I just finished watching the FuseTV bonnaroo and IMO it SUCKED. I mean its cool that we got to see the show from different angles and in a professional view with good audio, but the songs they chose were weak. this is not to discredit the shows themselves, just they picked the weakest songs of each show. Like snoop dogg was AMAZING but they picked the weakest songs they played. Also why didnt they show the other artist that are awesome but less well known, LIKE PORTUGAL. THE MAN. they didnt come near close enough to capture the epicness of bonnaroo on film, and that is with the loss of experience between mind/body to film. Also WAAAAAYYYYY to many commercials for an hour long show, and they need at least, at least, two hours for that. And those people they interviewed, those girls AKA second year bonnanoobs, it looked like they left during or before phish on sunday, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! why didnt they interview me, seven year vet or ANYONE ELSE would have been better.
anyways all i am saying is I would have done a much better job for half the price.
I was also disappointed with the package. It's better than nothing but there was very little music (Snoop, Phish, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bruce, Beasties and Coheed and Cambria, right?) and, your right, the song selections were puzzling. Outlaw Pete? I actually kinda like the song (when I'm not giggling at the name) and thought it was a poor song choice for even the band to play, yet alone picking it for the broadcast!
Hopefully they'll do more micro-specials like they did after last year so we get to see more performances.
Well, I hoped. I mean, when you start with your favorite ingredients and you're eating in your favorite spot, you have high hopes for the meal even if you're not confident in the cook, right?

I haven't watched it yet but if Portugal the Man isn't on then i'd suspect that NO thursday night acts were on. Perhaps Fuse only wanted the bigger name acts from Friday. What do you expect? It's not the Relix Channel or anything.....it's Fuse....so they will use a bunch of bigger names.
Bonnaroo is about the Music first and for most, and this year was no exception. Erykah Badu, Portugal. The Man, DECEMBERISTS!!!, MGMT, The Mars Volta, all would have be exponentially and infinitely better than the blah blah blah of some those newbs. Or at least, if you need some people talking about bonnaroo's GREATNESS, have some chill ass bonna-wooks that have been to bonnaroo for its EPICNESS since day one.
oh well its fuse TV commerial shit, but at least its something.

Fuse show song list
Yeah Yeah Yeahs=Heads Will Roll Coheed and Cambria=Welcome Home Beastie Boys=Intergalactic Snoop Dogg=I Wanna Love You Phish=Wolfman's Brother Bruce Springsteen=Outlaw Pete
I was so excited and then it was just commerical, plug, commercial, 2 minute mediocre song, plug. I will say that Outlaw Pete was sick and they actually played the whole song which was a plus for this girl.
anyways all i am saying is I would have done a much better job for half the price.
could you have got it done in 4 days? they had hours (days) worth of footage to go over. but only a couple days to pick songs, footage, put it together, and ready to put on tv. while it wasn't great, it was for decent for what it was. a quickly put together collection of 5 performance that people will watch. it took bonnaroo until january to put their dvd together, and it wasnt much better than this.
the only good part of any of the Fuse coverage was Omar saying that he was sick of the mars voltas sound and that one of his influences was Hitler but that wasnt even in the hour thing, it was just a random bump.

6 songs?? Is this all they're doing this year? Last year was much better with the multiple specials covering more bands. I wasn't expecting much and Fuse still disappointed me.
I'm waiting for them to release more Bonnaroo footage. Like stated, yes, they only had so much time to do this, but at the same time they did not have to view all the footage seeing as they only used bigger acts and had better songs to choose from. Thankfully I have DVR and fast forwarded commercials and the kids setting up camp and crap.

i suppose FUSE did not get the memo that this was gonna be NIN's LAST SHOW EVER IN NORTH AMERICA.
By all means, show Coheed and Cambria instead...
and this is why no one cares about the FUSE channel.
I don't know if you read in the other threads about Trent almost pulling a Kanye and not performing if people filmed his show. Apparently he only wanted his crew to be able to video/photograph and as late as 8pm Saturday he was going to pull the plug if a deal was not reached. This is just what some people on here have said so I don't know it's 100% truth but it would make sense since the cameras were covered as Will says.
^They didn't do the "live" daily stuff like last year. Not sure why they abandoned it. I didn't go last year and was happy to get that. They should've done both the "live" wrapup each day and then something like they did this weekend. They picked the bigger known acts i guess but i thought the artists and song selections they picked were lame. Also agree the randoms they picked to follow were stupid
Yeah Yeah Yeahs=Heads Will Roll Coheed and Cambria=Welcome Home Beastie Boys=Intergalactic Snoop Dogg=I Wanna Love You Phish=Wolfman's Brother Bruce Springsteen=Outlaw Pete
well. yeah. it sucked. my gf was over with her two daughters and i just watched in on the dvr hoping to show them what an awesome time i had...
i thought the same thing especially when they chose a snoop cover of AKON! my gf was like "i didn't know he sang this" facepalm!
i would have rather watched random footage of people drunk and yelling. then again, i would have rather watched that almost any acts!
the one good thing about the douchey people they followed? i told my gf - look - chicks at bonnaroo aren't near as hot as you think they are... i said "and THOSE are the ones they picked for TV!!"
and i haven't stopped laughing at "outlaw pete" since i saw it.
I hear ya. I actually kinda like the song but it's almost a parody of a Springsteen song and why is the outlaw named "Pete" instead of something remotely outlaw-y? Makes me giggle.

i've randomly been bursting into cries of "outlaw pete!" when the boy least expects it. i don't think it'll ever stop being funny for me. i honestly thought bruce sounded really bad on that one, i have no idea why they'd use that when he actually had a pretty great show.
it could be worse, he could be outlaw milton or outlaw emerson or outlaw gregory.

outlaw pete is a pretty cool song.
from songmeanings.nt:
Springsteen explained to the Observer Music Monthly January 2009 about this fable concerning a character who can't escape his past: "The past is never the past. It is always present. And you better reckon with it in your life and in your daily experience, or it will get you. It will get you really bad. It will come and it will devour you, it will remove you from the present. It will steal your future and this happens every day.
We've lived through a nightmare like that in the past eight years here. We had a historically blind administration who didn't take consideration of the past; thousands and thousands of people died, lives were ruined and terrible, terrible things occurred because, there was no sense of history, no sense that the past is living and real. So the song is about this happening to this character. He moves ahead. He tries to make the right moves. He awakes from a vision of his death, and realizes: life is finite. Time is with me always. And I'm frightened. And he rides west where he settles down. But the past comes back in the form of this bounty hunter, whose mind is also quickened and burdened by the need to get his man. And these possessed creatures meet along the shores of this river where the bounty hunter of course is killed, and his last words are: 'We can't undo the things we've done.'
In other words, your past is your past. You carry it with you always. These are your sins. You carry them with you always. You better learn how to live with them, learn the story that they're telling you. Because they're whispering your future in your ear, and if you don't listen, it will be contaminated by the toxicity of your past."

that's cool and all, but on fuse, it felt more like a saturday night live skit than a deep song about escaping your past. i'm not really a bruce fan in general, though, so i guess i might find it funnier than most. but i really couldn't stop laughing as i watched it, it seemed so corny. i saw a good deal of bruce's set and thought there were WAY better songs they could've used, but i guess that's being saved for the dvd (y'know, the thing you actually have to BUY).

I was the one who first talked about NIN possibly pulling the plug. I just wish somehow someone from FUSE could have tried to film NIN.
