I have to say it never ceases to amaze me every year the negative vibe that comes around on these boards when the line up is released. I for one am a True Lover of all things Music and of Bonnaroo itself, so i think every year is great. They will never never please everyone so i think they ought not even try to. Just set up awesome acts like these and please 100,000 people even if it's not the same people every year except for a select group of us who are happy to just be on the farm surrounded by music and those who love it. Peace.
Im stoked RHCP, The roots, Luda and Alice cooper I don't think ill ever see these guys at the same place again thank you Bonnaroo
I usually discover one or two bands at Roo each year that just make me say "wow why havent I listened to (insert band here) before". This year i feel im gonna go home with a better recognition of so many bands.

Roots, White Denim, Big Gigantic, Punch Brothers, SBTRKT, RADIOHEAD!! I'm falling more in love every time I look into this lineups eyes! Happy Valentines Day indeed!

As long as Luda, Major Lazer, SBTRKT, FlyLo, and Kendrick Lamar happen when it's dark out, I'm good. Anyone else pleased with the lack of OFWGKTA-ness this year?
Also, I just made a preliminary "Custom Lineup" and there are 31 artist on there that I want to see... JUST ON FIRST GLANCE. Without even listening to the ones I don't know.
Ive been creeping around these parts for way too long and I just couldnt contain myself anymore now that this lineup has been announced.
Real psyched for the farm again this year.
Obviously we all know what the headliners will bring. But how can anyone say the undercard is disappointing. Something there for every taste of music. I personally can not wait to see Gary Clark Jr. rip thru the blues in a tent.
I don't understand why people are complaining about negativity. Just because some one says the don't like the lineup doesn't mean they are trying to be negative towards anyone else.

I wouldn't have minded Odd Future. I'm a big fan of Tyler, The Creator's production and Domo/Earl and some other members are bad lyrically. It'd be an exciting show with Earl back on deck now too.
And on the discovery note, I found Hanggai to be pretty good. Very interesting music, definitely the best way to accompany my morning that day.
Bonnaroo 2008-2013
0ct 11 Pearl Jam
Oct 12 Pearl Jam
March 16 Arcade Fire
April 29 Arcade Fire
Sept 4 Wilco
Sept 9 The Hold Steady
Oct 16 Pearl Jam
Oct 17 Gaslight Anthem

Because it's illogical negativity.
"Wah, Skrillex is top 10! The sanctity of Bonnaroo is RUINED!!!!"

I was asking a question for discussions sake. Why is it a problem there are two acts you dislike in the top 10? I've never had a top 10 that featured exclusively acts I like.
Look into some of the lower card acts you don't recognize and you may find a new favorite band.

I think my problem is that I've been to an Odd Future show (at SXSW last year), and the crowds there were the rudest crowds I've EVER experienced. Cigarette burns, no one helping people up if they'd fallen... I actually thought I was going to be seriously injured. I know 'Roo is different, but I don't think they fit in with the intended vibe of the farm very well. Some of their music is really good, but... not for Roo.

I love this line up! expect to see a lot more added to an already solid lineup. Very curious/excited for Spectrum Road. Given the members it sounds awesome!
It'd be a lot less weak if he had used his SUPER HACKER skills to get it early, methinks.
And I'd say the 4-10 this year are as good as last year, honestly. It's all a matter of personal preference, but it's really similar.
- Fast-rising semi-indie act: Black Keys (11) vs. Bon Iver (12) - Weird reunion that people are inexplicably excited about: Buffalo Springfield (11) vs. Beach Boys (12) - Semi-bluegrass band that chicks love: Mumford & Sons (11) vs. the Avetts (12) - "Pop" act that pisses everyone off: Lil' Wayne (11) vs. Foster the People (12) - Really crappy band that nobody likes: String Cheese Incident (11) vs. Skrillex (12) - Another sort of indie band that people who don't like indie rock are okay with: My Morning Jacket (11) vs. the Shins (12) - No real comparison, but f*ck it: Robert Plant (11) vs. Dispatch (12) (I left out Aziz because 11 didn't have a comedy act). , I mean, going down that list it's purely a matter of personal preference, but it's not better or worse, really. And Radiohead/RHCP/Phish is head and shoulders above Eminem/Arcade Fire/WSP (only Arcade Fire beats RHCP).
So, yeah.
You are such a sad, pathetic, little person, methinks.
It's a problem cause there are better bands out there that could take those upper level spots.
I'd say just skip it and keep looking at the other acts. Who cares that they are billed so high? There are talented acts (in some people's opinions MORE talented) lower on the card so just focus on them.
I don't care about Skrillex at all. Never had a desire to check him out. But I don't let it bother me.

One a side note, Earl isn't with OF anymore. At least not officially. He's working with a new Rep who distanced Earl from the rest of the group.
You mean the rep who tweeted that "of course" Earl is still with OF?

Folks, you need to check out Moon Taxi. They are a local band from Nashville that is starting to get a name for themselves in the festie arena. They opened for some of my best friends band The Incredible Heat Machine a few times a few years ago, and they are a very tight band. They will be well received at Roo and will be coming back in the years to come.
I am also going to say that another local guy will probably be added to the dj lineup when it is announced, and his name is DJ Wick-It The Instigator. I personally think he is better than Pretty Lights and he is getting a name for himself by playing Wakarusa and is on tour on the west coast right now.

It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

I'm also excited that i don't know a few of these bands but my daughter does and is going with me this year for the first time. It's her high school Grad present Yes she's a daddy's girl and she is going away for college in the summer so i'm glad i will get to spend some time with her AND it's in wonderland to boot

Where's the bluegrass.....? I've been wanting to see the Punch Brothers. Trampled By Turtles are always freaking great, but will probably have a noon or 1:00 pm slot. I'm hoping for some later additions.

I think this year's 4-10 are better than last year's. For my personal taste anyway.
It's a problem cause there are better bands out there that could take those upper level spots.
There are better bands that could take the lower level spots, too. The thing is, you could look at just about any band on there you don't like and be all butthurt and all "WHY ISNT MY FAVORITE BAND ON THERE INSTEAD," but it doesn't work like that. There are going to be 120+ bands on the lineup. Most people will like (if they're lucky) 60 of them. Most people will see (if they're lucky) 30 of them. Odds are, if a band you really liked was there instead of Skrillex or whoever, they'd conflict with someone else you really liked and then you'd b*tch about that. So basically, there are complaints either way and it gets old and tiresome.
