Forgive my ignorance but did Coachella ever come out and provide the logisitics and/or answers to the questions fans have/had about running a festival 2 weekends in a row?? For example was there a clear cut reply to whether the acts booked are gonna be forced/required to play identical setlists at the identical set times both weekends?? Or is it moreso the acts will decide what they play for each set each of the two weekends??
I highly doubt the promoter has a say in any bands set lists.

Considering Coachella is almost the entire width of the country away, I'm not counting this as a win until I am inside those gates. ;D Awesome to see things mostly worked out for people today, even with the hassles.
^Festivals are all the rage these days. It only took America 60 years to catch on. I'd say with a stellar lineup, Roo will also have a chance at selling out in record time this year. But it really all comes down to a few big gets.
Nice. And maybe go see these guys for those who are interested. ANY valid state ID will do, plus ANY random California address which will NEVER be verified is all you need. Just saying...

Totally. One artist can sell an entire festival to a lot of people. I'd like to think that Pulp is the reason it sold out so quickly, but I think it has more to do with the superstar DJs (David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia).

My guess would be don't expect too much in terms of additions. Maybe some smaller bands to fill the open spots (if there are any), but don't expect any bigger bands. With a sell-out there is no motivation for Coachella to throw more money at bands.

this is in addition to suggestions to do in the area...
(i grew up in the desert - and luckily there is a lot more to do nowadays than there used to be.)
check out www.thecoachellavalleyartscene.com/ if you are going to be staying awhile. there is a great underground music scene that should not go overlooked. if you like hiking/walks, consider visiting the coachella valley preserve (http://coachellavalleypreserve.org/)... you basically walk on planks which are on top of the san andreas fault in the middle of a palm tree oasis! and if you are stuck in that long a$s line on jefferson between westward ho & 111 consider sending a friend for tacos to tacos gonzalez on the northeast corner of jefferson & 111. delicious.

i really think we are living in a golden age of music festivals. who knows what the future will bring?
i find it odd that as the entire world economy, the popularity of music festivals just skyrocketed. maybe its because better music is made when artist's perception of life is more doomy and gloomy? maybe its because when the economy tanks everyone adapts a screw it lets party attitude? maybe it is somehow all attributable to phish and phish's greatness?
For those going to Coachella this year, do yourself a favor and catch the Fanfarlo set! One of my favorite sets from 2010 (was like the 2nd show on Thur) and I hadnt even heard of them going in. They blew me away.

Oh yeah. Fanfarlo is one of the better bands on the bottom line of the bill. I'm hoping that they don't conflict with Wild Beasts or Metronomy, but chances are that I'll have to pick one of the three.
Im trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to fly or rent a car and drive. But flying its hard to take what you need with you. Drive for a day and spend as much as a flight or fly and have a fucking headache trying to take with what i need

Yeah I'm flying in. Knoxville to LAX. I know Ontario is closer, but Frontier doesn't fly there, so I don't have a choice.

im leaning more towards flying in. Instead of a day trip it turns into 5 hours. I can fly into Palm Springs. Im just worried about taking an air mattress and a tent on a plane. I hate checking luggage and only ever take a carry on.
