I think with the Conan thing they saw an opportunity to book him (as the announcement of a tour came out of nowhere) and they went for it. It was huge news and a big deal but they certainly didn't plan it out too well. I wasn't there but heard the horror stories. Perhaps it would have been better to just have him do one set of his stage show on the main stage and shuffle around some other acts or something.
Didn't they broadcast the Conan show on some screens? Like the lunar stage or something like that? At least they tried to help.

They should have put Conan on the What Stage like Chris Rock. The buzz Conan was getting after the Leno debacle was huuuge. The Comedy Tent was way too small for him. The comedy tent holds like 1000 people. Not nearly enough.
Conan as a main stage set would have gone over fantastically just like Chris Rock. But they dropped the ball. Even a Which set would've be satisfactory. Yeah his tour kinda came outta the blue, but with the venues he had already booked 'Roo should have planned accordin'ly. His Friday set was broadcast in the Lunar Stage field where on Saturday they showed soccer poop (sorry fer you soccer lovers out there). Not sure about Friday, but Saturday an overflow crowd was apparently directed toward the Cinema Tent. After bein' discouraged at the Comedy Theatre around 10:30am I wandered over to the cinema, started goin' through the line, and then bein' told that since I didn't have a ticket I couldn't get in.
Long story short, the festival quacked up with Conan. Although havin' him introduce several bands on the main stage was great. Just not enough. I skipped his closest shows so I could catch him at Bonnaroo.

Theres a slight difference between shows though. Chris Rock was just stand up. No extra set up required. Metallica had their stuff ready to go when he was done. Conans show required a full band and video screen usage and would require a bit more set up/break down time. I agree it should have been done but conans show would be a bit more difficult in between bands

its always sunny would blow my mind. a nightman cometh performance would complete my life! I'd also like workaholics to come back, Louis C.K. would be good, Tosh, i'd also take any of the guys from The League, although im not sure what their sets would be like at roo
It just wouldn't be fair to stick It's Always Sunny in the limited capacity comedy tent, cause the entire nightman cometh shindig (which I would love to see) would be an easy 25-30 minute set so it could be pulled off really easy on What Stage right before RHCP or something, or I wouldn't even mind them acting out another, newer episode of sunny on stage it just seems that the Nighman Cometh is more for the "theater" : ) Yeah I would rather them just not have It's Always Sunny if they were to stick them in the comedy tent! Well we probably won't get them anyways so no need to get our hopes up...
Could you imagine if they did the nightman cometh on the which or what stage. Just listening to 30,000-50,000 people singing
DAY MAN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaHHHHHHHHHHHHH FIGHTER OF THE NIGHT MAN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CHAMPION OF THE SUN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I think i just got chills thinking about that it would be soooooooooooo quacking awesome. This needs to happen NOW!
Just get rid of the comedy tent all together. I know it has air conditioning and when I volunteered in there two years ago. 4 hours in that tent was heaven but just put a small stage there and put the comedy acts on it. You can also have bands play on it or late night comedy. Problem solved.
Since Aziz was announced with the lineup I'm about 99.9% positive he'll be doing something similar to Conan in 2010 on the main stage. I don't see Childish Gambino in the comedy tent though, since he is actually going to be rapping, but it's possible that he will still do a comedy act. It just won't be Childish Gambino it will be Donald Glover.

If he announced a full comedy tour then I'd say it's possible (would be similar to the Conan situation) but I don't think he's doing much stand up yet. Just surprise shows in small places here and there.
Dave Chappelle could come to Bonnaroo anyways even if he isn't on a full scale tour. I mean Bonnaroo is big and all, but it's kinda a place for comedians of his style. However if he were to be stuck in the tent it would be a clusterfuck like we talked about before with It's Always Sunny... He would need a stage and I'm sure Aziz is mcing like Conan did in 2010. Chris Rock had a full comedy set on the What stage in 08. But Bonnaroo is constantly evolving and I like Mikey's idea of a comedy stage! That way nobody has to miss anything, and they could have musical comedy acts too like Flight of the Conchords, Weird Al, etc. and still have comedians performing stand up inbetween. But I was going to add another man to my wishlist of comedy. I know he's been mentioned before on the boards but I don't remember if anyone has mentioned him coming to Roo in 2012, and he's on tour right now. Mr. Joe Rogan!!! He is an amazing comic even though most people know him from UFC commentary or Fear Factor, the guy is seriously funny!
Dave's only had a twitter for like a week and I'm not sure he's even left the house in the past five years. Maybe one day, but he won't do Bonnaroo this year.

I really hoipe the ticket situation is better this year...you literally have to miss two acts to get a ticket and a decent seat.
Yea I was kind of annoyed they made a "line for tickets". To me that kinda defeated the purpose of having the tickets lol. Originally they were supposed to save you from waiting a long time. I never had to miss too much. Worst for me was skipping Childish Gambino for Workaholics but I'm glad that I saw the comedy and this year I"ll have Gambino again

Here's what I'd love:
Aziz Ansari (hour long on the main stage, possibly introducing bands)
John Mulaney - if you don't know who he is just listen to this comedy bit.
Reggie Watts Hannibal Burress Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, and Jon Benjamin (stars of Bob's Burgers) Anthony Jesselnik Comedy Bang Bang live (or any podcast live)
