So. I've been unemployed for an unreasonable amount of time and things are about to get desperate and in debt to my friends (which is something I refuse to do on principle). I finally had a job interview yesterday at the Guthrie Theater here in Minneapolis and it went on for a whole hour and I feel really good about it. The woman interviewing me said that they would be deliberating today and would let me know later in the day. I had four different dreams about it last night. It would be the perfect foot in the door for future jobs in the field I want to be involved in. It doesn't pay too extravagantly, but there is opportunity to pick up a lot of hours during the week. There are also stage-hand jobs that people are available to get after working in this theater for a little while. Running crew and working in the shops are a quick way for get a lot of valuable skills and make about $16/hour. I take solace in the fact that this is completely out of my hands and I simply have to wait and let it be.
tl;dr: I need money and someone might start giving it to me.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Has it been unseasonably cool this summer for anyone else?
Sure does seem that way. I had to close up the house because it was so cold the other night, low of 50.
Up here in England's bigger brother, we usually get a very humid and sticky summer, but this summer has been great. Cool mornings and mild days with little to no humidity. I could get used to this. Southern Ontario is never this pleasant. Either one extreme or the other.

The other day I went outside and was amazed at how cool it was... then I realized that was because it was the first day that the temp wasn't 100+ with 80% humidity since I moved here.

There is something revolting to me about huge lines of traffic on Monday morning. Thousands of people all getting up and going to work they most likely detest in the interest of a continued pay check. Shrugging off the relative freedom of the weekend for another five days of servitude.

We are watching all of the Coen brothers movies in chronological order, and last night, we got to The Hudsucker Proxy, which I had not seen in forever. Definitely did not remember that the guy who played Buzz (the elevator operator) was the same guy who played Pryzbylewski on The Wire.
How nice of Pitchfork to put out a list of the 200 best songs and 100 best albums of the decade so far. It's like they knew I didn't want to work today.
I'm going back to front in the 200 best songs listening to stuff I haven't listened to ever or more than once. I'm in the high 70s now after spending all day yesterday on it. Wheeee.
And I am not down with Beach House being so high up on the albums list. I guess I just don't get it.
Crazy that the top 2 are rap and Radiohead didn't even make the list. King of Limbs may not be their peak but still.
Comedy Central just added all the episodes of Broad City too. Additionally, at work today we are having a coworker birthday pizza lunch. Thinking about a long smoke break, free pizza, and Broad City for my Tuesday work day. Really strong work ethic by me today. Good job, good effort.
Added it where? to their website? I missed a few episodes.

I would put this in the GRRRRRRRRR thread, but I'm mostly just laughing about how I'm an idiot with too much pride. I'm visiting my folks down in Florida for a couple days and I forgot to bring shoes I can run in or socks (I only wear socks in the summertime except when I'm running), so I decided to go run a quick mile on the street without shoes or socks. I have blisters on all the important parts of my feet, so I look like a failed circus performer while I'm walking around this house.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

This was not your smartest decision.
See. My original thought process was to remind myself that I spend a lot of time walking around outside without shoes and socks on anyway, but my feet are not nearly as callused as I anticipated. So. You're 100% right about that.

To the surprising number of you that appreciated this post for some reason, you may be pleased to hear that I received the job earlier today! This is the first time I've had a job that could actually allow me to pursue something worthwhile and in an area of work I can empathize with. Fuck being condescended by ex-cons in midwestern kitchens.
Those guys think they're on the rise and that they're about to be on to bigger and better things, but after all the shit they've given me, in the wise words of Lester Bangs, "you'll meet them all again on their long journey to the middle."
