Jess, I see your reported posts. Generally, they get taken care of. We do what we can. In recent months, I probably lock and move more Troo Music crap than anyone else on the board. It's where I look when I first get on, because nine times out of ten, that's where the problems are. Just because we're not participating in every tedious, terribly repetitive, round of misinformed lineup speculation and post count boosting bullsh*t, doesn't mean we're not doing our best at moderation.
I understand that, but it is not more than anyone else. I think it is fair to say I am on here as much as anyone, and roofan locks and moves at least 90% of the threads that have been taken care of in the last year. I don't care if you guys talk in threads, I care if you moderate, and that is what has not been happening. Come on dude during lets say this year between early February until the lineup release our busiest time how often did you get on here and mod stuff?
Please don't take this personally by the way teine is one of my best friends and he is included on my list of absentee mods. Like I said before I just think it is unfair for mods to come in and act like supercop when they pretty much had been ignoring the board for the previous year. So far since this drama started things have been better for maybe two/three weeks, but before that this board got run down and it is not really solely the fault of the users here. It has a lot to do with the lack of moderation as well. This is not a secret by the way all the mods I am friendly with have known my feelings on the matter since January.
When I report a thread and then I look the next morning and you, CKS, and danbird, and Dirty Brooklyn have been on and it is not locked until roofan gets on I think a fair assessment is that not everyone is doing their job, and this was happening frequently.
Come on, Jess. Do I tend to mod more when people are actually posting? Yeah, I do. When are the duplicate threads and forum crapping actually happening with any sort of regularity? Not surprisingly, when people are actually posting en masse. As best I can tell, only a handful of people actually get really worked up over these issues in the real "off-season."
^Nobody was modding this place before the lineup drop this year, except roofan coming in once a day and sweeping up messes. I am sorry dude but I am on here as much as anyone, and I am not blind. Ask ITM about how long it was taking for duplicate/stupid threads to get modded this year. This board has lacked leadership, and while you guys can call us out for cutting up and being bullies, it is just as fair for you to be called out for lack of leadership until things went all the way to hell in a handbasket.
Dude, is this over you not being made a moderator? Seriously?
It's a message board, Jess.
I'm done with this.
I don't want to be a moderator, I want this to be a well moderated message board, there is a pretty fucking big difference. Honestly I really would not want to mod this place I prefer being able to be a smartass and get in the thick of things, and also seems pretty thankless. Same as you though I am out, maybe instead of worrying whether or not someone else wants the job some of you guys should do a little searching and decide if YOU want the job.

having to read the snarky, holier then thou posts by nod, jess and those that think they are the ish because they have several thousand posts is aggravating as hell. when i joined i found so much help in this board, but recently i'm less and less inclined to post because certain people create an atmosphere here on the boards that doesnt jive with atmosphere cultivated on the farm. meh meh meh, my 2 cents, whatever.

Contrary to popular belief, nobody actually thinks they are cool for having several thousand posts as you and others have stated. I get so tired of reading people post that. I'd argue that any of those people don't even pay attention to their post count and don't care how many they have.
It just so happens that the people with several thousand posts have been here a long time and consider it a very important internet community and may be a little more outspoken about keeping things coherent and manageable.
Are there a few bad apples and are some people a little more harsh then they need to be at times? Perhaps. But that goes on anywhere.

Yes. Exactly. I did not say everyone with several thousands posts acts this way, but like you said "a few bad apples" certainly do. I stand by my statement. Some of the most helpful people on here have high post counts, please don't take what i said the wrong way

I understand what you're saying and you're right. I just have noticed a lot of comments where people will say something along those lines and it rubs me the wrong way.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself

This. The only time that I even pay attention to post counts is pre- lineup and that is only if they are posting a rumor.
Personally, this place has gotten kinda "cliquey" in the past couple of years and it's made it less fun to be here. We'll always have trolls and attention whores, but we can't let it get outta hand.
Realistically I think the best thing to is unban/unsuspend everyone who has gotten caught up in this, including the ones I do not care for and ask them to dial it back a notch, I will do the same I am the first to admit I can get a little heavy on here especially after some alcohol/corn. Also at the same time a commitment from the mods to try to be around more, and mod more would be nice, and solve most all of these problems.
Whoa whoa whoa..you can suspend my chat friends, but how dare you change the title of MY thread! I know this thread has grown bigger than me, but where are my rights
This should be a lesson to all of you - all it takes a little cooperation and we wont have any issues.
As far as being an absentee leader, all I can say is that there is plenty you don;t see that goes on behind the scenes. Without this place would cease to exist. I'm happy with my role out of the public eye, I get to be our primary liaison with AC and Superfly, the media, and others. Beyond checking in on the board periodically I also stay in pretty much constant contact with ODB, luckily he lives right across the river, and ODB is in constant contact with the rest of the staff. Its a classic top-down organizational structure that flattens at the bottom where we give the mods a lot of leeway. So while I may not be in here as often as I was say six years ago, i'm still proud of my contributions to Inforoo™'s continued existence.
Yeah, but you can understand why there's legitimate criticism there, right? When you sent out those PMs a month ago, I checked your Previous Posts listing and it showed a gap of two and a half years between some of your most recent posts. That gap was from during Bonnaroo 08 up through December of 2010. You can understand the impression that makes on someone who's only been here since December 2007, right? When you don't stay as involved, sometimes your actions can come across as outside meddling from someone without a finger on the pulse. I mean, I barely know you and I've been here for three years and five thousand-some posts. I'm not saying that can't or shouldn't change, but it's an observation and not a personal attack.
I see nodepression is back... Is anybody still banned from participating in that room? Is everybody friends here now? If not, how can we make that happen?
