Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Very exited for Primus! Hopefully they don't conflict with Ratatat. Pollstar has then both listed Friday and I assume they'll both be LN...hopefully that's not the case

You should check them out, then. They are a must-see live act.
I keep hearing this. it is the reason that im going to see them at hangout and at bonnaroo( if i like them at hangout). so why dont the newbies just look up live shows to start off. imo I have a questoin about the show. Does most of the crowd mosh ... because i could dance to it or mosh and would it be neccessary to ingest before the show( if ya know what i mean jean)
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

To your first question: Yes there will be a lot of moshing, but also a lot of people straight groovin'.

There will almost certainly be a pit, but most of the crowd doesn't mosh (at least when Ive seen them).
You defiantly dont need to ingest, but you could if you wanted to.
I'd like to see Primus play 12:01 - 2:00 AM Friday morning. Be the first band to play on the first official day of Roo X. I think that Primus and Les are such a big part of Bonnaroo that no one would complain.

Lots of people would complain.......specifically the ones who couldn't get into Roo early enough to see Primus who are a top act. There's a reason they don't put big acts on that early.
Do that many people not get there until 2 AM Friday?
Edit: This is a genuine question because last year there was no longer a steady line into Bonnaroo by 11 PM Thursday. There were a couple cars coming in, but most of them were restocking cigarettes and what not.

There are a good amount of people who can't take off work Thursday so their only option is to show up on Friday. For some people it's after 5 p.m. on Friday.
Primus is a top act on the lineup and a fairly big draw so if they were playing while people were still coming in, setting up tents, etc. then people would get upset.
A good amount of people do get in Thursday night....but there are a lot of people that would be pissed if Primus played before they could even get to the farm.
Its a FOUR day music festival. So what if some people can't make it till friday? The majority of festival attendees arrive and set up camp thursday, why not spread out the schedule and limit conflicts throughout the weekend?

Primus playing after midnight on Thursday night / Friday Morning will not happen. Simple as that.

I don't disagree. It'd be nice if Roo followed Allgoods example and mixed in some bigger name acts to make thursdays a little bigger.
Thursday night: STS9, John Butler Trio, Beats Antique, Hot Buttered Rum
Not big by Roo standards, but for Allgood thats a really good thursday night lineup. Last year and this year they've really expanded to make thursday nights a bigger part of the festival. It would be cool if Roo took this approach too, then one or two artists like Primus, could play a thursday night slot which would make thursday a bigger part of the festival and reduce conflicts over the course of the weekend...
Edit: not to mention it'd be cool to see some of the bigger "gets" on thursday when you're still fresh and sleep deprivation, irregular diet, and partying haven't worn you down yet.

I like the way it is. The acts on Thursday are big enough for me. I always find a few Thursday bands end up being my favorite shows and artists after Roo.
Roo doesn't need "big" acts on Thursday. So why upset the fans that couldn't make it in early enough?

I also enjoy discovering new bands, I usually have a great time on thursday night, but that doesn't mean its perfect or couldn't be made better.
You asked why change it and I gave you reasons: less conflicts and more bigger name "gets". Who cares about the people arriving thursday that would complain, they are very small minority. I think more big bands and less conflicts would sell more tickets for the festival not hurt it because maybe 1/80th of the people attending can't get there till friday.

So actually no big names on Thursday at all. Seems Roo already has a much better thing going on for Thursday than All Good. Not sure what you were referring too?

I never said they had a better thursday night then Roo. If you had read the rest of my post...

My point is that it would be cool if Roo expanded their thursday nights a little bit and didn't just book smaller mostly up and coming bands.
I used Allgood merely as an example/parallel, they didn't used to have big acts on thursday or even open up their main concert area, recently they have expanded their festival and booked better bands for thursday night.

Is that a fact? How small of a minority are they? Around how many people are usually in Centeroo by Thursday night around 11:00 p.m. and how does that compare to the total number of attendees?
I think more big bands and less conflicts would sell more tickets for the festival not hurt it because maybe 1/80th of the people attending can't get there till friday.
Conflicts are different for every person. Primus and Deer Tick playing on Thursday night would be a big conflict for me. So moving Primus to Thursday does not make less conflicts. Just different ones.
Also, conflicts for Friday and Saturday are necessary to thin the crowd out.
My point is that it would be cool if Roo expanded their thursday nights a little bit and didn't just book smaller mostly up and coming bands.
But at what point do we draw a line? If they expand Thursday this year to have a big act then why not expand it the next year to have a few big acts? If they expand that much why not have a headliner on the What or Which stage on Thursday? If they expand that much....why not have a full day of music on thursday? Then there would be a half-day on Wednesday for pre-festival activities.
Then the cycle begins again.
There are reasons that Roo does not have big acts on Thursday. It's not just that they only want up and coming or new bands on Thursday. There are logistical issues involved besides just disappointing fans who couldn't be there. It's still a weekday so maybe noise is an issue. Plus, with only using the tents and not having everything up and running yet they save money.

No more of a statistic/fact then you have presented in your counterpoints. I pulled what seemed like a reasonable number out of my ass (1/80th of 80000 = ~1000 people arriving late on friday) You don't know how many people get there late on friday either, yet you keep speaking on their behalf.
I don't give a sh*t I wasn't trying to start an argument or hi jack a thread. I think it would be cool to see them mix up the way they do things on thursday but I must be the only one. Forgive me for constructively criticizing Bonnaroo in any way shape or form for the sake of discussion.

I understand. I read that COS interview with Ashley Capps too. like I said I see both sides of the argument. but if it makes you feel any better you win!
back on topic. Really stoked to see Primus how about everyone else?

You're right I don't know the specific numbers. Which is why I didn't try and pretend to know them. In my posts I've said:

Claiming there would be "lots of people" upset is different then claiming that the people who show up on Thursday are a "very small minority". So that's why I was wondering if it was a fact or not....like why you would think that.
I'm not speaking on their behalf either.........i'm just giving you reasons as to why Bonnaroo hasn't (and likely won't) changed it up and have a "big name" on Thursday night.

See.....you're getting bent out of shape while I'm here thinking we were calmly discussing Bonnaroo and the idea of having Primus play on Thursday. It's relevant discussion and I didn't really feel we were arguing. I thought we were conversing.
I'm not bent out of shape, I just wanted everyone to know that I'm not trying to start a campaign/crusade on the issue. Everything I said was met with opposition so I figured this discussion wasn't going anywhere and it was best to bow out before it devolved into us debating mute points (like weather people arriving late are a small minority and if so how small a minority). ITM You provide coherent and logical arguements most of the time and I appreciate hearing what you have to add to the discussion.
