Fortunately/unfortunately I can only hire students so there isn't much reason to post to Craigslist. The University has two different online hiring services that I use instead. The flip side of that is the majority of the people applying are looking for their first or second job and it seems most of them have no idea what they are doing. I would almost feel bad for them, but the University has a very well publicized Career Services Center that has free services such as Resume and Cover Letter checks.
Have you ever had a student come in on their first day and try to negotiate their pay rate within the first 5 minutes? That happened to me recently and it gave me a pretty good chuckle.
Nope, pay comes up in interviews fairly often, but I've never had ask for higher than the minimum wage that every student starts at.
Work related trash talk is the worst. Everything has to be PG-13 and it's all so corny. I have bright blue shoes on and a coworker just asked me if I robbed a Smurf to get them. I can't take it.
what a dummy. smurfs wear white footie-pants. they have blue skin. seriously that doesn't even make sense.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Opening a cover letter with "Hello there" is an interesting choice.
Edit: Oh man I posted this way too early, this guy continues to explain he was a Lobsterman aboard the vessel The Crabby Marilyn in Middle School and lists the band he started in High School under Work Experience.
Edit #2: This guy is the gift that keeps on giving, he has a 3 page resume that includes how he was approached by some bass player of a band i've never heard of at a Guitar Center and asked to be his Guitar tech, a list of several mountains he has climbed, and the line "Returned cash found on bus to bus driver."
So you hired him right? This guy is one in a million.
I live in one of the shaded counties and previously lived in a different shaded county, but spent most of my life so far in non-shaded counties. I very much prefer loving in the shaded counties.

Nobody had my name growing up, which is funny because my brothers were Josh and Zach, each of whom grew up in times when those names were extremely popular. (Case in point, my husband is the same age as Josh, and is also named Josh.) The only Hillary I knew of growing up was an old man. And the first other Hilari I knew of was not until college. Incidentally, I still remember the first time someone asked if I was named after Hillary Clinton.
If we had had children, we were going to name a girl Gretchen Calliope and a boy Wiley Thomas.
Gretchen is a bad ass name except no one wants to share with me on the these new coke bottles. or have my name on those pens at the gift shop

i would be tempted to hire him for a pool boy or something - LOL. He just sounds like too much fun.

Fun is all fine and dandy until I'm stuck filling in his shifts because his band has a gig or its lobster season or something

Awwwww yeah. Me too, girl. Me too.
Ha, can you have a Freudian slip when typing? Totally not fixing that because it's better than what I meant to say.

I actually thought of you when I was posting that. It's my favorite girl name. I picked the first name for the girl and the middle name for the boy, and Josh picked the opposite ones.

There are 14 states with no shaded counties, and another nine with only one county. Those states have 46 seats in the Senate. (and 120 electoral votes)
I don't know if that's very interesting, but I just sat here and added them up and I didn't want to waste that effort.

If I was an undergrad with pretty much nothing of substance to put on a resume, having a list of mountains that I summitted (near the bottom) would at least lead for a cool talking point.
My one friend put "[Law School] Fantasy Football Champion '13" as a bullet point under his accomplishments at school and it ended up being a huge talking point between him and one of his interviewers. He ended up getting a pretty prestigious internship for this summer. Turns out they both drafted David Wilson in the 2nd round, and my friend spoke about overcoming that. He also had really good grades and yada yada. But those quirky bullet points aren't always the worst thing in the world it seems.
^I agree that the last section of the resume is a more little more lax about content rules and something different is definitely be to your advantage. Although the mountains is the only viable option listed.
