The clue insider gave was perfect for days of conversation. Any more hints will most likely give it away. She capitalized that 2 of the most discussed acts have names that start with an R. Personally I think RHCP is 100x more likely to make their debut at Bonnaroo than Radiohead is to return. They tend to spread out their festival appearances and I just don't see a set that's heavy on King of Limbs material to be the right #1 headliner for Bonnaroo.
Of course, maybe it's just the Raconteurs in the 4th or 5th slot. Didn't her definition of "headliner" last year include Black Keys and MMJ?
I saw them in 2000 with the Foo Fighters opening and they were horrible. Foo Fighters blew them off the stage.
This seems to be the consistent feeling towards RHCP. Please, Insider, just let me know it's not RHCP. I can handle literally any of the other "R" bands, hell I'd be thrilled with almost any of them. Just notttt RHCP.
I thought they were fantastic in 2000 (although I agree Foo Fighters were better, especially with a little help from Frampton). However, their headlining set at Lolla 2006 proved to me that they're not willing to give the casual festival fans what they want.
Lolla 2006 Setlist: Can't Stop Dani California Scar Tissue Charlie Fortune Faded Readymade Throw Away Your Television Snow ((Hey Oh)) Me & My Friends For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her (Simon & Garfunkel cover) Wet Sand Right On Time Don't Forget Me Tell Me Baby By the Way Encore: Give It Away
To everyone who's seen RHCP live, what did u think the first time u saw them?

I also saw this tour in 1999. I honestly don't remember a damn thing from the RHCP portion of the show, but that Foo Fighters set is what started my obsession with Dave Grohl. (Also, Peter Frampton came out and played with the Foos! RHCP couldn't top that)
Actually not that it would happen, but a Late Night Radiohead/Phish superjam on the What would be the stuff of legends, and make Coachellas lineup look the Wichita county fair.
Oh Goddammit Jess.
Oh get off it, that was not even the stupidest thing on that page.
(Also, Peter Frampton came out and played with the Foos! RHCP couldn't top that)
Was this another show in 1999 or the Starwood gig in 2000? I was under the impression this only happened that one time as Frampton was living in Nashville.

It was the Starwood show, but I am 90% certain that was a fall 1999 show. I was a senior in high school.

Yes. Headliner to Insider, as she has said, means "prime time" slot - as they probably don't have the general schedule made up, but it would be some band that would play the actual headliner slot or pre-headline/close Which or a main LN on Which/What. Plant, Keys, MMJ, AF, WSP were confirmed last year (+ Eminem in a vague way).

Huh? Those R and vowel hints were about 1 band. Where did you see 2?
Sorry, I meant to type "She capitalized on the fact that two of the most discussed acts...". She knew we were discussing Radiohead and RHCP extensively and she simply implied it would be one of those acts. I think she knew most people preferred a returning Radiohead, so it was a way to hint at RHCP while fueling the RH fire a bit.

I think basically all carligula is saying is that she is screwing with us by playing off the fact that there are multiple bands that start with R that we have discussed.
theyd be aiming to land a more mainstream act in the Hiphop and Pop category.
Unless they couldn't land one of the big acts (Dre & Snoop, Watch The Throne), so they loaded up on undercard hip-hop/rap/pop type acts.
They don't have to have a "rap" headliner. Unless it's Drake, who would close Which, then there won't be a "rap" headliner this year. Mark my words. And Gaga and Madonna seem too out of left field (although I guess Madonna is touring). We didn't have one in 2009 (unless you count Beasties, but I don't really identify them with the rap crowd in all honesty).

Yeah, there are quite a bit. Obviously RHCP & Radiohead have been talked about, but Rage/Stones/Roger waters also fall into this category, and Rage isn't that unlikely to be truthful (headlined Lolla & Coach & Vegoose & Voodoo, plus it's an election year).
She's been vague before ("a major rap act") but doesn't talk in riddles.
