And secede, welcome to the board. I can already tell I'm gonna like you.
thanks! I felt like it was about time to finally join the conversation. there's no better time to do this than just weeks before the lineup drops.
if i were to have said to have had insider knowledge this past November and state that our headliners would be Radiohead - Phish - RHCP (with an obvious chance for Atoms for Peace), i feel the board would be very pleased with that top 3. I'm not sure why now we must have another expensive headliner. Honestly, Radiohead is enough for me.
I'm not gonna lie, seeing Radiohead live is a dream of mine. I heard about Bonnaroo, for the first time, my senior year of high school, in 2007. One year after fucking Radiohead was there. I missed it. This is going to be AWESOME. Another band I can mark off the bucket list (Tool, Nine Inch Nails...)
That being said... I'm pretty damn excited for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a different way. I mean, it's 9 years old at this point (WOW!), but "Live in Hyde Park" is a good live album. I'm sure being there in person will be better. I'm sure they're still a good live band, and for a festival set, they can't just play stuff off their new album and that's it.
I love Manchester Orchestra but I'm curious as to how popular they are in the South. I saw them in Nashville in the fall and it was the worst/most disinterested crowd I've ever seen at a concert. I'm completely turned off of seeing a show in Nashville again after that. Seriously it was awful.

Don't be dissauded. Nashville crowds are tough sometimes. Hard to impress, on account of most everybody's got strong music in their backgrounds here.
One good eample is The Tragically Hip playing down here. A truly great band -- literal gods in Canada. But prolly 200 people showed up for their last performance here. Sometimes, we just stare at our shoes.
Come down for a Ryman show. Say, Wilco or MMJ or Bon Iver.

We make a better crowd for those.
You're probably right. I was just so disappointed. My best friend and I had heard what a great music town Nashville was so we got a group to come down for the weekend. Then we get to the show and while Man O put on a great show everyone in the crowd was just carrying on in conversation rather than enjoying the show. I really don't mean to knock your town. We were just really disappointed that night.
I am also a huge Man Orch fan. They are obvioulsy big here in Atlanta since they have roots here. Their fans here are nuts and their live shows are gigantic sing alongs. They destroy it every time and just watching their freak of a keyboard guy is awesome in itself. I actually just scored tix to see them in a secret show here in Atlanta at a small club to kick off their tour!! Saw them with Cage the Ele a few months ago and it was an amazing night. Gotta have them at Roo!!
They build it up live so amazingly too. And they always jam through their set. Of course we get special treatment here. And I am not sure why they would not have a good crowd in TN. They are from the south so of course they have a good following here. Dirty South!!

They've always had a big crowd in New Orleans and Baton Rouge too. I'd love to see them at Bonnaroo this year. I saw Miike Snow while they were playing in 2010. Their keyboard guy is really cool. I hung out with him until 5:30 a.m. in New Orleans after the last time I saw them, and it was all because he thought a girl in my group was sexy. We were also buying him drinks. We ended up using the bathroom in their tour bus, which I was pretty excited about. Then, Andy Hull came out of the back in his boxers and said, "What the fuck, Chris? It's almost 6 a.m."

Also, now that radiohead, rhcp and phish are all confrmed i think Radiohead * Phish (x2) * RHCP makes the most sense. Those are 3 VERY HUGE names and its def gonna be enough to sell out roo fast. Im not even worried about the possibility of the undercard not being good. Honestly what's kept me from not going the past 2 years (besides $) was the headliners. Undercard was really impressive (imo) both years but idk i just feel like if im paying over $300 for a music festival i want at least one huge name so i can say from top to bottom that lineup is worth it. and this year there's 3.
Radiohead - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Phish (possibly x2) is a hell of a top line for any festival, no matter who you are.
THERE IS NOT GOING TO BE ANOTHER HUGE ACT SQUEEZED INTO THAT TOP 3.
Not to call you out, rockthegarden. That was for everyone.
Yea, I've come to realize this. I just got too greedy for a minute after the RH accouncement, ha.
So who are we thinking are going to be the pre-headliners? I don't think its going to be anyone like Muse or The Killers. I think it'll be someone less mainstream.

Let's get The Hip 5th on the bill!
Also, Manchester Orchestra was great in Roo 2010, would love to see em again!

Fucking right lets get the hip on the bill. I would even except a gord solo set. And on the subject of pay i would say these headliners are more expensive then last years. But if it is 2 Phish, RHCP, and Radiohead it may be cheaper the Eminem, Lil Wayne, Arcade Fire, and WSP. I dont know enough about this to be sure but I imagine Lil Wayne's pretty expensive

That is an awesome top three, however with insider stating she was using the term headliner loosely is open for interpratation. It could mean 2 Phish shows, it could mean there is one more big name, it could mean the next three lower acts could also be called headliners. Me, I think this is awesome but it is not as diverse. So, I will not be suprised by some other big act. But you are right maybe not huge, maybe not top 3. But maybe close.
