Yeah those 420 will be the hot get this RSD. Otherwise, not much yet again. I wish they did all 1st time vinyl releases or 1st time reissues that are rare. These represses they do that are unnecessary and 7 inches of songs that are over pressed is just an attempt to milk the collectors market, like they do with variant covers for comic books.
and honestly at this point in my collecting career i'm more interested in snagging good condition older pressings. they typically sound better then new pressings anyway.
finding old metal or punk albums in great condition is super exciting.
also goddamned impossible, even when you have good shops around

I've been shocked at the stuff I've found at my local record store. I think it's a combination of (A) being in a smaller city that isn't super wise to the value of older vinyl yet and (B) the guy who runs the store has been into music/vinyl for a long time and really knows his shit.
A few months back I was buying a damn near mint original pressing of Suicidal Tendencies S/T for $15. I marveled at the price and he said people around here are just more interested in fresh new sealed pressings.
It's been officially a year since I got a turn table (Dual 521), so I made one of those 'growing collection' gifs of my records. Since like half of them are of bands that have played Roo in some capacity, I thought I'd share it here! Be prepared for lots of shitty punk. And Rush.
I went to Nashville this weekend and did some serious damage to my bank account. From Third Man I got Parquet Courts and Reggie Watts live from Third Man. At Grimey's I got Swept by Kiasmos, Dream All Over by Gun Outfit, Way Out Weather by Steve Gunn, and The Arcs vs. The Inventors vol. 1. I think there were about 50 other records in there that I desperately wanted. Safe to say Grimey's was easily one of the best record stores I've ever visited.
I feel slightly bad about this, but don't really care at the same time, judge if you want... A good friend of mine asked if I could help him help a friend clean out a family members house that had passed. I need to say that my friend's friend is a basically an unbearable asshole, but they have been friends since they were kids and I was only doing it as a favor to my friend. Anyway, while cleaning out a closet I found a box of 17 old 45's. Some I had never heard of and some were in pretty bad shape... But one I almost freaked out about. In almost impeccable condition was Lee Moses' Bad Girl single. I asked if I could have it knowing the dickhead had no idea about how rare it is. And he said sure, FOR FREE!!!! I have a collection of over 600 records, and this is now by far the rarest of my collection. I just needed to say this to a group that truly appreciates vinyl. It has been over a week, and I am slightly freaking out about it a little bit!
Does anybody know why all of Beck's vinyl is so high?
A few albums have yet to be pressed/issued a 2nd time. (Midnite Vultures, The Information)
Most of the 1st pressings of each were small.
If an album has been pressed/issued multiple times, the releases that might cost a few more than the others (of same album) are usually priced that way because of quality/sound of press. Sometimes, you might find a song that wasn't cleared to be pressed/issued a 2nd time, because of lack of clearance. The 1st press might have that song, but because they subverted the authorities on that issue, and rushed it to the plant. I believe that was the case with one of the first few Beck albums. It still happens from time to time. (clearance issues) People use that as a reason for sure when pricing
I really wish they would repress his whole catalog. I bought a copy of the 10 year anniversary edition of Odelay that I found for $100. It was new and came with 4 LP's double album with each song being remixed. The packaging is incredible and limited to 3,000 copies each were numbered. I remember jamming out to this when I was like 12. One of the few musicians that Im not ashamed of liking at a young age. Beck is still one of my favorites so I had no problem with the asking price. Really would like to add more of his albums to my collection.
Who is a member of Vinyl Me, Please and would be able to purchase something for me and let me pay them the shipping/costs via paypal? I would be forever in your debt.

Is it the Sound of Ceres album from the store this month? Because everyone should be buying that...

It's The National's Cherry Tree EP (limited print). I went ahead and signed up for a month just to get it... it was about to be sold out. I didn't even hear about it until about 15 minutes ago.
I will check out Sound of Ceres. I didn't know a member of Apples in Stereo was in the band.
Went and traded a bunch of vinyl and came home with:
George Benson - In Concert Carnegie Hall Pat Metheny - Bright Size Life GNR - Lies (OP) Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie (original pressing, but the second limited unnumbered batch of 2,500)
Been staring at that Mellon Collie at the local shop for years, finally decided to make it happen. I purchased a lot of newer records before I got married, many of which I never listen to. The record store is thrilled to take these, as they can sell a bunch of $15-20 records a lot easier than more expensive records.
Anyway it's a little poppy clicky during Tonight Tonight, but once it hits Thirty-Three it sounds beautiful. Very pleased.
Note the price tag is inaccurate, I got a much better deal than that in my trade.
2017: 2/24 Twenty One Pilots 4/1 Radiohead 6/7 Glass Animals 9/10 Modest Mouse 9/21 Arcade Fire 9/29 Kings of Leon 10/3 Foster the People 10/17 The xx 10/22 LCD Soundsystem 11/8 Bon Iver
I know RHCP is not too popular on here (that is putting it nicely), but they're releasing the greatest hits on silver vinyl. They were the first band I ever saw live.

Steal for Pet Sounds. I just picked up Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan and Live/Dead and F♯ A♯ ∞ by Gy!be. I need more dead live vinyl that doesn't cost over $50 a pop...
Ok, now that I have your attention. I inherited a fairly large vinyl collection from my parents and an uncle. I've picked through and saved a bunch of stuff I was interested in. However, I still have 4 boxes of records sitting in my room that I don't imagine I'll ever listen to.
This is where you come in!
I'm giving the albums away for free, you just have to pay shipping. Or, if you're coming to Levitation, I can just hand them off to you then. Or I could possibly bring them to Bonnaroo if I make it this year.
First come, first serve. Just shoot me a pm. I'll cross off the albums as they get claimed. Only caveat is that my uncle gets first pick. I just emailed him the list.
All of the albums are vintage pressings from the '70's and '80's. Most of the covers display some moderate to severe aging. However, of the albums that I've peeked at, the vinyl itself seemed to be in very good condition.
There is no order to the list, just the order they were in the boxes. Definitely some classics in there that I'm sure someone will want. And there are some major turds. Check my Snapchat for a strangely erotic keyboard.
And lets keep it to a cap of 5 albums a person to start it off. After a few days if there are still some you want that haven't been claimed, they're all yours too. Just want to give everyone a chance at first.

My new Panda Bear-themed version of Animal Collective's new LP just arrived. I can't believe this is my first Animal Collective vinyl. I need to work on that... especially their earlier albums.
Anyone else get theirs today? It looks great. I am about to try it out.

Clerk hooked me up with AnCo slipmat today free of charge without buying the record. And in timely fashion, with the Segall show next week, got some used Ty projects dirt cheap.

Also, haven't gotten a pm about in a day or two, so taking the 5 album cap off. For those that have already claimed 5, just send me another pm with whatever albums you'd also like. I'll keep the original list updated as I get the requests in.
