sitting in my room watching the webcast, i was feeling its "ehhh kinda cool," but obviously there was a little more than just the stuff onstage that was getting that crowd off ;-)
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
LCD is pure Indie rising sound bad vocalist trash. Songs like "drunk girls" sum up their talent and songs. Went with three people who REALLY wanted to go. We ended up leaving after two songs, and the reason being - didn't sound appealing.
I've been bashing LCD on this board for awhile now; overrated Indie kids.

This set left a sour taste in my mouth.
It started off great. Maybe one of my favorite shows this year up to a point. People were grooving, it sounded great, and there were glow stick wars.
And the glow stick wars is where things turned...
You see, Mr. James Murphy is too good for people to be throwing things at his shows. After a glowstick innocently hit him, he made "ironic" hipster comments about loving things being thrown at him. When this continued, his comments got more direct, to where he was berating the crowd for having a good time basically.
After "Losing My Edge", he said "PEACE." and started walking off stage. The band persuaded him to finish with one more song. He was obviouslly pulling an Axl Rose.
I'm almost certain there were 3 or 4 more songs on their setlist. They cut to the end because James Murphy, or should I say... Kanye... couldn't appreciate Bonnaroo.

Two glowsticks hit him right in a row, and the second was clearly thrown at him. I would have been pissed at that too. They ended because at 4 because it was their time to end.
LCD Soundsystem was excellent...definitely 1 of the top 3 sets I saw.
The stuff with the glowsticks was ridiculous. Why the hell would people throw glowsticks at the band in the first place, let alone after being repeatedly asked to stop? I'm surprised and impressed that they continued to play the whole set after that...I know I wouldn't have.

I have a copy of the set-list in my hand right now, and I can confirm that you are uttering complete bullcrap.
Agree with the positive comments, my fave set of the weekend. Glowsticks were out of control, what the hell people? I would have walked off stage if it were me.
My only complaint was the sequencing of the set. I really like, I Can Change on the new album, but the slower pace on stage caused a lull right in the middle of the set. Everything else was tight, too bad for the glowstick issues.
In general though, I was not really down with the late night vibe this year. Lots of people taking too many bad substances, and lots of aggressiveness in the crowds. That's not the Bonnaroo I fell in love with in 2006.
LCD sounded awesome, the crowd ruined the set for me. Throwing shit at the guy who's putting on a show for you despite him saying not to multiple times? Not to mention the stupid fuckers just wanted to mosh and didn't give a fuck about the music. No wonder he didn't want to finish.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

I stand corrected on the setlist... although I'm confused why they would only put ten songs on it. All their other shows besides festivals have around fourteen, and they could have played as long as they wanted at this late night set.
And yes, throwing glowsticks on stage is stupid, and not cool. However, if Mr. Murphy hadn't have been so hip and ironic in his response it would have stopped. I was just really rubbed the wrong way by his attitude.

Admittedly, I am a fan, but they are def not "overrated indie kids". Everyone has their tastes and opinions to match, but the band was tight and their set was the most exciting of the weekend for a lot of us.
One other nitpick, Drunk Girls is not indicative of their music. They are all over the map ranging from catchy power pop to long dance tracks. If you want to learn more about this band then I suggest listening to more of their music.
I don't see how its possible to not get into LCD after that exuberant set. I took 2 friends that knew nothing about them and they absolutely loved it.

Lots of bands "could have played as long as they wanted," but didn't. Some bands, when given a 90 minute slot, will play that 90 minutes. It happens.
You forgot the part where they came on substantially late. They only played around an hour and fifteen or less.
They were really freaking awesome one of the best shows I saw this year. Also they came on 10 minutes late and played until 425 by the time on my phone.
