ooooooooooooooo look at me, Im gona do a free concert in Iraq for our troops and hang out with them like their my boys....... ooooooo since we are going lets tape all the horseplay and then use it at our shows to show everyone that we support our troops..... oooooooooooo we are proud americans.
I stood three feet from ZM during Dave Matthews. I wanted to yell at him for this but his security was at least a foot taller than me. I was scared.

well thank god that we have the internet and anonymity so that we can say all the things we really want to (but were too scared to) and not deal with any of the consequences.

Interestingly enough, while ZBB was doing their thing, Phoenix and MMW were playing solid sets. The joy of Bonnaroo, if you don't like what your hearing, just take a stroll to the next tent or stage!
I was disappointed in Norah Jones, probably a combination of the heat, and playing Which rather than a tent.

its even better than that, there are no consequences
Yeah, would you rather ruin another concert goers experience by doing that or calmly express your belief on a MESSAGE BOARD and not fuck up someone's good time?
Says something about Roo's Sunday lineup this year that ZBB pre-headlined.
This was probably my favorite Sunday in 5 years of Roo attendance. Just look at the Which lineup of Tinariwen > Calexico > Spektor > Ween > Phoenix. Then you've got legends like Fogerty and Kristofferson, Roo crowd pleasers like JBT and DMB, and an amazing cafe lineup highlighted by Devil Makes Three, Everest, Orgone, and Danny Barnes. Not to mention the greatest instrumental trio in the world.

I seem to remember 08, just hours after the Gay Fish Disaster, Robert Randolph, OAR, Death Cab, and WSP.... that was a pretty quacking epic day... RR KILLED.... Seemed like half of Roo found their way to That Tent for a killer perfomance!

Yeah for real what a smurf.
The Zac Brown Band recently debuted part three of the documentary, 'Those Who Serve,' which followed them on their recent USO tour in the Persian Gulf. The film features the band performing for the troops, and meeting individually with men and women in uniform stationed far from home and sharing their personal thoughts on the experience. You can now see all three videos at the Ram Trucks Letters for Lyrics website.
And speaking of letters, more than 144,000 have been collected so far in the Letters for Lyrics campaign, which officially got underway on May 10, with the goal of rallying people to write one million letters for servicemen and women stationed abroad. In return for their letter, each letter writer takes home an exclusive CD. 'Breaking Southern Ground' features three new songs from the Zac Brown Band, as well as music from Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Levi Lowrey, who are also signed to Zac's label, Southern Ground.
All U.S. Ram Truck dealerships will are now serving as collection points and also providing letter-writing stations. The letters will also be collected at the band's shows, after which Soldier's Angels will deliver letters to U.S. troops on behalf of Ram Trucks and the Zac Brown Band. Soldier's Angels is a volunteer-led organization with over 225,000 members providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, along with veterans and their families. - www.theboot.com/2010/06/25/zac-brown-band-letters-for-lyrics/
for the record i'm not a fan of Zac Brown Band and don't like their songs and some of their lyrics. but they did go perform for soldiers and meet with them and that's something that not every artist/band/comedian/celebrity will do. maybe they use it to win over some fans but that isn't the sole purpose.

We will never know what the true motives were. I think what they did is great. Having a video tribute about what they did? stretching it...
Saw them last week and they honestly seem like their hearts and heads are in the right place. They did the whole Letters For Lyrics thing, sat in with the other artists on the bill, had them sit in with them, played a solid 2 hr set that started and ended on time. They came across as genuine and humble.
Is it all an act/PR ploy? I don't know. I enjoyed the show and I at least appreciate the effort to do and say the right things instead of oversleeping for a half hour and coming out without apology. (For example.)
Oh, yeah, one other cool thing they do is sell off about a dozen meet and greet tix on their website (for about $20) before each show where former professional chef Zac cooks for the fans and you get to hang out with them.
I will once again reiterate that Gaslight Anthem was EASILY one of the worst performances this year. I was bored beyond belief. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was coming on after Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave (Who KILLED it. Period), Maybe it was because they should not have been on the Which Stage and should have been in a tent...not sure but after listening to their set in A/C a few minutes ago, I stand my decision...Terrible.
I do like the Gaslight Anthem, but that set wasn't all that great to me. Their new stuff has a lot less edge to it than older stuff does.
Tent show probably would have been more appropriate I think too.
