Arc/Weld is kinda hard to find together. Weld is the way to go. Arc was a single disc single song that is really nice to hear.
Mirror Ball is an amazing record that is cohesive as a unit ... But the songs arn't strong enough to stand on their own. It helps that PJ was the backing band for that record ... And my first intro to Neil.
I don't think Arc/Weld has ever been sold together in CD format but most vinyl versions have them together. Arc is truly only for the most dedicated Rusties. Many of us listen to the album every April Fool's Day.
Mirrorball is a great album, one of Neil's must underrated. Other great underrated albums: Landing on Water Trans Hawks and Doves Greendale Are You Passionate?

Weld is a live album and concert video by Neil Young & Crazy Horse released in 1991, comprising performances recorded on the tour to promote the Ragged Glory album. Initially released as a limited edition three-disc set entitled Arc-Weld

I vote yes for Neil in any form (Alone, with CH, or with CSN). Although I wouldn't want to sit through another Greendale, that was easily the worst of the 6 times I have seen him

I don't think I've done Harvest. This is for all of you filler fans out there.
1. The Needle and the Damage Done 2. Old Man 3. Heart of Gold 4. Out On The Weekend 5. Alabama 6. Harvest 7. Words 8. Are You Ready For The Country? 9. There's a World 10. A Man Needs A Maid
Probably my least favorite out of all the "big" Neil Young albums. A Man Needs A Maid is probably my least favorite 70's Neil Young song. It sounds like an Neon Bible b-side. A stripped down version would have been much, much better.

Oh sorry I didn't do my 10/10 for the top 8 songs thing. Also for the man that wrote Ambulance Blues, A Man Needs A Maid is an embarrassment. Or am I missing something really big here?
I was thinking that maybe I'd get a maid Find a place nearby for her to stay. Just someone to keep my house clean, Fix my meals and go away.
A maid. A man needs a maid. A maid.
And all those overdramatic strings. God, kill me now.

Do you have a maid or something? That would explain it.

I wrote out a very long post defending this song then realized it was something my freshmen composition teacher would have loved. This disgusted me so much I deleted it. In place of the thorough analysis I would like to say that it is a beautiful and haunting song about loneliness and denial. As explained on Massey Hall he wrote it as part of the "musical of his life", hence the strings, which in my opinion add to the emotion of the song.

Fair enough bacon. Apparently I've never played the Massey Hall version once, but I guess that shows what I think of the song. I guess I can always try and look at it from another point of view.
I agree with you Bishop. I would take every other "essential" Neil Young album over Harvest.
Before I went to the Neil show in Nashville, I posted on FB how Neil was/is better than Dylan. I received quite a few intelligent and not so intelligent responses. So, I thought I would ask the question here for inforoo to discuss:

Better? Maybe Dylan. But Neil is my favorite. I have more emotional attachment and have a bigger emotional response to Neil's songs. Dylan is pretty amazing though.
