I can't speak for all Nats fans around the world. But for me and most of those I grew up with in the city, we rooted for the Orioles while (im)patiently waiting for our own team. Angelos made it easy to move on. But we were also highly distracted by the Redskins winning Super Bowls and being in contention every year. This town will always be Redskins first, no matter how bad they are.
O's tied for first with the Yanks. One of the greatest things I've seen in a long time... hopefully they will take sole possession today
Rooting like hell for the Orioles, but I can't imagine there being better than like a 5-10% they win the division. It's bizarre enough they're so many games over .500 with having a negative run differential.
Edit: Well I guess Baseball Prospectus has them at 16% for the division.
Run differential is meaningless at this point. Check out their record in August and post ASB run differential. Much different story. The team is the best now it has been all season.

Run differential is meaningless in that it doesn't get you a tie-breaker or anything but it does tell you the character of a team. The O's should be in it until the end unless some crazy injury happens. It is going to be a very interesting September with the A's and O's fighting for a playoff spot. I'm pretty old so I remember when both of those teams were two of the most formidable teams in baseball for a long time. It's kind of cool to see the O's get back into the fray even though it might cost my Yankees a playoff spot.
Growing up and watching Palmer, McNally, Cuellar and Dobson kick everyone's ass was amazing even though my team was always on the losing side. And the A's developed Hunter, Holtzman and Vida Blue.

The Orioles actually have a slightly positive run differential if you don't count any games against the Angels or Rangers. They have a -63 run differential against just those 2 teams, so they're actually pretty solid against everyone else.
Good to see the Orioles and A's in the playoff hunt. It is good for baseball to have some underdogs with low payroll in the post season.
BTW...I must had been a select few people this year that thought the Nationals were going to be a playoff team. I called it when I had a conversation with a friend of mine before the season started. He didn't buy it at all and thought I was reaching. I saw him the other day and brought it up and he said good call.

I'll toot my own horn then too. Just pretend you don't see the "not that they'll win the division" part.
Washington's going to surprise this year. Not that they'll win the division, but there shouldn't be all these posts about the NL East without even mentioning them.

Damn, now I know how Flanzo feels every season. Hot all season then just flat out suck but this time it's at the worst part of the season. At least the Mets drop off in July so most fans can start thinking about football and move on.
I just don't know where to start weather it's with these injuries or our fucking bullpen. Every time Girardi brings in Joba he blows it and same with Robinson. That was the first time all season I've seen us claw our way back from such a deficit but somehow I knew this young and hungry O's team were just gonna end it the next inning.
Not that I don't think this Yankee team isn't hungry because we have been dominant most of the season. This fall isn't necessarily bad since going into the playoffs with ease isn't the best thing for postseason play. But of course I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried if our pieces don't start coming together.
Positives are that Martin is heating up, Jeter is consistent, our backups play well every time, and Ichiro is a hitting machine.
I hate our fans. Last month or so they were booing Hamilton during his slump. So lame. That's the kind of b.s. that will cause us to lose the best hitter we've ever had.
I swear DFW fans have to be some of the worst in professional sports.

They just don't know how to follow a sport that uses a round ball.

Well they are damn near emotionless at Cowboy games too.

Machado eating it at third but then catching the runner rounding towards home may have been one of the smartest baseball plays I've seen this year. Especially in the 9th in a tie ball game.

Yeah, that was incredible. Even better for a rookie to have that kind of awareness.

won back-to-back weeks in my fantasy league and surged my way back into 2nd place. there's only 100 points separating 2nd from 5th which is a $320 difference in payout at the end of the year. gonna be a crazy last 2 weeks. i've already made $100 in weekly winnings and then the final standings payouts are as follows:
1st- $600 2nd- $450 3rd- $320 4th- $210 5th- $130
i'm pretty much a lock to finish in the money, so i'll be cashing out for between $550-$230. really hoping i can hold onto 2nd, would be my highest cash ever

Just read that since the All Star Break, the Braves have won more games at Citi Field than the Mets have. I'm indifferent towards both teams, but that made me lol.
