Something I was thinking about the other day was 3d printers. What if you could download vinyl albums online, and the 3d printer would make it? I guess the two things in the way might be that the material used in 3d printers is ill-suited for reproducing music on a turntable, or that the 3d printer couldn't print at a high enough resolution to include the grooves on the record accurately.
When I lived in Arizona my mom could always tell when I was in the room with someone because she said I talked different. My family actually teases the way I talk sometimes (they say I'm talking 'white') and now that I'm here my friends in AZ say they hear my country accent more over the phone.
I honestly never thought about it. I always told my mom I never did it on purpose. Glad I'm not alone!
People always think I "talk white" when they first meet me which I find very sad. I just speak English and abide by grammar rules
I think it's sad that some people believe the color of your skin should dictate how you speak.
Has anyone ever been to the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR? Mr. Limp prob has.
It's an old ass venue and the floor there literally bounces the entire time. Like not subtle bouncing either, at times it almost feels like your on a trampoline. Not to mention the venue is about 4 stories up in the building.
I saw a few shows there during MFNW last year and it scared the living shit out of me. After talking to some employees, apparently there are literally springs underneath the floor.

Only if you watched the TV show Doug when it was on Nickelodeon in the early 90's. Perhaps they were on the ABC version too, but that show was crap so I hardly ever watched it.

I've been there many times for both concerts and dances. 'Tis a cool place and the paintings on the wall make it even more neat. A few weeks back we were going to an 80s dance there. I guzzled a Four Loko and wound up puking on my shoes which then danced all over the Crystal. The bouncy floor is fun but it's normalized enough for me that I don't even really notice it anymore. Plus the springs are clogged with Gab vomit. A cool thing about that venue is in December a radio station brings lots of bands to play that'd normally not be in a space that small. I didn't do any of the shows because I was still in ND but they had Lorde, Phoenix, and Vampire Weekend this year.
Little footage of someone at Lorde utilizing the bounce floors:
My accent changes severity based off of who I am talking to. I noticed it a long time ago but have never been able to control it.
This is actually a defense mechanism like Hakuna said but it also denotes a "sympathetic personality". It means that you want people around you to feel understood and accepted so you become like them in an effort to create a comfortable exchange. Basically, you're just a nice person.

That's an awesome idea! Like if they made a 3d printer that used a slightly different (harder) material and you could print records from iTunes playlists and downloads. You could print full albums from one artist or customize compilations...kinda like how we used to burn CDs. You need to get working on that!

My first job out of college was all rapid prototyping on 3D printers. The machines that are precise enough (SLA) probably wouldnt play on a turntable. The materials that would play on a turntable (fused deposition modeling) come from machines that arent precise enough to produce the grooves needed. Its an awesome idea though

Damn, maybe in a few years they can make one with a high enough resolution.

Give it time. Anyone not investing in this game changer is behind...everything. It's like smartphones; before 2008ish I couldn't do what I'm doing right now. That was only five years ago.

You Ought To Hear This 7 minutes ago The Tabernacle was evacuated tonight after the floor was shaking/breaking during the Panic! At The Disco show....leading to a panic at the Tab. The show was cut short after just a few songs. Photo: The Tabernacle was evacuated tonight after the floor was shaking/breaking during the Panic! At The Disco show....leading to a panic at the Tab. weirdest thing ever. I've never been to a show that was evacuated for something like that before. I thought they were just fucking around until they started moving people. at first, they just moved everyone out of that section but I figured it would be a complete evacuation, which it eventually was... because no one wants that kind of liability. was it a soft call? maybe. sounds like the fire marshal responded cautiously, which is understandable. could they have continued playing if they took it down a few notches and the screaming fangirls in the front pinky swore not to rush the stage en masse? possibly, but it wouldn't have been as fun. the two songs they did play were great, I had never seen them before and they have an amazing energy. hoping to catch them when they come back to ATL in the summer.

my dad has a 3-D printer, it's pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Oh, reminiscing. This picture reminds me of my last project in architecture before I changed majors. I was basically doing what happens in this picture but with huge buildings. Architecture isn't the career path for me, but sometimes, I want to go back and finish that project just for fun.
