i know i'm a little late to the game, but, i noticed some people talking about the clues link to the apollo 13 mission. i looked at the insignia for the apollo 13 mission, it had running horses on it. any connection maybe to band of horses? just a random thought.

So do you remember when if was said "maybe you'll get another clue when you guess these..." or something along those lines. We just got a third clue out of nowhere. We know we got clue 2, Do you think we got this one now hence a third clue? If so what was the last guess before Katie said she was getting us another clue?

Jess guessed STS9 about 10 minutes before her tweet about looking for another clue.
but according to gary chardonnay none of the previous guesses were correct, and STS9 had been guessed earlier.
i dont do twitter except for bonnaroo related questions / reading. So forgive me for asking this, but WTF does #gingersareevil suppose to mean? is it some kind of ambigram?
Ron Howard directed the movie Apollo 13. He is a very speckled lad. I don't know how he could tie into music, but another thought with him is he is the narrator for Arrested Development...
Also, 1983, the year of the Challenger, could be the song 1983 by Neon Trees...
I am no good at this but Ron Howard seems to be something to think about it, doesn't it? That was a big movie for him.
I agree: I don't think it is Howard's demise. I still think it has to do with the guy who got the measles and couldn't go BUT I think that maybe the clue is trying to say Apollo 13 is the mission they are speaking of
And since Ron Howard directed the movie (another speckled lad), maybe some sort of connection to him like Arrested Development, who just so happen to have a new album out (weird) and maybe will go on tour this year... Also, they sued the show Arrested Development for use of their name.
That is it- that's my thinking, which is probably a wild goose chase
I mean I know these aren't supposed to be easy by any means...but I feel like they should have made the first clue a bit more solvable as opposed to later ones. At least more solvable than 50 pages worth.
Then again, it may be...and we're just completely over thinking it and have gotten to the point where we can't even see the clue for what it really means.
I haven't analyzed this clue very thoroughly yet, but perhaps "speckled lad's demise" and the nods at a space voyage could point to something regarding the Russian space mission where they sent a dog, Laika, to space. Laika never made it back alive, however, she died from overheating. Aside from Laika's death, it was a pretty watershed event during the space race. Laika was the first animal ever sent to space, and was the first organism to die in orbit.
There are several artists that mention Laika, The Arcade Fire, The Cardigans, Gorillaz, just to name a few, though I don't really know if it'd be in that direction.
Then again, it may be...and we're just completely over thinking it and have gotten to the point where we can't even see the clue for what it really means.

I'm pretty positive this is what's happening
As am I.
It's hard to try to get a fresh look on things when we've been going for 50 pages now.
Okay so what about "The Apollo" Theatre. Could that have launched the career of someone who will be performing? Something to think about.
From wiki: Billing itself as a place "where stars are born and legends are made," the Apollo became famous for launching the careers of artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Jackson 5, Patti LaBelle, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ben E. King, Mariah Carey, The Isley Brothers, Lauryn Hill, and Sarah Vaughan.
