Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
And Moby has denied. Plus I'm not a big fan of how that looks. They wouldn't put the lineup in the shape of a diamond like that, too much blank space between artists. Looks too empty.
Good news. Neil and crazy horse have scheduled a live performance. Bacon is gonna love this
Noo! Now everyone is going to think he'll play Bonnaroo ;D
Hahaha I know right. Say, wasn't it exactly a year ago that we suddenly heard all the Buffalo Springfield news getting thrown around! It's possible. I believe!

Weren't we thinking it already that Bridge School benefit?
Their light show is pretty effin' awesome now. And you're right that they should be bigger than they are, but they probably won't ever get much bigger. Kinda sucks for them, because I think their guitarist is incredible now, but what do you expect from a country that gives multiple Grammy nominations to Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry.
just to be fair since you seem misinformed on the matter, Umphrey's popularity has sky-rocketed in the past year or so. they are THE prolific jam band on the scene right now and to say you don't think they'll get much bigger is ludicrous. i would not be surprised in the slightest if they got a LN Which show this year. their light show, sound, and popularity demand a stage that big.

I like them and I doubt this will happen. The best we can hope for in a LN This Tent set, hopefully an epic one.
I suppose you're right. They're not as popular as STS9 who always plays in a tent. They're so much better than STS9 though....I love the Umph, not gonna lie. I just got started on a huge binge of listening to them. can't have much more fun at any other live show, they know how to party!!

Not really. For New Year's Eve in 2011, they played the Pageant, in St. Louis. Capacity is 2300 at max. In 2010, they played the Riviera in Chicago - Capacity is also 2300. In 2009, they played the Aragon in Chicago - capacity is 4500. 2008, it was the Auditorium in Chicago, capacity 3929. 2007 they were at the Aragon.
So, if you assume that they sold out each one of these shows, then in the following years their attendance on New Year's Eve (one of the biggest nights for concerts, especially within the jamband circuit) looks like this:
If anything, going by those figures, they've DROPPED in popularity in the past two years. I think Umphrey's McGee is one of the better "jambands" working today (aside from their tendency towards cover songs, which infuriates me), but they remind me a lot of moe. in that I don't ever really see them hitting the big time. They've been a band for a long time now, and really seem to have stablized in that "large theatre" range - I doubt they'll ever regularly play venues larger than 5K, outside of festival appearances and the same.
i think that drop in venue capacities has more to do with their preference personally. They're from Chicago, so the fact that they played little theaters there on new year's just means they opted for a more intimate setting. They also sold out two nights in a roe at red rocks a few months ago. Wilco plays small theaters sometimes. Could they play much bigger venues? sure. They were on the What in 09. Sometimes bands just like the feel of a smaller venue. but it's not really a big deal to me, i just like Umph so i'm defending them. And it's not always valid to use the size of venues bands play to gauge their success. sorry for rambling
Gotta edit the curses when people use the "loophole" or "workaround" to print it.
have to do it when I see it
That's easily the lamest thing you've ever done.
What do you want from me? We get complaints that the mods let too many things slide so I'm told to make sure we're on top of things.
If I see a post with curses then I have to edit it. We just banned a person for saying racial slurs too much and we also had someone change their signature GIF because it had a homophobic word in it. I know curses aren't exactly the same thing but they are banned words. Not my decision.
I've even had to ask Juggs in the past to stop breaking the word filter by using the "workaround" and he said he'd comply but that he's not the only one that does it. I understand that and we can't just say "some people can break the rules and some can't". I know that we can't enforce it all the time 100% (can't read everything in every thread) but we're supposed to when we see it.

How am I misinformed? They've played the same venues in NYC for basically the entire time I've lived here (going on 8 years now). Have they gone from 2 nights to 3 at the Best Buy (or Nokia, or whatever it's called)? Yeah. Do they still play at Brooklyn Bowl in front of 1,000 people (at most)? Yeah, they do.
I didn't say they won't get bigger, but to expect them to make some kind of jump to SCI status, for example, is setting yourself up for a letdown. They'll be around for a long time, they have a steady and loyal fan base, but they're not playing the Which on a late-night. It's just not happening. Say I'm ludicrous all you want, they aren't on par with SCI, they are a tent band for LN.
The stage they played their set on at Mountain Jam was no bigger than any tent stage at Roo, with less people.
You're vastly overrating their pull, I think, and this is coming from a huge fan.
Alright, this guy is my new favorite poster. I've never seen anyone spell "row" wrong. moe. on the brain maybe?
::Waits patiently for Rosko to make a typo so I can be a dickbag to him::
Haha, how long have you been waiting for that opportunity? Couple years?
I almost always re-read my posts after posting them and edit them when necessary, so you'll have to be quick to the trigger there, Raylan. I wasn't trying to be a dickbag either btw, just found that typo particularly amusing.
Edit: Now I bet you'll dig up an old post where I made a typo. I'm sure there's at least one.
You should grant me access to edit other posters, I can be like the WikiPolice or the official editor of Inforoo. There will never be another typo on Inforoo again; however, you may find people saying things they wouldn't normally say and expressing opinions they wouldn't normally express.

Sorry I'm lame
I didn't say you were lame, I said what you were doing was lame.
I just think it looks like you're going out of your way now to enforce everything. People found the filters infantilizing, they worked around them, now you're editing people's posts. It looks bad when there's an edit and it's not by the original poster.
