.

Saw them last summer at Red Bull Arena and they sounded great and never skipped a beat.

Late night would be excellent. However, if Dispatch is late night the possible conflicts could be terrifying. Regardless I'll still be seeing Dispatch.

Used to love dispatch back in high school first time I saw them live was the "Last Dispatch" I doubt they will top that (they didn't at MSG or the TD Garden) but I am still super amped to see them again they always put on a good show.
I agree that it's probably down to the Roots, Skrillex, and Dispatch for the late night Which spots. Skrillex seems pretty much guaranteed one of them. That leaves the Roots or Dispatch with the other.
And if there's any justice to be had at The Farm...
Daytime, definitely. Probably a pre-headliner on the Which, if I had to guess.
I can tell you at this point that Dispatch is scheduled to close Which before RHCP take What. Not word on which day it will be yet. I'll def see all you guys there!

This would be perfect! Hope it's true! One less late-night conflict to worry about, but still late enough in the day that I can dance my ass off!

Just to enter the "Dispatch vs. Arcade Fire" fray real quick, Arcade Fire pulled over 100,000 for a free show in Montreal last year at a show that wasn't a breakup show, sold out MSG two nights almost instantly for shows that weren't reunion shows, and have been headliners at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Outside Lands, as well as Austin City Limits twice.
Dispatch 2011 tour dates vs. The Suburbs dates in similar markets, 2010-2011 Denver: Dispatch Red Rocks (x3), AF: First Bank Center Chicago: Dispatch: UIC Pavilion, Pritzker Pavilion, AF: UIC Pavilion (x3), plus Lollapalooza headline San Francisco: Dispatch: Greek Theater, Berkeley, AF: Greek Theatre, Berkeley (x2) plus Outside Lands headline, plus Bridge School sub-headline (x2) NYC: Dispatch: Terminal 5, Red Bull Arena, DMB Caravan sub-headline, AF: Madison Square Garden (x2) Atlanta Dispatch: Chastain Park Amphitheater, AF: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Boston: Dispatch: TD Garden (x3) AF: Bank of America Pavilion St. Louis: Dispatch: The Pageant, AF: Scottrade Center Theater Seattle: Dispatch: The Gorge (DMB Caravan subheadline) AF: Key Arena
Only in Denver and Boston did Dispatch play to more people, and this doesn't take into account all of the other Arcade Fire dates, most of which were sold out. Furthermore, the TD Garden dates were horribly oversold--I had friends buy floor seats to two of those shows for $5 each. Even leading up to The Last Dispatch, they were playing clubs and small theaters--that's some of why the Boston show was such a surprise. If Arcade Fire were to announce they were breaking up at a free show, it would blow the Boston show out of the water. None of this is to say anything against Dispatch, I'm a Dispatch fan (moreso in high school than now). But to say that Arcade Fire isn't as big as Dispatch "back in the day" seems silly to me; they're one of the biggest bands in the world, and even at the point of Last Dispatch, Dispatch couldn't say that.

This means that they'll probably be up against Avett Brothers or Bon Iver on What... I hope they're up against Avett and not Bon Iver! Seen Avett already in '10, haven't seen Bon Iver, and I couldn't handle a Dispatch/Bon Iver conflict.

Soooo you seem out for blood on this... You may be right, but I love how Dispatch was never signed with a major record label and achieved all they did independently. You have to take into account people had to actually find out about Dispatch, it wasn't force-fed down their throats by corporate sponsors.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I am another one who is super pumped for this. I listened to them a lot in high school, never saw them live and I know i would enjoy it. I think a pre-headliner set would be the most likely scenario IMO.
Arcade Fire - "The promise shown by the new band in its early live shows allowed them to land a record contract with the independent record label, Merge Records, before the end of its first year together."
Dispatch - "Dispatch gained much recognition outside of New England, without any help from a label."

Well aside from there being no source for that quote, I also see 4 studio albums all "Manufactured and Marketed by Universal Music, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc."

Ya who knows... I thought I had something there but I guess not. Either way I'm a big fan of both, and I really don't care who was bigger, just thought Dispatch did things differently to reach their peak in popularity than most bands do.

This I will agree with. The best example of this is headlining the festival Sunday: Phish made it to arenas before ever signing a record deal.
