I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
Arrested Development's "Tennessee" (hits everytime I get into the state by car)
"Lord I've really been real stressed Down and out, losin ground Although I am black and proud Problems got me pessimistic Brothers and sisters keep messin up Why does it have to be so damn tuff? I don't know where I can go To let these ghosts out of my skull My grandmas past, my brothers gone I never at once felt so alone I know you're supposed to be my steering wheel Not just my spare tire (home) But lord I ask you (home) To be my guiding force and truth (home) For some strange reason it had to be (home) He guided me to Tennessee (home)"
Always the first track on my Bonnaroo mix. Tennessee Jed is always the last track.
I'm goin' up the country, babe don't you want to go? I'm goin' up the country, babe don't you want to go? I'm goin' to some place where I've never been before
I'm goin' where the water tastes like wine I'm goin' where the water tastes like wine We can jump in the water, stay drunk all the time
I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away I'm gonna leave this city, got to get away All this fussin' and fightin' man, you know I sure can't stay
Now, baby pack your leavin' trunk You know we've got to leave today Just exactly where we're goin' I cannot say But we might even leave the U.S.A. 'Cause it's a brand new game and I want to play No use in your runnin', or screamin' and cryin' 'Cause you got a home as long as I've got mine
Always has been and always will be "Tennesee Jed." However, after 2007, it slowly started becoming "Heaven" by Widespread Panic. They encored with it, and it was pure beauty. Definitely a very fitting song for such an amazing weekend!
Everyone's tryin' to get to the bar The name of the bar, the bar is called Heaven In Heaven the band plays our favorite song They play it one more time they play it all night long
Oh! Heaven. It is a place A place where nothing, nothing ever happens
And there is a party. Everyone is there. Everybody gonna leave at exactly the same time. Its hard to imagine that nothin' at all Could be so exciting, could be this much fun.
Oh! Heaven. It is a place A place where nothing, nothing ever happens
And when the kiss is over, we'll start again. It won't feel any different. In fact it's exactly the same. Its hard to imagine that nothin' at all Could be so exciting, or this much fun
Oh! Heaven. It is a place A place where nothing, nothing ever happens Oh! Heaven. It is a place A place where nothing, nothing ever happens
I've only been to one Roo (last year's), and I was listening to a lot of Walk The Moon and Portugal. the Man back then, so I'd have to day, "Anna Sun" by WTM and, probably "People Say" by P.TM.

Speaking of P.TM, we walked by their show last year while checking out the fest T-shirts at the merch booth. We liked what we were hearing and stayed for the pretty much the whole show. Great show. I walked away talking them up to everyone.
So far from what I have read there have been some great suggestions, and the 3 I thought of right away were said. So for what's been said so far.....
(IMO) Honorable Mention: "I Know A Place" / "Ain't Nothing Wrong With That & "Going in the Right Direction" / "Shake Me Down"
3rd Runner Up: "Soulshine"
2nd Runner Up: "One Big Holiday"
1st Runner Up: "Desitively Bonnaroo"
and the winner has to be... "TENNESSEE JED"
This is purely my ranking system for songs that always make me think of Bonnaroo, not necessarily in the order of what I like. But let's be honest Bonnaroo Goers, what song makes you think more about our Candyland then Ten. Jed.
"Tennessee, Tennessee, there ain't no place I'd rather be Baby won't you carry Meeee, Back to Tennessee"
Roo 2007...Ben Harper and John Paul Jones blazing out Dazed and Confused on the What blew my mind. One of many Roo theme songs, but probably my favorite.

conor oberst and the mystic valley band- moab
I used up your compassion So I've come to make a trade You can hate me but just love me in return And if I know where to find you I'll stay out of your way I won't come beg to borrow all the happiness you earned
I'll just slide back down to the bottom While you make your place in the hills
[Chorus] There's nothing that the road cannot heal There's nothing that the road cannot heal Washed under the blacktop Gone beneath my wheels There's nothing that the road cannot heal
They say the sun won't burn forever But that's a science too exact I can prove it Watch, we're crossing the state line See those headlights coming towards us? That's someone going back To a town they said they'd never, yeah They swore it on their lives
But you can't break out of a circle That you never knew you were in
[Chorus]
Some would spend their precious time Trying to decorate their lives Taking measurements for some new look they want
So from one to ten, ten's exactly what I am Zero being everything I'm not
Tell me what you like Is it less than five? Is it less than five?
There's nothing that the road cannot heal There's nothing that the road cannot heal When I make it to Moab I'll get my canteen filled There's nothing that the road cannot heal
Washed under the blacktop Gone beneath my wheels There's nothing that the road cannot heal
