What about Janelle Monae? Can't figure out the 'BoRe' part, of course - however her concept album(s) are about a war of sorts with a 'messianic android' coming to the rescue.
Okay, if BoRe means to switch the b and r around, it is robe... Janelle takes a robe off at the VERY beginning of her video for Cold War.
BoRe = Bowling Referee? Engelberto "Biboy" Rivera Jr. is a champion bowler from the Philippines. During the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, he attended mass and visited two Catholic priests during the games. See: www.mb.com.ph/articles/287964/bowling-champ-sees-divine-hand-win

Sorry I disappeared again over the weekend, guys.
As for this clue...someone touched on it earlier, but I think when struggling with BoRe we need to keep in mind that it IS "bore" too. We're getting carried away with trying to find a "Bo____ Re____" abbreviation, but while I agree that it probably is a play on words for some sort of phrase like that, being a play on words most likely means BOTH meanings need to apply somehow.
If I had to wager a guess, I'd say that the artist we're looking for is the "divine intervention" in the clue - not either of the BoRes. But who knows...
Even disregarding the "R," the capital "B" is intentional too, according to Gary.
Uhhh...what?? I'm just saying I'm pretty sure BoRe has to have two meanings - one is probably some sort of abbreviation, but the other is simply the word bore.
I'm just not buying into any guesses that come up with some Bo____ Re____ phrase but have absolutely no connection to the face-value meaning of the word bore.

Not to be disrespectful of different pronunciations, but "bowling" might be pronounced as "boring" by Asians trying to manage the English.

I don't think that it's intended to be read as two different words. I don't think Bo___ Re___ is the right direction. I think "B" and "R" are significant, initials perhaps.

I'm thinking Bad Books with Kevin Devine and Andy Hull, Kevin Devine's band is called the goddang Band and Andy Hull is from Manchester Orchestra. Manchester of course being home to many famous brit rock bands (champions) of which "who's better" arguments are pretty much constant. Recently they've been playing the songs just the two them acoustically...one bore to another.
War amongst champions would imply a war among three or more champions, not two, if the word was used properly. A war between champions would imply two. Not that this helps much, but thought I'd throw that out there...
Prodigy is a synonym for divine intervention/ miracle
I ended up at Prodigy by linking "bore" with cylinder, and "war amongst champions" with vigorous and fast spark plug firing (Champion being a brand name of spark plugs), as happens at "Full Throttle," a song by the Prodigy. Decided the connection was weak and tossed it.
The combined logic on The Prodigy is as "solid" as any other we have had so far...I will add it and see if Gary will confirm or deny the bands listed in the first post.

I actually think that helps a lot. Now we know what not to look for. Ruling out things is always helpful.
k sorry I know you guys said you were gonna get away from the BoRe part and focus on the rest of the clue, but I found this mildly interesting and it might be of assistance....
when I read BoRe with the capitalization the way it is, I read is as Bo-Ray....just me? maybe...
Its a French card game in which "In the French game a player who plays and takes no tricks is said to be "bourré"....
could this be a wierd reference to someone who plays a lot of charity events? or multiple artists who do?
I'm thinkin Arcade Fire right off the bat, somebody help me fill in the rest
I liked this idea and either it got lost or nobody else liked it, anybody think this could be something? Anybody whos good at twating wanna at least ask gc for me?

I actually like it too. Might be worth exploring.
Bourre was the card game that Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenden were playing that led to Arenas getting suspended from the NBA following his bringing guns to the locker room. It's also the game that OJ Mayo and Tony Allen were playing on the team plane when they got into a brawl lately.
Fights over cards = war Athletes = champions
It's a stretch, but could there be some connection? Who would the divine intervention be? David Stern?

What about Empire of the Sun? Empires wage wars of champions, and sun can be a form of divine intervention in everyday life. As for the BoRe, not 100% sure, but if we're switching the R and B, the band members do wear Robes...
6/07: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (3 Rivers Arts Fest)
6/08: The Postal Service
6/12: Glen Hansard and Lisa Hannigan (3 Rivers Arts Fest)
6/19: Rancid and The Transplants
7/26-7/28: NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL!

K keeping going with that, Lionel Hollins is the coach of Grizzlies who banned gambling on team trips, possibly the "divine intervention". A local radio host Chris Vernon made a song about Lionel Hollins, Vernon hosts a segment called "Sounds of Memphis".....all I got right now but I feel like this could be goin somewhere....
just a thought, Bouree (BoRe) is called a cross between poker and spades....a fight breaking out over a wierd type of poker could be referred to as "a crazy game of poker" mehh

still goin with this cuz i'm bored between classes, somebody help me funnel my thoughts into something productive......but if bouree is significant then....
"Bourrée in E minor is a popular lute piece, the fifth movement from Suite in E minor for Lute, BWV 996 (BC L166) written by Johann Sebastian Bach. Though it was written for the lute, it may be played with other string instruments, such as the guitar, mandola or mandocello, and keyboard instruments, and it is especially well-known among guitarists."
"The piece has been used by a number of musicians: Paul McCartney has said in interviews and on tours that the songs "Blackbird" and "Jenny Wren" were both inspired by variations and alterations to the bourrée.[2] The London Blues-rock group Bakerloo released their arrangement of the tune, titled "Drivin' Bachwards", as a single on Harvest Records (HAR 5004) in July 1969. The same recording appeared on their self-titled debut album (Harvest SHVL 762) the following December. Jethro Tull used the piece in the third track in their August 1969 album Stand Up, "Bourée".[3] A version of the same track appeared on The Jethro Tull Christmas Album. Led Zeppelin has used this piece in live performances while playing "Heartbreaker".[4] Tenacious D used it for their songs, "Rock Your Socks" and "Classico", which was played in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny.[5] Yngwie Malmsteen has also been known to integrate this, among other works by Bach, into his live sets.[6] Leo Kottke performs "Bouree" on the album "Mudlark"."
Jethro Tull seems to have the most notable version of Bouree (for someone who's alive) he is on tour this summer, and has only one date booked during roo (June 10th in Phoenix)
K now i'm done for a while sorry if this leads nowhere!
