and the reason they went on late was not their fault. They only had a 30 minute winow for setup after bassnectar, and it seemed like nobody knew what the hell to do with bassnectar's equipment after their set. It took them at least 15-20 minutes just to get that boom taken down. I could tell by the frantic roadies that they needed more time.
LCD definitely played an 80 minute set. I wished it would have been longer, but such is life.

I'm not really mad, just slightly irked. That doesn't mean you have to be. I was just chiming in. Wouldn't this place be boring if we all agreed?
And I have the call records to verify the time, by the way, not like it matters. My phone is synced up correctly now, though I'm not sure what the possibility is that it fucked up at the fest.
In other news I forgot the girl kept having to go off stage? What was that about?

James Murphy was not being pissy and trying to walk off stage or anything. I was on the rail directly in front of him and I could see that he was having a great time and so was everyone else in his band. The glowsticks never phased him and he handled them much better than Bassnectar (who had the safety crew come out repeatedly and threaten to kick out anyone up front who threw glowsticks).
He didn't storm off stage and get convinced by his band to come back. Losing My Edge was the last song and New York I Love You was the encore.
My favorite thing other than being absolutely demolished by All My Friends was how into it they all were, especially that asian woman. Every opportunity she was dancing her ass off and singing like an adoring fan. It was pure awesome
i personally thought the glowstick comment by murphy was funny. He didn't seem pissed and he kind of chuckled when he said at least that's what i think i remember haha
In general though, I was not really down with the late night vibe this year. Lots of people taking too many bad substances, and lots of aggressiveness in the crowds. That's not the Bonnaroo I fell in love with in 2006.
Hopefully LCD will return to the farm again.
^This.
Very aggressive crowd, moshing to LCD Soundsystem was ridiculous.

Started from the back and eneded up on the rail almost, other than the naked guy biting someones leg there was not much of a problem.

Most energy I saw from them out of the three times I've seen them. Amazing show. If you heard it on the webcast and are complaining about it, please kindly stop talking.
Also rhino hit the nail on the head, James was just being James, it didn't seem like he was actually pissed off.

THis was my fifth Roo. Friday night's shows by Daryl Hall and Chromeo as well as by LCD Soundsystem were the best late night I have ever experienced at Roo. Both shows, along with Hova's and Stevie's, were absolutely legendary.
Wolfman Jess is correct, i checked my watch after the show and it was 415ish.
It really was ridiculous, all the glowsticks being thrown at them. At one point it wasn't even just one glowstick here and there: i saw a handful thrown from about 5 people deep, right up close. They sprayed the drummer and Murphey both. I wonder if it had anything to do with Bassnectar thanking the crowd for not throwing glowsticks at him directly before LCD. Maybe some people got some big ideas...
I don't get it. I thought we all appreciated music, and musicians, at Bonnaroo. I felt like i wanted to apologize to them afterward.
On another note, the next night, when Deadmau5 came out, i smiled. With that stage setup and the added protection of the mau5 mask, i thought to myself "They can throw anything they want this time around. This guy is prepared."
Oh hey, did you camp up there or were you able to squeeze in later? I don't mind if you squeezed in ftr, I'm sure curious if I met you. I met a lot of really cool people while camping for LCD.

I wasn't at Roo this year, but I'm listening to the NPR webcast right now, and not only is LCD raging, but James Murphy seems friendly and overjoyed to be there, improvising lyrics, bantering with band members, and generally being a dynamic singer.

checking in with my thoughts on the lcd show:
1. absolutely fantastic set - my favorite of the weekend, although yeah obviously i'm a bit biased. was a tad disappointed that they didn't play a full-length set, but of course you can't really be that upset that they played a festival-length set. i was really hoping to hear 'yr city's a sucker' and 'someone great', and bonnaroo might be the only lcd show i'll get to see on this tour. hopefully not. still, every song they played was ridiculously tight and full of energy (duh), and i thought james' vocals were even better than usual.
2. what the fuck, throwing-glowsticks-on-stage-people? yes glowstick wars are fun and all, but keep it amongst the crowd please. and it's not like it was just a stray one here or there making its way on stage; it was a lot, directly at the stage. bands generally don't like having shit thrown at them. show some respect. jesus.
3. james handled the glowstick thing in stride; making joking comments, but trying to get his point across. but i do think the last comment he made before 'ny i love you' - something to the extent of "seriously, what's up with all the throwing shit" - showed that he was somewhat irritated. other than that he was his usual self, quirky, and happy to be playing to an excited crowd.
4. okay, i'll be nice to the crowd for a minute. i have a new appreciation of 'pow pow', and i was impressed at how pat the crowd had the call and response down. i guess TiH has been out for a month now, but even getting the "advantages, advantages!" response right was awesome. maybe my head was cloudy ,but i swear a significant amount of the people next to me shouted "eat it michael musto!" with me.
5. guy who dressed up as the dog from the 'drunk girls' video who was by me - if you're reading this - hello! that was cool, and you're the only person for whom it was acceptable to crowdsurf.
I don't think there was "moshing" up front. Just a lot of really hard dancing from people being so into it... But I guess some could consider that moshing. =p Dance punk!

It was moshing. I was up in the front.
Pushing and shoving constantly, trying to keep from being trampled.
There's a difference between dancing and what was going on. I don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer I enjoyed the show but it got a little too ridiculous.

Crunchies for the best LCD review yet. Right on JCBG, I was also impressed with the call/response on Pow Pow.
The only thing I'd add is that I got the biggest jolt of adrenaline when the crowd nailed the harmonies on "Us vs. Them". After that long percussive build up, the crowd just nailed it.

I was maybe 8 rows back and a lot of people were going crazy and bumping shoulders some as they were dancing, but it didn't seem like people were running around and pushing and bashing people in my area. Sorry it was like that for you, but I'm happy you still enjoyed the show. At least I feel like LCD "moshing" is out of sheer ecstasy and joy and not anger. Like, "I hit you because I love you" thing. Kidding.

i got there at like 9:30 and was pretty much right in the center. i was sitting next to this dude named phillip that made his own (awesomely realistic) wristband and went to get water for everyone at some point and in front of the girls with the glow in the dark body paint. my buddy had one of those light up shirts on that goes with the sound. i know i talked to everyone that was in my general area so i'd be amazed if you were waiting there and we didn't meet.
I'm listening to the streaming audio from NPR right now. What a mess!!! The mix is so off it doesn't even come close to representing what it was like in the tent. Was anyone taping this show? Would love to get a better recording.

thanks. yeah, just in general, the crowd vocally added to the concert experience almost perfectly. i thought that made up for their obnoxiousness in other areas.
No, they don't. You seem to think that Bisco is the epitome of a good band so we know where your tastes lie, so it's not surprise you're not a fan of LCD Soundsystem. That's fine and all, different strokes, but they certainly don't suck.
Logic?
tDB is my favorite band and i love LCD.
LCD is also headlining Camp Bisco, so whats the connection youre trying to make?
One of the best shows of the weekend. Definitely in my top five. However, I must say that I didn't really enjoy the crowd, at least where I was. For example, the naked guy.
