somewhere around exit 114 but theres a great chance it (and most exits) could be closed. if you wanna avoid traffic, you may wanna try the exits surrounding that. maybe like exits 105-113. if one is open, take it. basically, after I-24, you want to get to either route 40, 55, ragsdale rd and new bushy branch road. been awhile for me, but maybe someone could expand on that info. of course the easiest way would be to just follow the traffic to get in. you'll know it when you see it. for those of you in line right now, or even early tomorrow - you're not gonna miss any music. at least not the bands that kick off the main tents. cafe bands? maybe. that i can promise you.

everyone from I 24 is being funneled onto 55 this is ridiculous
is that 55 (near downtown manchester/off of hillsboro) to ragsdale, which i believe is the overpass of I-24 that runs right into new bushy branch (just by taking a right off of ragsdale)?
I'm on shift as a parking volunteer (haven't done anything yet, just chillin backstage), and rumor has it that they closed the gates. Not sure if it's true, but it makes sense if people are being funneled away
to all those arriving tonight - imagine how much longer it takes to check cars at the tollbooths in the dark versus checking in the daylight. wanna know why its taking so long? thats why. maybe thats not the problem. i'm sitting here in cincinnati. what do i know? all i know is that in 2009 i only waited 3 hours in line and last year only 1 hour. yes, 1 hour. and last year, i arrived in manchester around noon on thursday, picked up media credential at the radio station (probably took 30 minutes) and immediately went hillsboro>55>ragsdale>bushy branch. not sure what this area looks like now, but that's my secret.

Yes. Being funneled onto bushy branch now. I haven't been before but this seems like a horrible idea. We started at mile maker 116 heading west on I 24 at 715, its now 1145 and we just got on bushy branch
Coming down from Ohio...once we got past Cincy, 71 & then 65 have been a disaster. Tons of road construction/lane closures have us sitting around quite a bit.
My original ETA was 1 am....don't see that happening!!
How did you get from the 120s to ahead of 114? I've been stuck between 114 and 115 for over an hour.
I don't know if exit 114 is the same as the mile marker...
It is.
im actually next to exit 114 and it is closed, im thinking you saw 124, which would jive with comments about people on 24 getting redirected to the other entrance
If they are indeed merging ALL I-24 traffic onto 55 then it will be a VERY long wait...that is what they did in 2007. I always come in 55, in 2007 I was in Manchester and picked up creds by 11 am....I think we got into the festival about 7 pm. 8 hours in line...from literally half a mile from the interstate overpass on 55....
yeah 55/ragsdale isn't a very long stretch. that's what only took me 1 hour last year, from the radio station. my guess is they're doing this tonight to get all the traffic off the side of the highway at night. i think it'll be different in the daylight tomorrow. i'd expect the bulk of the traffic in the morning/afternoon to be on 24.

CORRECTION: I'm actually just past 117 on I74W. They are letting a few cars at a time to 117, but just a few.
There are three lines of traffic merging onto bushy branch. I was just told less than a mile yaaaaaay almost there
Yep that is the same way they did it in 2007...so are you ON BBR and less than a mile from the gate? Or are you less than a mile from the merge point. Cause even though it DOES speed up a bit after the merge it still took us a good hour once we were in two lanes on BBR....
oh how i would hate to be in that traffic line right now. not because of the congestion but when you finally get in, being this late at night, how tired you must be, trying to set up camp in the dark. i guess you could just crash in your car. of course i might be one of the few who like to achieve more than 2 hours of sleep a night at roo. only 30 yrs old but its great to get 5-6 even 7 hrs a night.
At the risk of making people a bit unhappy, here is what happened to us: We came in from the North on 24 and got off the Roo exit for 55 around 330 pm. They shot us past the entrance and down 55 where we had to turn around and get in line. There we sat still for 2 ish hours waiting for the gates to open. Around 530 we got in and they were splitting traffic toward the 2 tollbooths on either side of Bushy Branch. We got sent to the Northeast toll booths. I thought for sure we were BFE bound as we were early and thought that filled first. Luckily we are right next to the Pod 2 balloon. We were set up at camp by 720.
where exactly is pod 2 again? do you have a map? i know last year i came in around 1:30 pm on thursday and ended up in dr rumnack or something, by a line of trees. pretty much a straigh, 10 minute walk to the ferris wheel. nice spot.
Yeah setting up in the dark late at night is NOT fun...been there done that @ Echo. I think I got there about 9pm on Friday...had to haul all my stuff from the equivalent of BFE to where the group was camped (they all pitched in nicely!) and I think my tent was up about 3 am.....and only that early cause I was camping with a group that knew how to literally make a camp in their sleep!

i'm looking at the 2010 map and don't see a pod 2 anywhere. its gotta exist. from looking at this, i'd say anything that's not bfe are pods 3, 4, 6, 7, basically anything south of bushy branch. if the maps as same as last year, and you're by pods 8 and 9, you got a bit of a walk.
Still waiting on 55, inside manchester. Line's not moving at all really, which makes sense if they're merging three roads worth of people into one. I can see the lights if the farm over the trees on my left side. Lucky you who are already set up at camp!
