I just wish someone who was illegitimately raped came forward and demanded equal rights. Why should they not be protected by God's fetal-erasing holy wombs?
In case you hadn't seen, the GOP have distanced themselves from him with amazing speed with Romney already issuing a statement and several party leaders calling for him to resign his nomination for his upcoming Senate race.
What's even more amazing is the the Faux News morons are even calling him out. When something is even too effed up for them to twist it into a subversive Democratic plot then you know it's bad.
ehhh the republicans are distancing themselves to hide the fact that paul ryan is no better than akins.
"Akin, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives who is seeking to unseat Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri, is not an outlier. No less than Paul Ryan, the Republican candidate for vice president, shares his views. Ryan, Akin’s colleague in the House, has sponsored legislation with him that also sought to distinguish between types of rape: Instead of “legitimate,” it used the word “forcible.”"
i just wish romney would stop saying the exact opposite of what it is clear his running mate stands for... it makes it really confusing in my brain to try to understand how he can have such a drastically different plan/agenda/whatever from his potential vice president.

Romney is like a goldfish, he has a 15 second memory so they just keep feeding him BS to say (no matter how hypocritical) and he just mindlessly repeats it. This should make his debating with Obama interesting, since Obama has a functioning brain and Mitt is like a Romney Suit that his campaign managers just hop into and press buttons inside of. My hope is that Obama would smash Romney over the head with his weeks (and by that point, likely months) or hypocrisy and flip-flopping, but I fear it'll turn into some catch-phrase competition and I'll end up sticking an American flag pole through my aorta.
Akin...Biden...don't these people have writers anymore??? Guess the recession is hitting us in more ways than one.
Not sure you can really compare a guy saying that a woman's vagina is boobie trapped for rapists and therefore abortion in cases of rape should be illegal is quite the same as the VP using preexisting rhetoric (shackles/chains a common phrase used to show how gov't is trying to oppress people) that just happened to be in front of a predominantly African-American crowd so people are making a big deal about it.
Biden said something stupid given the political climate he is now in (whether I agree with the argument or not, it can be made because he did it during campaign season, 6 months ago this isn't a story at all), but Akin said something stupid given what he said is indisputably and categorically false.
The best part of ALL of this? Akin is on the Congressional Science Committee........SCIENCE. And he thinks...well....yeah....f*ck me I need to lie down.
Want to read hundreds of pages of documents on Romney's involvement with Bain? Have fun!
Romney has long claimed, despite evidence to the contrary, that he retired from Bain Capital in 1999. The Bain documents we obtained indicate that his involvement with the company extended years past that date.
That sound you hear is the flood gates being ripped open.
If the Democrats screw this puppy up, it will be their own fault.

As I have stated before, I like to gauge the viewpoint of conservatives using my admin assistant.
1) He thinks Akin is an idiot. 2) I told him about this and how it makes Romney's off-shore finances look not so much illegal as shady as f*ck. His response was to say that he didn't care because Obama is the king of shady behavior.

I'm guessing he didn't elaborate on that second point?
"This nonsense is what passes for mainstream in today's Republican Party," the statement said. "It's not only ridiculous, it's dangerous. It's crystal clear that Judge Head should resign."
Obama, Head said, will "try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations. What do you think the public's going to do when that happens? We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience, possibly, possibly civil war. ... I'm not talking just talking riots here and there. I'm talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms, get rid of the dictator. OK, what do you think he is going to do when that happens? He is going to call in the U.N. troops, personnel carriers, tanks and whatever."

A lot to take in. Seems like not much has been ascertained so far other than tax avoidance and investments in derivatives, which we already knew/assumed. They also gleamed that some of his money managers differed from him on political-economic views, meh. I guess I'll reserve judgment till more analysis is done on these documents.

The thing that becomes immediately evident, however, is that Romney has lied repeatedly to the people he wants to vote for him. The sad thing is most of them will still vote for him.

THis is just staggeringly insane. At least he's only a judge on the county level, but still. The f*ck is wrong with people.

The Republicans are still having their convention in Tampa. They aren't worried about Hurricane Isaac because their scientists tell them that, even if it's a "legitimate" hurricane, if you're a patriotic, god-fearing American, you won't get wet.
Republicans live in a parallel universe to sanity. I'm pretty sure on that anyway.
Sadly I live in the wrong parallel universe. And I'm in New England. The strangely redneck part of it.
A flyer came in the mail from Linda McMahon. I seriously want to run it thru the shredder. Not that it will mean anything, everyone else in the fam will vote Romney and McMahon to stop the dictator (n-word) and his army of welfare bums and criminals.

Next time your family goes on a rant, ask them why they prefer giving welfare to multi-million/billion dollar corporations instead of people who actually need it.
They are convinced I don't know shiz and I'm crazy
I have an aunt who watches FoxNews, and only FoxNews. It's amazing all the things I "don't know" about economics that Fox News told her, even though she dropped out of high school and I went to business school to study it.
This was a real convo I had with her a couple weeks ago (summarized):
Aunt Ellen - "Obama can't fix the economy, Mitt Romney ran a business he can fix Obama's mess."
Me - "Aunt Ellen, you do realize that this mess was from decades and decades of deregulation of specific industries, or the fact that we have turned into a society overrun with consumers that the country's economy will never recover until people are given incentive to save outside of 401k's and retirement funds."
Aunt Ellen - "Who told you that? Don't listen to the liberal media, they just want to keep taking money to help the poor (exact statement) and tell me what I can and cannot do. Obama played golf ___ times!!!"
It's like talking to a FoxNews script...every time. I even drunkenly got a pen at the bar and drew pictures to explain the income effect, and we've had that same convo twice since then. I know your pain LD.
My parents don't watch Fox News, but my father talks to people who do. His father (the miserable prick), his brother-in-law, cousins, etc... So he'll tell me I'm just being brainwashed and falling for liberal media lies. That they're all desperate for Obama to win, and will throw Romney under a bus any means necessary. Romney was a business man, and that's what we need in this country right now. Not some weird guy that gives money from working people to welfare bums. (emphasis on giving out welfare money)
My father barely got out of high school. In a town where they actually cared, he wouldn't have made it through. I have a college degree and study politics and history. But I'm clueless. I'm just one of those crazy kids that protests for Obama.
The three politicians my parents hate the most Obama Deval Patrick (Gov. of MA, Democrat, black) Barney Frank (US Rep, MA-4. Democrat, openly gay)
They couldn't tell you who the governor of this state is, but they'll just openly scream Patrick is a loser and a bum. Why? Gives welfare money to bums and cheats. Think Spanish or black people. Never said, always hinted though.
The most amusing part of this liberal circle jerk is the focus on ignorant Republicans, as if the majority of Democrat voters are well informed geniuses. But of course this thread is filled with people who absolutely love the two party system and furthering the divisiveness that comes with it...
I wonder what your average inner city Democrat voter would know about economics? I'm sure they could eloquently explain the advantages of Keynesian economics vs Austrian economics while sipping a glass of red wine!

Ignorance doesn't know class or race or ethnicity or political affiliation. It is more than abundant in America right now, across the board. I think the difference is that the right is proud of their ignorance. It's like a badge of honor.

That's weird, because the majority of ignorant Democrats I've spoken with are loud, obnoxious and will literally threaten physical violence for disagreeing with them. Stereotypes sure are fun!
