KOL were decent, should not be headliner but not bad. Steve Martin's band was prob worst I heard at least I can say I saw Steve Martin in person.
You've got to be joking. SCR is one of the best bluegrass bands in existence.
I wouldn't say that they're up there with Union Station, Del McCoury Band or Steel Driver, but they're certainly a hell of a lot better than Kings of Tampon.

The XX was really disappointing to me. I went into Bonnaroo expecting them to be the wild card, but their timing was off and they didn't bring much energy. The studio album is amazing front to back, I'll have to stick to that.

I wasn't disappointed in any of the 20+ full sets I saw, but they were all groups I really enjoy. Most everybody has a valid reason for not liking these groups, but I need further clarification on the Isis show. It was bad-ass in person. After listening to the recording? It was almost flawless.
Did you not know Isis's music going in, or what? Just curious. That's been the one glaring entry in this thread for me.
Did anyone go see any acts on the Solar Stage or Troo Music stage?
We went and saw Elmwood at the request of our camp neighbor that does the artwork for them. I was plesanlty surprised. I got a cd that's been in our car ever since.

Manchester Orchestra was the show for me. Love their music and listen to it all the time but I was not feeling the energy for some reason. I admit that it might have been my own mood at that moment in time, I might have been to relaxed myself for the set.
Those saying Isis sucked must not be familiar with their music or performance. They are not a "Hey, how ya doin'" type band. They get on stage, play their songs with perfection, and don't say anything...all of it usually done in the dark. Poor decision on Bonnaroo's part to book them in the middle of the day...darkness goes with the music and enhances the atmosphere of their show. Sorry for those that were disappointed, but I give it a 9/10.
i wasn't very familiar with them but i really liked it. my friend who hadn't heard them at all said the 'screaming caught her off guard, but the music was really cool' - agree. but i don't mind growly voices at all.

I would. Nicky Sanders is arguably the best violinist/fiddle player in all of bluegrass right now. Hell, he's up there with a lot of the great classical players as well, and the rest of the band all come close to his ability.
Everyone I saw either totally brought it or fit the mood I was in at the time with the exception of Blues Traveler and DMB who were both boring IMO. so I would say either of those
I pretty much had a great weekend of music. If I wasn't feeling something I just moved on. That said, there were a few disappointments.
The FLips. I've seen them a couple of times in recent years so their schtick doesn't hold my attention like it did. I was really turned off by Wayne cajolling the crowd to cheer louder after every song that I left after about 20 minutes. That actually turned out awesome, though, since it got me to Chromeo and Daryl Hall much earlier than I intended. THAT set was a favorite for me. So much fun and happiness.
I stayed through the whole Wale disaster. I was psyched for him because I'd heard good things but I was already pissed off by the time he eventually hit the stage so it's hard to objectively discuss the music. I also bought into one of the GaGa rumours and stuck around to see if she performed with him. (Thought it would be a cool experience.) I think that if he had started on time I might have enjoyed myself but everything in me begrudged him his arrogance and I couldn't enjoy it.
BoB wasn't terrible (his other MC was, though) but he's not quite ready for primetime. I stuck around until about 4 AM but he just didn't seem to have his live act quite together yet.
And I've seen DMB a ton and their set wasn't as great as I had hoped it would be. It wasn't bad, it just didn't connect with me and I think it's entirely because of the setlist.

I will once again reiterate that Gaslight Anthem was EASILY one of the worst performances this year. I was bored beyond belief. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was coming on after Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave (Who KILLED it. Period), Maybe it was because they should not have been on the Which Stage and should have been in a tent...not sure but after listening to their set in A/C a few minutes ago, I stand my decision...Terrible.
I had compared these guys to a modern Stray Cats...they just sounded strayed.

OKGO was atrocious. I had zero expectations and yet they were worse than I expected. The only reason I saw them was they were between Dr Dog and Claypool (who were two of the highlights for me). Someone needs to tell OKGO that louder is not better. The mix was probably 2x as loud as for Dr Dog or Claypool and it sounded awful. I was in literal pain for part of their set.
I was also disappointed by Manchester Orchestra. Other than that everything I saw was good or better.
Are you serious? I had zero expectations for OK GO and they brought it both barrels. I was utterly surprised how good they were and how hype their stage show was...just an opinion I guess. I was also near the front so that may have been a difference.

Yes 100% serious and I was on the rail so proximity had nothing to do with it. In fact I think I would have enjoyed it more had I been farther away. I was directly in front of the stack on the right and like I said the loudness literally hurt my ears.
Even if it were quieter, though, I don't think it would have mattered for me. Just not my type of music.

I'm so glad we have the opportunity to see such a wide variety of musical genres at Bonnaroo in such a kick *ss setting. It's funny how one person's chocolate cake is another person's Leno, speaks to our wonderful diversity. In that vein, Wale was not my chocolate cake, and it was the one time of the night I was glad the Lunar stage was so loud!
What a cool idea that Lunar stage was! Tone it down so we can hear the other acts, but otherwise hellacool!
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Ok Go Circa Survive Flaming Lips' DSOTM (heard from camp) Whatever was playing on Lunar Stage from like 2 - 7 am late Thursday night/Friday morn (again from camp)
But I already said earlier in the thread the worst was Blues Traveler, which I saw an hour of... not really my choice, but I didn't expect it to be that bad. The more I think about it, it was most likely the worst Roo show I've seen, and one of the very worst shows I'ver ever seen, period. Up there with Eve 6, Zugg Island, and Powerman 5K at a free show in Columbia in 03.

i watched some of the circa show on youtube. it wasn't a good show to see if you were not already a fan. he was more into pumping the crowd up than he was into singing the songs the way they are supposed to be. they are one of those bands, that can be really good or really bad. sometimes within the same show.

Hey! Get your optimism off of this thread! We're trying to be whiny little girls here, don't ruin it.
The worst set I heard, was this guy camped down from us yelling on the bull horn,"Hey, Who wants to see my cock? Look over here to see my cock! I am on top of this truck and you can see my cock. Naked I am and you can see my cock. Like I said, who wants to see me cock? Look over here to see my cock. Do you want to see my cock?" A man asking who wants to see my coc*k is not that bad, what was the worst part was the sound system. The acoustics sucked. If he had a better sound man/crew the show would have been so much better. Don't even get me on the light show or should I say lack of. Other than that, every show I saw, from the CCD to John Butler Trio to the Dead Weather, fucking ROCKED!
