The real question is, did Vick just catch magic in a hat last year or is this resurgence for real. I think it is for real but this year is the real test
I think every Bills team has looked like a 6-10 team for about the past 10 years. I mean, why not just tank and go 2-14 and get the first pick instead of being in limbo for a whole decade? Who's their GM? Do they still have that 117 year old owner? Why in god's name do they repeatedly refuse to draft a quarterback? They're probably up there with the Raiders as far as worst team to root for over the past 10 years. At least teams like the Lions will be god awful from year to year and you know you're getting the top pick and a chance to rebuild.
Their 2nd year GM is Buddy Nix who was with the Bills in the 90's and then went with a lot of the leadership to turn the Chargers around.
Yes, their owner is the original owner and he's old.
They traded for Drew Bledsoe in 2002 and then drafted his heir (Losman) in the 1st round in 2004. Bledsoe was upset about having to compete for a starting job in 2005 and ended up getting traded to Dallas. Losman started in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 they drafted a back up QB in the 3rd round in Trent Edwards. Losman got hurt early in the season and Edwards showed promise as a rookie. In 2008 Edwards won a competition with Losman and then Losman was gone. In 2009 Edwards was the starter with Fitzpatrick signed solely to back him up but Edwards was injured and Fitz provided a spark. With a new coaching staff in place, they weren't sure what they had with Edwards and Fitz (and former 2nd rounder Brian Brohm) under contract and Edwards ended up starting out of camp in 2010. He quickly fizzled and was released with Fitz taking over QB duties in week 3.
So, essentially they had a legit starter in Bledsoe at the start of the decade. Then they drafted a 1st rounder who showed promise but never gelled. Then he was replaced by his back up (3rd rounder) who also showed promise. Then they had a new coaching staff who resisted drafting Tebow, Clausen and McCoy. This year they passed on taking Gabbert, Locker and Ponder with the #3 pick. I can't fault them on either of those decisions.
Probably more info than you really wanted on the Bills' QB history.
I don't feel like they are the worst team to root for but you're entitled to your opinion. I am happy to be a Bills fan and like a lot of what they've done. More than the QB situation, I'm much more frustrated with their OT situation in recent years. They've had some good WR's and RB's but not much protection. They've made some huge strides in their D this year but lack depth and are shakey at CB. They'll be improved, they'll be fun, they'll be third in the AFC East.

I agree with 3rd in the East. As much as I hate to admit it, it is a quarterbacks league, especially in the regular season. I'd take Fitzpatrick over Henne any day.
Last year nine of their twelve losses were to playoff teams [New England (twice), the NY Jets (twice), Green Bay, Baltimore, Kansas City, Chicago and Pittsburgh]. This year they've got New England (twice), NY Jets (twice), NY Giants, Philly, Dallas, San Diego. Five of them will be in the playoffs. They have Kansas City again, too, but I don't think they're likely to repeat.
Luckily, the Dolphins play all of those team, too! I think that the Bills should be able to beat them both games this season to edge them out. It really does come down to Fitz vs. Henne...
There is an open spot in the Fantasy League right now. The draft is set for tomorrow at 9:15pm EST (Sept. 1st) and everyone is throwing in $20 which will go towards a Roo ticket next year for the winner of the league.
If you want in the league just post in this thread you want in, can draft tomorrow, and that you are willing and can pitch in the $20.
1st come 1st serve. Another spot might open as well.

To get back to this, I also agree Bills will make third in AFC East. Not only is Fitzpatrick better than Henne. But Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller are better running backs than Reggie Bush and untested Daniel Thomas. Lil concerned over receiving options for Fitz considering Evans is gone and Johnson is no longer a surprise. I expect double coverage for Johnson. I'm not a Bills fan but can Rosco Parrish hold up?
It is draft night. Im 2 hours away from constructing a dominate team that will win me a ticket to Bonnaroo 2012. This is going to be the cheapest and easiest Roo ticket I will ever receive.

No, Parrish can't last a full season at #2. I think Easley will end up at number two by the end of the season. Haven't seen much from Donald Jones, though, so he's a wild card.
As far as the Phins RB's go, it's looking like Thomas may not even start the season as their #2 option. It'll probably be Bush and Johnson first. I love Jackson and just think he's much more consistent than Bush will ever be.
Come argue that's not a solid team. One of the top QBs, two of the best defenses, some solid offense. I got a VIP ticket, this will go a good way to paying that off.

Hardcore Troubadours
I'm a little worried about my RB's
QB - Romo, Sanchez RB - Foster, Blount, Starks, McGahee WR - Charles Johnson, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Garcon, Braylon Edwards, Branch TE - Witten, Winslow Jr. D/ST - Da Bears K - Janikowski
I probably drafted Julio too early, but I'm expecting him to have a big rookie year. It may just be because I saw the highlight of him breaking Polamalu's ankles before the draft started.
