Not a tough decision, though. Rage is one of the greatest live acts ever; Jay-Z isn't even one of the five greatest rappers ever. And it takes a lot to make a rap show impressive. Besides "Reasonable Doubt" (which is unbelievable, but it still falls short of "Illmatic" or "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" or "Ready to Die" or even "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...") and "The Black Album", Hov hasn't done much to deserve all of the credit he (for some reason) gets. A Wu-Tang show would be better than a Jay-Z show, period. Why is everyone so quick to mention him as the only formidable and potential headlining rap act?!

I think the Stones is complete speculation at this point and was created out of just logic of who are the bigger acts still around that are worthy to be unopposed headliner, We already had Tom Petty, Police, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan even though he didn't headline.

Because he's the only rapper that could headline Bonnaroo at this point. There's no way Roo gets Eminem (why would they want to?) Lil Wayne possibly, but Jay-Z is really the only one left (Kanye was the other and he didn't even headline.) Wu Tang Clan couldn't headline, last time I checked they couldn't do an arena tour. Do you even know what you're talking about?

Is there any evidence that roo is going after the Stones?
Bonnaroo sent out an e-mail right after the festival announcing Rolling Stones merchandise, then promptly retracted the e-mail. "Dear Bonnaroo Fan,
Musictoday mistakenly sent you an email today for a Rolling Stones promotion. This inadvertent email was caused by human error and does not reflect in any way a compromise of the Bonnaroo email community.
Musictoday carefully maintains appropriate industry email protocol so that we can communicate consistently to our loyal fans.
Be assured that your information is secure and that these emails were mistakenly generated by Musictoday.
We are vigorously reviewing Musictoday's email protocols and have identified a way to avoid this in the future.
We apologize and thank you for your patience."
Couple that with a cryptic article in the Bonnaroo newspaper they print everyday which said the only way they could top Bruce would be to book the Rolling Stones, and that's where this rumor comes from.

Paul McCartney Red Hot Chili Peppers Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Jay-Z with the Roots Muse String Cheese Incident Furthur Them Crooked Vultures The Black Crowes The Flaming Lips Monsters of Folk
That is my dream, anyway. Neil Young & Crazy Horse could replace CSN&Y, and DMB could replace Jay-Z. A late night DMB set would make me way too excited (if done properly).
Here's a more updated list of my dream lineup for next year, considering what is possible and likely.
Paul McCartney Red Hot Chili Peppers Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Jay-Z with the Roots Muse String Cheese Incident Allman Brothers Band Them Crooked Vultures Arctic Monkeys Furthur The Black Crowes Monsters of Folk The Chemical Brothers Umphrey’s McGee Wolfmother Built To Spill Yonder Mountain String Band STS9 Soulive The Gaslight Anthem Mike Gordon
Friday What: Arctic Monkeys -> Red Hot Chili Peppers (Headliner) -> Jay-Z with the Roots (Late Night) Friday Which: Yonder Mountain String Band -> Monsters of Folk -> String Cheese Incident (Late Night) Friday This: Soulive -> STS9 -> The Chemical Brothers (Late Night)
Saturday What: The Gaslight Anthem -> The Black Crowes -> Paul McCartney (Headliner) Saturday Which: Wolfmother -> The Dead Weather -> Muse (Late Night) Saturday This: Galactic -> Furthur (Late Night)
Sunday What: Mike Gordon -> Allman Brothers Band -> Crosby Stills, Nash & Young (Headliner) Sunday Which: Them Crooked Vultures
I would probably die a happy, happy death after this.
