you know, if it's not Alabama Shakes, it might be Deerhunter. Bradford Cox (Atlas Sound) is from Athens GA. I don't recall if we had flavor tied into Atlas Sound at all, but if we do, it could apply.

I was totally convinced it was Battles from the start also, but if anything, that tweet you reference openly denies that it is Battles. "You better check yourself" as in, "Are you sure about that?" Gary's tweets also confirm that the "Titans" reference IS a football reference. I've lost all hope in solving it myself, waiting for someone here to step up.. I like the Alabama Shakes one, but the "Titans-to-Athens" thing is a bit of a stretch.
STOP THIS

Its like a sad game of "telephone".... which happens all the time around here, unfortunately.

$30 will get us 2013 and and Ashley Capps will flip the fuck out thinking we either hacked his brain or that his brain with a self fullfilling prophecy or that his fate is predetermined. While we are on there I want to say something mean to get a pint of gypsy tears to add to my camelbak! I hear it stops the sun from murdering you all weekend if you drink them. Something about when the sweat first starts popping out it filters UV rays in ways sunblock never could.

For anyone looking into a new direction for this clue, it may be worth trying to look into the actors/characters/plot/soundtrack in Remember the Titans and Clash of the Titans.
Hear me out with this line of thinking:
Name amongst the titans --> Clash of the Titans --> The Clash --> Mick Jones. Mick Jones is our name amongst the Titans. The clash also considered titans of punk rock? I could argue.
Mick Jones also front runner of recently reunited Big Audio Dynamite. (Which I might add played practically every festival BUT roo last year.) Big Audio Dynamite has an album called "Kool-aid" which contains many Flavors. Whats your favorite flavor? --> Kool-aid.
Eh? lol
edit: in case my thoughts didnt connect well: this was a guess for Big Audio Dynamite
Upcoming shows: Ryan Adams 1-25-12 Red Wanting Blue 1-28-12 The Black Keys w/ The Arctic Monkeys 3-??-12

I was pretty convined that it was Polyphonic Spree:
A name amongst the Titans: Polyhymna was the daughter of a Titan and the Muse of muic and song or something like that. What's your flavor was asking which of the nine muses we would enjoy (obviously the music one). Also had a double meaning asking us what flavor of Spree candy we like. I think it's possible because you don't have to stretch anywhere aside from Polyhymna=Polyphonic. I also think that it has a good chance because I put myself in Gary's shoes. If AC told me to make a clue about Polyphonic Spree, how would you go about it? I would find a bunch of Poly words, one that referenced music (for phonic) and was not super easy to find. Then the Spree part if pretty wasy to figure out. Just made sense working backwards.
However... the Alabama Shakes one works well also and is much simpler. It might be too simple... but then again it took us forever to come up with the last part. But once you see that they are from Athens (a name amongst Titans) the Shakes part is very simple. Can a shake by crunchy though? I guess if you have some cookies in it or something. That is the biggest stretch for that one.
I think these are the two most legitimate answers.

Oh and by the way I'm sure many of you already realized this but I don't think it's been explicitly stated yet so I'll be the one to point it out: Athens could actually fit the Titans connection in two ways. There's the Greece / Greek gods connection, but it also fits the idea of a word that can be spelled from the letters in "the Titans" that some of you were looking for. (And the letters that you would have left over spell "tit." Just sayin'.)
Only problem I see is that last year we had no clues for artists that didn't have Wikipedia pages (and all of the clues we solved seemed to have been written based on the wiki pages) - so Alabama Shakes not having a wiki page makes me doubt them. A bit.

I like this. Best one I've heard so far and it checks out with everything we've got. Someone tweet this to Gary and see if we can get a response

so far Im pumped about Mogwai. for the last 2 years I have thought the Roo line up was vanilla and underwhelming, but if Mogwai is out as a taste, Im kind of pumped hoping that the rest of the fest follows suit with overlooked badass bands that would blow the lid off a tent, like in 06 and 07
I tweeted Gary about the Spree yesterday, but apparently he had a family emergency and will be on infroroo soon to help us out. Has he 'liked' any posts or anything?
So I know we've established it's not a bible verse, but 18 9 16 is about Babylon. Sooo..David Grey, obviously. Or...
Ferrell's Goulet Coconut Banger's Ball CD includes: Sisquo (uh, yes please) Notorious BIG (is the farm that powerful?) Snoop (obvious possibility) Dre (obvious possibility) Coolio (I would prefer Sisquo) Puff Daddy (Again, Sisquo would be preferred) Baha Men (who DID let those dogs out?)
So if we look at Snoop (real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus) and Dre (real name Andre Romelle Young), they are titans in the hip hop/rap world. I'm not sure how flavors would come in, though. Also, again with the assumption that they wouldn't drop a headliner clue, especially this early on. I'm just trying to think outside the box!
I listened to the Alabama Shakes for the first time ever last night after reading everything, and I hope it's them. That lady's voice is the most amazing thing I've heard in a long time.
EDIT:
Please ignore everything I just said, except for that I'd be excited if it was the Alabama shakes. I'm getting my clues confused.
