Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think the highest billed addition to see at Roo will likely be no higher than somewhere around Yeasayer/Tallest Man On Earth. If the Lolla lineup is real I could see Roo maybe reaching to get something along the lines of Florence or Mars Volta, as I think it would then be the weakest lineup of the three major US festivals. That being said I'm expecting 4 or 5 additions between Danzig Legacy and Punch Brothers, and the rest (10?) after Punch Brothers.
I agree that Bonnaroo is shaping up to have the weakest schedule of the 3 majors, (4th behind squatch) although now that Beck appears to only be a rumor, Roo an Lolla are pretty close. I think that's more comment on how good the others are, not necessarily Bonnaroo being bad as far as poster line-up goes.
[Rant]
However, I AM super pissed about the Sunday thing. Overall Roos lineup is good, but Saturday night is shaping up the be pretty lousy. Assuming Skrillex is Friday, The Roots are really the only semi-HL band that has been at all relevant in the past decade on Saturday. I know it's all a matter of preference, and lots of people are excited about RHCP and Dispatch, but I didn't like them a decade ago and I don't like them now.
I really can't be the only one hoping for another big add not out of logic (cause logically it won't happen) but desperation. Maybe NYCH getting added my first year gave me unrealistic expectations but whatever. I'm bummed.
[/Rant]
Your rant is completely justified. It feels like something is missing.
Biggest concern, especially after the last few years, is the preheadliner slots. MMJ before Arcade Fire, Black Keys into Eminem, Stevie Wonder into Jay Z.

definitely agree, especially about saturday. However, the leaked lolla lineup (which probably isn't completely real) isn't really any better than the Roo lineup. Black Sabbath and Sigur Ros are huuuuuuuuge gets for Lolla but I don't think Sabbath is playing Lolla.
We're just missing a little at the top is all. Honestly I don't think Squatch or Lolla compare in terms of depth. Outside of Saturday evening, I'm anticipating conflicts for Bonnaroo Thursday ~9pm until Phish starts. That may have to do with exploring the bands in this lineup quite a bit, but I felt very similar when it was released initially. Gah, here's hoping for our additions tomorrow. This wait is killing me.
Don't worry they will get here soon enough. I would very surprised if they are not announced within the next week
I'd say the end of the month at the very very latest. They've never announced new artists past April in years past have they?
With Lolla dropping their line-up this week and Coach revealing their as usual late set times announcement and then starting their first weekend later this week, I would say we will get adds next Tuesday or Thursday
With 3 headliners, 3 preheadliners, 3 Which Stage closers, and 2 big late nights, it's very rare that Lollapalooza has a top tier as deep as Bonnaroo's top tier. However, this year seems to be the opposite; where Bonnaroo starts dipping into Bon Iver and Foster the People to fill out the top tier, Lollapalooza has Justice and Sigur Ros.

And I think that's the point sigur ros and justice are way way better then the avett brothers and foster the people. You can't tell me that foster the people are big enough to preheadline anybody or close the which stage.

I don't think Bon Iver is that much of a stretch for the top ten, but I agree with Foster the People and Skrillix are ranked a bit too high to make up for some of the lack of depth they have this year. Not to say I don't like the line-up this year, but it is considerably weaker in years past as a whole. I do think there are a few diamonds in the rough that will emerge a year or two from now on the bill.
Sigur Ros is a good grab for Lolla, but to be honest that is not a band that translate well in a festival setting. I remember when they played roo in 08 that the show just seemed out of place. They are a band better enjoyed in a more intimate setting.

Sigur Ros is a band better enjoyed in a intimate setting. I totally agree i would love to see them but its not that big of a deal for me. i just feel like we are getting a weak festival. i have a hard time seeing anyone besides these sonicbids acts getting added and its kind of a turn off to me.

Another disappointed Jack White fan huh? I think we will get a Americana/Bluegrass add and maybe a few more. Nothing in a top ten though.

no im not a huge Jack White fan. i liked the white stripes never cared for the other bands he has been in. i would just like to see more bands that people really gave a poop about. and yes this will be my first time at bonnaroo but ive been to lolla, FIB in barcelona, pitchfork and twice to a festival in germany called southside. but in years past i would look at bonnaroo and be WOWed at the line up and the add's and when I'm finally able to make it to my first one (minus Radiohead and very few others) its kind of just fizzled away. I love music. I love the festival atmosphere the people the camping all of it. I just was hoping for something more and I'm sure I will have a great time. alot of us paid alot money for the best show in the US and I think we are getting the 3rd best show in the US. but i would love to see some bluegrass get added or some old country. WOULD LOVE ME SOME YMSB!

What is this music people give a shit about you think we are missing? Other than the lack of Americana I am pretty happy with it this year. Certainly it is a lot stronger than last year imo. As to third best that is just subjective I guess, third best to you maybe but so far I think we have Coachella beat, and I do not think Lolla is going to beat us either. Like I said though it is all subjective just depends on your personal tastes.

[Saturday Rant Part 2] So here's a potential Saturday Line-Up card:
Red Hot Chili Peppers The Roots Shrillex Flogging Molly Mac Miller Childish Gambino Dispatch Puscifer Danzig Legacy Alice Cooper Umphrey's McGee Black Star Das Racist Big Gigantic SBTRKT Mogwai Yelawolf Battles Superjam Mimosa Spectrum Road Santigold The Temper Trap The Devil Makes Three ALO Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires Darondo
Would you go to this if it was a one-day festival? 10 years ago this line-up would have been outstanding, but there's not much on here to clue you in that it's 2012 not 2002.
It's mostly frustrating is that the weekend lineup is great, but this looks like what were getting for Saturday, the real heart of the festival. To be fair, I'm thrilled to have a chance to see Darondo and SBTRKT and the bottom half of the line-up is good. And I know plenty of people are perfectly happy with this lineup, but people also have every right to be pissed off by it too.
I don't know if I would have said that I don't "give a poop" about these bands, but ya, I don't give a poop about RHCP, Skrillex, Flogging Molly, Mac Miller, Dispatch and Puscifer, and those are 6/8 top Saturday bands. So, ya, I have runninguphills back on this one

alright i feel like im being a troll about some of this i really. but foster the people shouldnt be in the top 10! period! I've never heard of Mac Miller and they have this guy billed higer then MOGWAI (they wrote mogwai fears satan! a 15 minute masterpiece) I'm not saying this line up is all that bad. but there are some pretty big gaps. and yeah i had to do some digging and i found i really like trampled by turtles and sbtrkt and few others. there are some bands i cant wait to see that i havent been able to see like mogwai, st. vincent and flying lotus. i just feel like those other festival are going to have or have bands that are more revalent then say dispatch or alice cooper even ludacris. its really just my opinion and i should just keep it too myself i guess.

That's my plan as well, and lots of other peoples I'm sure.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

RHCP is not getting the saturday headlining spot over radiohead. and 10 years ago you wouldn't have half the bands you listed there.
