Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
They're a lesser known pop group that particularly caught djjd's eye at sxsw, and for good reason. They're an all female group from Norway that throw down some amazing stuff, from circus to some Mississippi blues... we need to get them on board.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Saw this in the other thread and recommend everyone check out this video. It features a kazoo and the drummer playing on a tin pot while making odd kikiki noises.
This is the sort of group that makes Bonnaroo for me. The big acts always deliver, but aside from Radiohead, I have never been blown away by the big stuff. Stumbling upon the the Cat Power's or Rodrigo y Gabriella's have made each Roo really special and memorable. Plus, when you catch a small act setting the stage on fire, you feel like you found a diamond in the rough and it's your little treasure.
So true, last year's rare finds for me was Carney and Jake Shimibakuro. I had known of Shimibakuro and saw him live beforehand, but it was like rediscovering him in such the small setting. It may not seem like I'm saying much, but Greatest 'Uke player EVER.
Le Pop (Katzenjammer's album) hasn't been released in the United States yet, but you can get it by other means... I've been listening to it for the past month now, probably the most "fun" album I own, they just seem like they're having a blast playing.
Musically, it's as if Tom Waits and Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls had sex, this would be their offspring.

The wife and I got their album "Le Pop" (available as a download on Amazon... not for sale in the US) based on a Youtube video and we likes. It will take a hell of a conflict to draw me away and my wife has stated that she will miss Phish to see them.
^ I'm guessing an all-female band from Norway will always be described as such (well, maybe not in Norway). So did they ever have a hope of being good in your eyes?
Or perhaps there's something much less copy/paste about their origins and it's worth mentioning; perhaps they're proud of their heritage, who knows.
Here's something that you might try; I had never heard of Katzenjammer before, much less their origin or gender. When DJJD posted about a kickass band he saw on Twitter, I figured why not, the guy has a ballsin taste in music. I listened, and enjoyed the hell out of it.
Then again, it's all about personal taste in music. That's like, you're opinion man.
When I saw them the first time playing for free in the street I had no idea where they were from- in fact, I tried to figure it out and failed because they pulled off every style they played in- and the songs were really great.
I *did* notice they were all female, of course. Hard to miss that, you know.
But the reason I went to see them 3x because I just love a great live show- and by the 3rd show I realized it was the spirit and creativity that pulled me back, not the gender or nationality.
But decide for yourself -- DjJd
I am already have option anxiety about this year's lineup.
So are there going to be any more tour dates for Katzenjammer or is it just going to be the Knoxville/Roo shows? They seem to be jumping all over the place on their tour dates.

Yes, except you had to change the name of the band (or you're too stupid to know how to spell "Mastodon"), whereas that's the only entry for "Katzenjammer" in wikipedia, and the first thing that comes up when you google them.
Stooge. Nice try though. Replace the "me" in your name with a "t" and we're close.
Hooray, cyber insults are the best! Do one for me next please? Mastadon.

I can see this is going nowhere but in circles, one smart ass to another alongside with you seemingly having it out for this band because in their description it states their gender and location.
Instead of judging on their description and looking for substance there, give them a listen. I, as well as a few others, have put up a few links where you can easily follow and listen. If you like, cool, but if you don't, that's cool too. Who knows, they might surprise you.

I recorded a few songs on a camera, the quality isn't amazing but I'll try to throw it up on Youtube here in a bit. I hope somebody got a recording.
I taped Demon Kitty Rag, Hey Ho On the Devil's Back, Cherry Pie Song and Into the Sea on Friday. I got a song or two on the Sonic Stage, but the quality isn't good and i had the focus set to near instead of far, so I got some really great video of people's hair and back.
Also, after their bonnaroo performance this got tweeted: Le Pop: Le Pop by Katzenjammer 8,463% Sales Rank in MP3 Albums: 211 (from Amazon)
They drew a huge crowd both days, especially on the Sonic Stage which was packed to the road. I really see great things coming from this band in the future.

The harmonies were so perfect that it brought tears to my eyes. Then they jump up and switch around instruments. At one point I noticed the cute blonde playing drums and the trumpet. This kind of talent deserves to be huge.
