Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Thank you newbies for coming in here and posting your reviews. I absoultely love to hear about peoples' first experiences, because it is something that stays with you forever (if you're a fan, of course).
I moved from the northeast (many heads) to the southwest (not so many heads), and have tried to spread the word to my friends here. The frustrating thing is that many people will base their opinions only on albums or recordings, which make it very difficult to get IT. Seeing them live for the first time is really the only way to go (and then all those live recording start to make sense). I'm actually taking a good friend to Red Rocks for his first show, and can't even describe how excited I am for him.
Anyways, just wanted to post here and say this thread really put a smile on my face. If you want to catch them again, I know there are tickets easily obtainable to some venues. Here are the ones I would try to score for face (or less!):
6.18.09 Post Gazette Pavilion, Burgettstown, PA (tonight!) 6.20.09 Alpine Valley Music Theater, East Troy, WI 8.05.09 Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA 8.11.09 Toyota Park, Chicago, IL 8.13.09 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY
You should be able to get the tickets easily in the lot before the show. You can always try the other dates, but they might be tougher (especially Red Rocks, where you should expect $200+ for a ticket).
If anyone would like any show recomendations for download, ask a more veteran fan, and I'm sure we'd all be happy to point you in the right direction.

So my first 2 Phish shows delivered on all fronts, and I would like to immortalize them, by way of my playlist. I love all the audience stuff that's out there, but I was wondering if the LivePhish soundboard recordings were any good (meaning worth paying for). Any thoughts?
- Followup - I couldn't wait for a response, broke down and bought em! AWESOME quality, way better than any of the boots I've heard. Not regretting the purchase at all!!
It was my first time seeing Phish. I have listened to them off and on and listened a lot pre-roo. I was looking forward to iseeing them the first time but when I was actually there it was not really earth shattering for me. I see what all the fuss is about, they are seriously talented and jam out, but I just didn't have that "moment". I'd see them again if it just happened to come my way but I probably wouldn't go totally out of my way to see them again.

Yeah, I downloaded a recording of the Knox show and both Roo shows from bt.etree but I am going to buy the actual show from Livephish.com here soon. I don't enjoy the "white noise" and people chatter that comes with those.

The phan community has been debating the quality of the official SDBs versus the AUDs from tapers this tour. While my ears are not educated enough to weigh in on the debate, I too recommend checking out www.bt.etree -there's lots of great taper recorded shows to be found there, and not just phish.
If you want to listen to more phish, download this summer's Camden, Asheville, or Knoxville shows.
Amazing: Phish, Bruce, Amadou & Mariam, Vieux Farke Toure, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Wilco, NIN Good to great: Animal Collective, NIN, Jimmy Buffet, King Sunny Ade, Tobacco, MGMT, Passion Pit, Kraak & Smack Glad to have seen: Oakenfold, Grizzly Bear, Beastie Boys, of Montreal, Snoop Dogg
I have to say that these two shows were without a doubt the best live performances I have ever seen. There were times that I literally stood in open-mouthed amazement at what I was hearing and seeing before me, and that's not just because I had nommed a good amount of corn either. I even found myself singing along with songs I had never heard before. The light show was phenomenal, and the music was out of this world. Count me in as a newly converted Phan.
I don't think I could say it any better. I didn't get Phish prior to 'Roo this year. I went in with an open mind and to try to get it.
All I can say is holy $hit! I've seen a lot of live shows, but never, ever, ever have I witnessed anything live like Phish. I am a fan for life, and the Sirius 'Jam On' 9PM hour has become an a daily fix for me.
Came from Puerto Rico just to see my 2nd NIN show...and I have to admit............Phish is MASSIVE. and Phish change my life forever. thank you Phish! and Thank You Bonnaroo!

I paid the $17 for the 2 recordings and it is well worth it I deleted the songs with Bruce......

I've been going to concerts and festivals for about 20+ years and since seeing them for the first time in 1998, I have always said, there is nothing like a Phish show. I have never seen anything else that comes even close to compare. DMB comes close for me but Phish shows are just epic
There really isnt anything that comes close to a Phish show. Radiohead to me has come the closest. Ive seen great ones but the four Phish shows that i have seen this sumemr have been a cut above everything. ESP. the two at Bonnaroo. I WAS going to Rothbury. But now im just saving my money in hopes for a fall (winter) tour so i can go everywhere.

Yeah no regrets here. I checked out a few audience recordings but it's no comparison to me. I read a few of the reviews and most people's grievances have to do with the bass in the mix. To me that's something that can be boosted pretty easily just with EQ. Most of the audience stuff I've heard, on the other hand, is way too bass heavy and not so easy to fix (My car speakers aren't fans).
Not to mention I'm fairly neurotic about having little things like consistancy in the sound between each night. And the $17 isn't bad at all when you consider that you're getting 6 very memorable hours out of it. Money well spent in my book!

1st time seening Phish Friday. Stayed for about 45 mins then left for Phoenix/Femi/PE. songs were OK but I just don't like their improv at all. Not that I don't like any extended soloing/jaming, just not when they do it. add my dislike of Trey's voice and guitar tone and you can understand why we were glad to leave. Glad the phans enjoyed it, though.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
it wasnt really till the second set on Sunday where the extended jamming took off. IMO they couldnt of done a better job at Bonnaroo. Did you see Treys face?? It was a permanent smile. They were so happy to be there it wasnt even funny.
If you want to see a 40 song hampton set you should of gone to hamptons then. or cya at red rocks

It was my first Phish show -- I've never been *too* into the jam scene, can listen to it and enjoy it occasionally, but I've never been a full-on devotee. I knew a few Phish songs (Chalkdust Torture, Bathtub Gin, Tweezer) but I have to say that I am officially a convert. I was so impressed by Friday night's show, the lights, music, and glowstick wars were simply amazing.
Initially, we weren't going to stay Sunday night for Phish's set, but after seeing them Friday, we wound up staying the whole time and it was TOTALLY worth it. ;D We're now hoping for another tour so we can get the chance to see them again!

I tried listening to some recordings before roo and couldn't stand it. But I did watch about a half hour of their set on Sunday and enjoyed it. I still couldn't really get into it though. But I'd def see them again to get a second opinion on them.
It was my first time to see Phish as well, and I will just restate what many have already said: It was one of the best things I've ever seen in my LIFE! I still cannot stop thinking about those 2 shows. Just WOW!!!!
First time Phish fan...... Already shelled out more cash than I care to comment on...... Got my tix Phish Red Rocks Saturday Nite.....
Dude, your gonna have the best time ever.
Indeed i'm effin stoked, can't wait... If I lose my job, and Phish are still touring, I'm gonna have to wook it out and live lot to lot. Phish completely changed my perspective.
