i believe all of us that saw it were privy to something we were not supposed to see yet. they should have been smarter than that.
yeah, my theory is that they were adding bands so they could be prepared to instantly put all these bands as their Top Friends when the line-up is released. then they realized what was going on and put up these joke artists, and deleted all the real bands.
of course they could have just been messing with us, but as others have said, so many of those bands "make sense". i guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm really surprised by this. In 07 they messed up. Someone put something online that was NOT supposed to be there, and our very own Detective found it. They certainly seemed to learn their lesson from that. And they definitely keep an eye on us enough to know that this stuff would NOT escape our attention. I'm amazed they ever let anything slip. And I do think the earlier ones that seemed right, were already rumored, and are now deleted must be legit.

Nickelback!? If that one came true I'd give my ticket away right now. I HATE Nickelback!
I would give both of mine away too!!!
OMG! As would I! I absolutely HATE them. They are the epidome of terrible music. Next to Hinder, they're the worst band in the world. If someone tells me they like them, I have to totatlly disregard anything else they say.

I think they might have done this accidentally on purpose. Us knowing a few days early doesn't hurt anybody. Just creates more buzz for the announcement, because we're all gonna go tell our friends how stacked the line-up looks, and now even more people will eagerly await Feb. 3.

Actually he has his own source, the AC people were pretty steamed about it though if I remember correctly.

Exactly, that's what I was thinking / hinting at. I can't imagine they screwed up again and let this happen accidentally. I think they just gave us a teaser - and without any way of knowing which ones are real and which are jokes, it's pretty damn harmless.

How could these acts all show up within the span of a few minutes? Doesn't the artist need to accept the friend invitation before it shows up in the friends list? Or do band profiles automatically accept?
Neko Case, Animal Collective, Jenny Lewis. If all of these are true my head will explode.
I would LOVE to see Animal Collective, but I looked the other day, and I believe they'll be in New York (or somewhere..??) on June 11th, so I wrote them off, but maybe they'll be a Sunday show. SWEET JESUS! ;D

If it was just a teaser I think they would have let them as friends instead of deleting them . . . and if it was all just a tease to get people talking about the incredible lineup to their friends and it ends up not even being half of these bands, then it could turn into a disappointment to many people . . which in my opinion would be kinda harmful.

Yeah, because they would never build up expectations that a certain band would be there and then disappoint.....
