Brand new outdoor festival coming to Cincinnati. They call it Bunbury. From the same guy who first created the MidPoint Music Festival (Cincinnati's version of SXSW). Will be held at Sawyer Point Park on the Ohio River. Same weekend as Forecastle and Pitchfork.
Lineup will be announced in early February. I know someone working from the inside who (in mid-December) told me the big names were gonna be Jane's Addiction, Weezer and Death Cab. They were hoping to get Flaming Lips, but they passed to do some other festival that weekend somewhere overseas or something.
Tickets are cheap! $46 plus fees for one day, $93 plus fees for 3 days. Just over 100 bands. Been referred to as somewhere in between a Lollapalooza and Pitchfork. There's gonna be after parties too. I know Forecastle is just 90 minutes down the road, but at least take a look at the Bunbury lineup before you get your Forecastle ticket.
Remember - Bunbury lineup dropping early February, Forecastle drops towards the end of February.

I'm rooting for this fest even though I'm kinda pissed they picked that date. Hoping next year they make it the week before or after Forecastle so we can do both.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I might definitely have to hit this up, depending on the rest of the lineup. I've been looking for smaller festivals to fill out my summer after Bonnaroo.

Those pictures are from the kickoff party/press conference. They handed out half-price coupons for 2012 tickets. Looking forward, but a little nervous with the Weezer/Jane's Addiction rumors I'm hearing. Not enough to get me out to a fest, even in my hometown.

Any further confirmation on the date they will announce the lineup? It's my hometown, only a couple hours from me. It seems silly not to capitalize on this if it's going to be a semi-decent lineup!

Looks like they updated the website. It says artist announcement in March.

i'll go cuz i wanna support it and it's in my backyard, but i'm not that into either of those three headliners. wouldn't mind seeing any of them, but i'd love to see the National as the 4th name on that list, as they're from cinci and all.
You know of any othe artists performing? I will probably be going since it is ony 20 minutes from the house.
Unfortunately I have no more information. Was told they wanted to get the Flaming Lips (one of their members has a house here in Cincinnati) but they turned it down for more money at another festival across the pond.
I'd be surprised if both the National and Heartless Bastards don't play this thing since they both hail from here. I'd expect the Greenhornes to play it as well. I'd say Bootsy too but I'm not sure if he'll fit in with what they're trying to go for.
Any more info I get, I'll let you guys know.
And I can't say I'm really psyched about the headliners. Looking forward to Jane's Addiction, from what I saw Weezer was rather disappointing at Bonnaroo, and I just never "got" Death Cab. Might be rotating between Forecastle and Bunbury that weekend.
3 more bands will be announced tomorrow morning between 7:30-8:30 on the radio. 96 rock in cincinnati. i don't really listen to the radio but i believe it is 96.5 fm. they say the rest of the lineup will be announced over the coming weeks. i'm sure that's just a little bit at a time. just wish they'd announce it all tomorrow or something before forecastle announces their full lineup on wednesday. forecastle's a great festival, and i'm sure it'll be better this year, but the people over at bunbury would be wise not to wait seeing that they are competing with forecastle this year.
Airborne Toxic Event, Manchester Orchestra and Gym Class Heroes were added today. Can't say I'm that excited for the lineup just yet, but being that this festival will essentially take place in my backyard, I'm still holding out for something good enough to compete with Forecastle.

Not a one of those does anything for me and only mildly interested in a couple of the headliners. Forecastle is looking more likely for me even though I have to drive a couple of hours.
