"I mean, Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees." "this whole situation has just turned his whole life upside down face."
2012: RHCP, Phish, Beach Boys, Aziz, The Roots, Alice Cooper, Superjam, Blackstar, The Word, Luda, Flogging Molly, Spectrum Road, Umphrey's, Black Lips, Gary Clark Jr., Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Trampled By Turtles
One thing I'd like to point out is the overwhelming amount of positive outlooks on the lineup. Some are upset but most people seem to think it's a solid lineup
This. Out of all three announcements Ive been a part of, this year pleases me the most by far. Really glad I didn't come here to find the bitching that happened last year.

I def concur that the lineup is very good. The best part is that a lot of these bands have been on my "to check out" list and this will spur me on to do just that.

i think the way they dropped the lineup this year helped a lot.
more along the lines of weezer, tenacious d, tool, foo fighters, RAGE, deftones... I'm not saying there isn't anyone Alt-Rock, just not as big of a presence. any ideas, is alt-rock just not cool enough?

oh yes, i saw them last year was surprised and super excited to bring the rest of my group this year(if no conflicts) since I was the only one out of 10 in my group to pick them over bassnectar last year... but we also had weezer, dead weather, tenacious d... a bit more alt-rock on the list last year.
like i said not worrying about alt-rock, but is it not cool enough to be more on the line-up than this?

There's a 16 page thread about them that you can check out. It's got tons of videos and recommendations.

Arcade Fire ARE A VERY BIG DEAL! lol
No, they've been paying their dues for a while in the indie scene. I'm not a huge fan but they do have some good music. If you're curious about a band,....any band, this is the world wide web, haha just google them.

Arcade Fire's song selection for their Grammies performances was interesting to say the least. Not the best song to introduce someone to their music. However, they will blow minds at Roo. I've never seen them, but I watched a webcast of them at MSG and it was incredible.
I'll admit, I'm alittle disappointed at the exclusion of bands like QOTSA,APS, DFA 1979, and Modest Mouse. But, I'm sure I'll end up enjoying the festival regardless. There are quite a few bands I don't know... but I figure half the fun will be discovering new bands and checking out these superjams that I will more than likely never see again.
I'm loving the optimism over here... Some of the comments on CoS are just plain retarded.
This is more than I could have expected line-up wise. Although I'm not a big fan of any of the headliners ( I really don't think WSP should be at the top of the bill, considering Eminem and Arcade Fire are the other two there), the "undercard" is beautiful. Robert Plant, Neil Young, MMJ, Bassnectar, Iron and Wine, Primus, Opeth, Beirut, Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, Big Boi, Explosions, STS9, Kylesa, Portugal, Junip.
I'm sure that a lot of the others I didn't mention are great, and I look forward to discovering more. Still praying for a Massive Attack addon.
At first glance I'm immediately excited about Lil Wayne, Arcade Fire, Atmosphere, Man Man, Bela Fleck, Bootsy Collins, Iron & Wine, Girl Talk, Bassnectar, Explosions in the Sky, Big Boi, Matt & Kim, Beirut, and School of Seven Bells. I want to be more excited.
