even if you think he's ok, comparing him to the highly billed comedy tent acts from previous years like Louis CK or David Cross really puts him into perspective
"There is an ancient celtic axiom that says 'Good people drink good beer.' which is true, then as now. Just look around you in any public bar-room, and you will quickly see: Bad people drink bad beer. Think about it."
Comedians from Boston equals weak sauce (Fallon, Cook) They are wicked awful...HAHAHAHAHA.
While i agree that boston sucks you should do some research. Jimmy is from saugerties ny (10 mins out of woodstock). I went to the same hs as him and hes actually a really likeable guy, and while i admit he has been in some bad movies and hes not that funny i dont understand the extreme hate many people have for him. Its pretty classless the way some of you guys are bashing him (calling him the kanye of 09 is a head scratcher) is him being at roo really gonna run your time?
What if he does his late night show (roots and all) thursday night interviewing some of the big names doing some skits while the roots jam out (and the play a show the next night or later on). That would be pretty fun.

the hate is probably because he is a comedian that is not funny. it's pretty much his job to be funny and he fails. the only thing that can save him from raining boos and people walking out on his set is the roots being with him.

Theres only one person that laughs at Jimmy Fallon's jokes. And thats Jimmy Fallon.
I still don't understand how he got famous.
Very true, I have watched his show all week long for some reason and last nights was probably the best but he is still just a little weird to me. At the very beginning of the show where he has to read the script and add jokes to it is HORRIBLE! Hell I'd rather have Jay Leno.
Why? What about him is not funny? Besides that he laughs during SNL sketches.
Is it him thats not funny or his jokes? Because the writers that have been doing his Late Night show are some of the funniest people to ever breathe.
i guess it's just him then. he doesn't make me laugh therefore he is not funny. pretty simple. and when someone is supposed to be funny and they're not, they become annoying. and when you become annoyed with someone(yet they are still on your tv screen) you don't like them. this is pretty much the majority opinion on jimmy fallon. just look at this poll. 70% of those that responded don't like him.
I'm not really a fan, but he's not nearly as horrible as you guys are making him out to be.
Here's what I suggest:
Stop wasting your time bashing him and complaining that he's on the lineup...and just don't go see him. Wow. Controversy solved.
i'm not going to waste my time seeing him. there is no controversy. i just don't like him. and it was pretty much the purpose of this thread for me to say that. lots of people agree with me apparently.
He doesnt really have enought material as a stand up comic for me to judge (since that is what he is going to be doing at Roo). Its not like Dane Cook who has enough stuff out there (too much) to make a solid opinion on.
The only basis for people to hate him are 2 weeks of late night talk shows (Conan even had trouble getting comfortable with that job at first), a few seasons of SNL in which yes he did screw up a few skits by laughing but it was 90% of the time about something Will Ferrell was doing (which a lot of the cast did including Kattan, Horatio Sanz, Molly Shannon, Tracy Morgan, Seth Meyers, Darrell Hammond etc.) and a couple HORRIBLE movies. Fallon had a few really funny characters on SNL (Nick Burns, Boston Teens) and a few good impressions (Barry Gibb, Steven Segal, Larry King). IMO no one on SNL has ever been as good as impressions as Jimmy Fallon except for current cast member Bill Hader.
just dont go see him if you dont want to. there is plenty of good comedy to go around this year.

If you're not going to waste your time seeing him, why waste your time telling us that you don't like him? Yeah, lots of people on Inforoo agree with you...and lots of other people like him. So what? I just don't understand why people feel the need to bash someone or something just because they don't like it.

maybe i wanted better comedians? and i'm still pissed that he got the late night show when someone funny should have got it. just venting. ignore it, if you don't like it.

i suggest you look into the comedians we already have. some REALLY good acts there. Definitely worth checking out if you got nothing to do or no bands you want to see.
