Disturbing. I love me some Avetts. I also love DMB. This one was definitely the hardest choice for me. I was just pointing out that there is a reason this "delusional, mentally ill individual" voted for DMB, and his name is Carter Beauford.

Haha... it's all good man. I just like giving Dave Matthews fans a hard time. I will not deny he has a great band, and the guy can drum. I just despise the man himself. Too bad it doesn't say Dave Matthews Band minus Carter Beauford. I feel that the Avetts could have used your vote.
I don't mean most of the mean things I say... except for this pjbuckeye fellow in this other thread. sounds like he is looking for an argument.

It's cool it's hard to take anything said on here too seriously.
I know this doesn't help but I had the Avett Brothers but changed my mind. My DMB love has waned quite a bit since LeRoi passed away and they were so quick to just keep the machine rolling... kind of made it feel weird. Just curious, are you going to be able to vote for Ben Harper over DMB?
Has it ever shown up? I was thinking it was time for a new one...don't want to make too many enemies as the Hawks mow down the competition in the playoffs.... ;D

I think I can vote for just about anyone over DMB. I like early Ben Harper... not really any of his recent stuff. I don't really like any DMB. Gravedigger is a good song.

DMB was admittedly the first band I really got into and got me going to live shows. Since then my interest in them has fallen off the face of a cliff. I don't dislike the band, I still watch them at bonnaroo, I just am indifferent now. At the time I also thought Carter Beauford was a god, but I have since found plenty of drummers better than him. I wouldn't even say he's the best drummer on the lineup this year. I actually would say that Max Weinberg is about tied with him for the best drummer in this bracket.
Carter is great at doing his DMB solos with all the wind chimes and huge set, but I don't think he keeps a particularly tight groove or brings the thunder. This is the same way I feel about Matt Abts, crazy big set solos, but in a band just above average. Max Weinberg knows how to play in a band and stay in the groove and is the back bone of that band. As far as technical skill I obviously am not saying Max is on the same level, but that is not the only thing that goes into being a good drummer.
Edit: Sometimes when I see Carter videos I think of the Stevie Wonder lyric "Just because a records got a groove don't make it in the groove."
