I hate hearing the "bad calls cost us the game" routine. But from an impartial perspective, it was true in this game. But at the end of the day the Giants had an opportunity to stop them in the end and couldn't.

I get it aproo and you're right. The Giants couldn't stop Rodgers when it counted. But the call on the Jennings touchdown that wasn't and the illegal contact call that must have been because of Williams bad breath was like trying to fight somebody with your arms being held behind your back. I'm a Giants fan and I really don't think they deserve to be in the playoffs but then, by the same reasoning, neither do the Bears, Lions Cowboys or Falcons. They should just let the Saints and Packers advance to the championship game now. I don't think the 49ers are ready to challenge either of them yet.

Those were obviously bad calls and definitely had an affect on the game, but the Giants are definitely good enough to sweep the Cowboys so the loss may not end up costing them much.
On the bright side, I really hope you're all ready for the Seattle Seahawks to be playing the Arizona Cardinals in Week 17 with a playoff berth on the line. The Bears? Done. Giants? Done. Detroit? Sinking like a stone. Seattle gets the Rams this week, the Bears the week after, the 49ers (who will have locked up their position and won't care about winning), and then the Cardinals. Get ready for it.
If that happens, but a 10-6 Jets team sits home, I'm going to implode something large and expensive. I'm thinking Citifield, since the fucking Mets clearly have no use for it anymore.
Juggs: I'd be a lot more inclined to root for the seahawks if my hometown boy matt hasselbeck was still on the team. I do enjoy watching Marshawn activate beast mode, though.

Hasn't that kind of been the Jets story though the last couple years, losing games they shouldn't and winning some games they shouldn't? I'm guessing a lot of people didn't think they'd lose to the Raiders or the Broncos at the time they played them either. I wouldn't be surprised at all with losses to the Giants and Dolphins.
Jets @ Phins will be tough since it looks like they have finally figured out that this is football. Giants/Jets is always a guess no matter how good or bad either team is playing. Eagles are figuring out next year. If the Jets lose at home to the Chiefs they don't deserve to be playing in January either.

They played the Raiders on the road without Nick Mangold (who is the most important player, offensively) and were trying to sort through injury issues at OLB (they auditioned a player, who routinely got burned/destroyed by D-Mac's speed, and now doesn't play on running downs ever).
As Quack said, if they can't beat the Chefs at home (a game I will be attending), then they don't deserve the playoffs.
The Iggles, without Vick, are obviously a terrible team. The Giants are just as schizo as the Jets, so that game is utterly impossible to predict.
Jets/Phins in Week 17. An inevitable "must win" for the Jets, and my worst nightmare coming true.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. The 49ers will still be competing for 2nd spot in the playoff, unless the Saints drop a game before then, but more importantly that would require the Seahawks to win 7 out of 8 games, which I don't know if that's possible regardless of the schedule. Stranger things have happened though, so who knows.

Yeah, I don't really see that being realistic at all. However, if it actually does happen, Seahawks @ Saints would have to be one of the largest point spreads in playoff history. It'd have to be like 14+ the way the Saints offense plays at home.

I think it was like 10 or so. Seattle's always had that strange homefield advantage though. The Saints' offense in a dome is about as close to Packers-like unstoppable as you can get, so it'd have to be much higher I think.
That was Marshawn Lynch's first nationally televised Beast Mode performance, I think. He has been doing it for a while, but I think that was the first time people saw him play and were like
".....holy christ, how have I not known this guy was a monster?"

The funny thing is that Lynch had been decidedly average for basically his entire career up until this past month. He'll just always be remembered for that ridiculous run.

He has been a little above average, but definitely not great. The 1000 yards as a rookie was impressive, but breaking 1000 over 15 games the next year isn't that spectacular, averaging only about 65-70 per game. I can't recall any specific injuries, but regardless he has been pretty durable for a running back, never playing less than 13 games in a season. This season has been the best of his career, at least by the numbers, but for his overall career to date, he has been decent.

How many running backs out there get 250 carries a year but not 1,000 yards? I'm not going to pretend I know how the Bills offensive line was 4-5 years ago, but 4 YPC isn't anything special. I suppose the fact that he's durable enough to get ~250 carries per year says something, but he still won't have played a full 16 game season in his career.

I consider 4 yards/carry the line for good and bad. Below is bad, above is good. But even that is a bit subjective in determining the importance of a back. If you take a look at some statistics, I think you will be surprised to see how many of the greatest backs ever only average around 4 ypc.

Before the season I thought the Falcons had a chance to make it to the Super Bowl, needless to say, I don't think so anymore. Not that they don't have the talent, but there just seems to be certain times where the play calling goes to complete shit and I don't know what Mike Smith is thinking.
