You & Me was my favorite album of 2008, but from time to time, that's surpassed by Bows + Arrows as my favorite album by the band. It just holds a special spot in my heart. Can't say I've seen them live since about 2005 (?), though, so it has obviously been far too long...
Edit: Was that the only time I ever caught them?! Wow.

Woah, didn't realize Deerhunter are 16 spots ahead of The Walkmen. Holy shit. Definitely thinking Deerhunter won't be Thursday then if they're that high (relatively) on the lineup.
Walkmen are much bigger than Blitzen Trapper methinks.
Not 'round here at least. Blitzen Trapper sold out Cat's Cradle twice in the last two years, The Walkmen didn't when they were there in January. Plus, we sell more Blitzen Trapper records than Walkmen records. Although, it's close.

Maybe it's more of a northern thing, but I feel like Walkmen are much more talked about/play bigger venues up here. They also played a later slot at Pitchfork when I went in 09 than Blitzen Trapper.
They're also not as boring as Blitzen, but that's personal opinion.

I'll preface this by saying that when I saw BT at Lolla last year, it had more or less just stopped pouring, sun wasn't quite out yet, it was like 2:00 in the afternoon and getting really humid, etc. etc.
However, I could've easily walked up to about 30 feet away from the barrier during their set without even touching another person. A lot of the people that were there were camping out for Arcade Fire later in the night too. Obviously take it with a pretty large grain of salt due to the conditions, and I guess I don't quite know the popularity of The Walkmen, but I'd guess they are a bigger draw.

Wait are you getting older? Wow, you should stop doing that and just stay the same age. I've been doing it for years.
If anyone makes a Dazed & Confused joke here I will end you.

What was happening around them? Was that one main character in her lesbian phase when she made out with Olivia Wilde on national television? Were Seth and Ryan up to crazy hijinx? Need more details.

Sorry, can't help you there. I'm sure there was some sort of love triangle, someone was grounded, someone snuck out, and someone got drunk. There may, or may not, have been a scene on the beach.
You know character names?!?!?! Wait til this gets out..

Blitzen Trapper's most recent full-length record was incredibly boring but Furr is phenomenal and Wild Mountain Nation is really good as well. Excellent Dylan & the Band-inspired stuff. I love Furr and I HIGHLY recommend listening to it (or listening to it a few more times if you've already heard it).
Before Lisbon, I wasn't a huge Walkmen fan, but I've been re-listening to some of their other stuff recently and some of it's pretty good (albeit inconsistent).
Hearing you mention that show in the context of preteen years, makes me feel old.
If you're less than 25 you're not old. If you're over 25 you might as well sit in a corner and watch Golden Girls. It's the humane thing to do.
So I guess I have a few more months of youth, and then I'll be in that "on the fence" year where I flip back and forth between Golden Girls and The O.C. debating on the right time to push the button on the Kevorkian machine.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
I havn't see The Walkmen in a long long time. Consider me offically excited for this. Matt Barrick was one of the sickest drummers I have ever seen, even in those early Jonathan Fire*Eater days.

how bout The Walkmen get some help from Man Man for "Louisiana"... i'd like to see that happen again.
i'm going to assume that The Walkmen will have some horns for bonnaroo. they had horns with them when i saw them in a shitty bar in cincinnati. i remember hearing hamilton say, "let's hear it for these guys back here. these ain't no craigslist motherfuckerrs."

So far I've listened to A Hundred Miles Off and You & Me in addition to Lisbon, which was the only one I heard before the lineup was dropped. I liked 'em both, but You & Me more so. First time I heard "In the New Year" I fell in love with it. I'm glad to see it looks like they pretty much play it at every show. Really getting more and more excited to see these guys each day.
